Thumbs down New to stripping at 2 clubs taxes HELP?!!

I'm new here and new to dancing, I only started dancing in May of 2013 and I stopped dancing in October 2013. I worked at two different clubs in my city as an independent contractor. I never sent in money for taxes so would I just file a tax return? Both clubs sent me a W-2 but nothing else. Was I supposed to send in tax money? Can I use turbo tax? I'm really confused how to do it please help!!!! Thanks

If you received W2's instead of 1099's then both clubs considered you to be an 'employee' not an 'independent contractor'.

Since your 'employer' clubs withheld estimated taxes from your 'paychecks' you don't need to worry about making separate estimated tax filings / payments

Yes you can use the cheapest version of turbo-tax.

But if in fact you received 1099's not W2's, then it's not so simple.

Do you have to have the 1099's for filing purposes? I keep track of everything myself, and I work at lots of different places, sometimes travel dance also.

no receiving a 1099 is not a requirement of reporting the income on your schedule c ( profit or loss from a business ). However, if a club issues a 1099 in your name, and if the IRS is unable to match up a line item entry on your schedule c with the name of the payer club, it may spur additional action by the IRS - who may assume that the income listed on that club's 1099 form was not reported by the dancer.
