Dizzy kilobits, kilobytes, bandwidth and alll that...s**t

OK, so for a few days now I have issues with staying connected and having a good image.

First i wondered if it's not the site, and since everybody seems to complain about SM, maybe that's it...but thing is, it happens on other sites too.

i called my ISP, I have a business line and they said they checked and solved, but i have the same issues.

What can i do to check they are really provided what is in the contract? how do I verify my speed in realtime, not on a speedtest that gives me a momentary check?

I also checked the resource monitor from the task manager, but I have a big issue: in the encoder I have kbps, in the resource monitor I have B per sec, and even if i try to convert, what the encoder is showing and what the resource monitor does just don't work out.

Help from a knowing nerd would be sooo appreciated!

What is your CPU usage during streaming? Sites like SM are pushing for higher and higher quality, and even though you might have a really good internet connection, if the CPU is overworked (above 70%) image will freeze. I don't know if that answers your question but I noticed with my own work computer (not the best, but it's only maybe a couple years old now, second generation i5) that my CPU usage is going through the roof on SM, even on low quality settings. My internet speed is great (sorry I can't point you in a better direction for speed testing) but my image while working lately is shit (I only have 4 gigs of memory, if that factors in, Idk). I know in my case it's due to my CPU but I have no idea how to fix it (goes over 70% with just one site/browser open).

I have a 6 core and normally my CPU is around 60% with 3 sites streaming HD in parallel, one of them being SM. when it's only one site it is about 20%. Also, the resource monitor shows I never use more than 25% of my installed RAM memory, so that's still OK.
