I think they have a few different studios in East and West London. You don't have access to their 6 week courses but you can do single classes of conditioning, stretching, tricks, climbing, inverts, etc which are more the kind of classes I would want, as well as having access to a pole!

I was about to suggest trying a playground, but I see you already solved your problem. Also not sure what the public playgrounds are like in England.

Spinning poles that spin really freely are very tricky for the kind of thing I do--they throw the weight in the wrong direction lol.

I've actually never been on a spinning pole before! I don't know I don't have a lot of interest in trying it to be honest since I've never worked at a club that had one so learning how to do tricks on one wouldn't help me much at work. Do they actually spin around by themselves? lol I am a bit curious as to how they work!

^What that dancer did was a "pencil" lift/spin to get into the "swan" position. You do need upper body strength for that. She was right about the thigh muscles. It will hurt at first. There will probably be bruises. But it looks pretty:-)

^I went today and there was only one other girl there during the hour, they had 3 spinning poles and 3 static poles in the studio I was in, they have like 3 studios in total I think. It's a basement right off of Old Street. It was good, I liked it. I took one of their barre classes which was good as well.

So I guess the reason I've been struggling with the swan spin is because I've been doing it on a static pole, I tried it on a spinning pole and I got it on my 5th try, it wasn't that hard at all! It was my first time on a spinning pole and it's def not any easier than a static pole! I mean it's easier to spin, but you have to be able to balance the force of the pole spinning and that's difficult.. just even getting into a V isn't super easy.

But I got so much done just having my phone and a pole and not having to worry about people watching me. I was able to master getting into the superman from the V (I've been doing it from the ground previously), spinning in a V, taught myself a few new spins on the spinning pole, and polished this move a girl taught me at my old club where I climb to the top, straddle my legs, put a hand under my butt and slide down...They had a mat so I was able to get halfway into the butterfly, that shit is hard!

Love extended butterfly. One of my fav poses to do on spin. I kick the stage lights sometimes on accident lol.

Hardest part about club dancing is the slippery poles. So much lotion and body oils on them and so little time to clean them or even grip up the pole.

Took a bit to get used to loSing a lot of elevation while in a pose simply because of how slick the pole was.

I took a pole conditioning class today and I am still sore! I've been marveling at how much stronger I'm getting but that class showed me I've got a long way to go...

I'm trying to find some tutorials for doing the "bird":

But I can't find any decent tutorials on youtube. Do you guys have any recommendations for girls that do exceptionally well-explained tutorial? I'm running dry on them...

And if you're like me and aren't ready for extended butterfly this girl has a good one for butterfly:

And this is a good one for caterpillar, a good move to practice when working on butterfly:
