    Default Good Stripper Look?

I get told really frequently that I look a lot like Marilyn Monroe, and I'm wondering if this is something I should play up once I start dancing (she is an iconic beauty after all), or something I should try to move out of, to set myself as unique from anyone else. I certainly wouldn't want to look costumey, but done properly, she is the ultimate sex symbol, what do y'all think?

Marilyn Monroe was one of a kind. Save the copycat routine for Halloween or a theme night.

If you have those features (pale skin, light blonde hair), perhaps there is a pinup or pornstar you could base your 'look' after? That's what I did, I looked at pictures of porn stars who shared similar features and body type to me and looked for a common theme that they had that made them 'sexy'. Then I incorporated them into my look.

Of course you don't have to do that and just create your own look entirely, but I prefer getting dolled up for work.

It's worth a shot. As a newbie, I find it's a good idea to be open to different looks and styles -- case in point, many new girls want to rock the burlesque sort of look, but it just isn't as popular with the clients because they don't get it. At this point in your dancing career, you're still getting comfortable just being in the club and interacting with clients, so you don't really know what is most appealing in the context you're working in. You'll eventually figure out what looks appeal to most of the clientele there, and then can experiment with what looks work best for you specifically. Don't feel like you have to pick your look now and that's the end of that -- the great thing about this job is that you can always be changing your style, even within the same shift if you find your look is getting lost on the crowd.

You don't have to necessarily dress like Marilyn but you could dress in that style. Go for a classy look with retro style dresses that accentuate your hourglass figure. I'd stay away from copying her hairstyle or else it might veer into looking costumey.

Really, if you hear that you constantly look like something, I'd go with it. I constantly hear about my "pinup style" and I was never trying for a pinup look. There's just something about the way I look that makes people think, pinup girl. Eventually I just went with it and it suits me. I think it's easier to just play up the look you have naturally.

it sounds like you already have the Marilyn factor going anyway, so you don't need to play it up! I've also never met a customer who likes the bold red lips. They like natural or glossy lips with a sultry smokey eye, and teeny bikinis > schmancy/retro lingerie. Most pinup looks are more girl hot than guy hot.

I'd rather be a bad original than a great copy.

^I wish I had that option. Customers assume I'm trying to impersonate Marilyn Monroe (never a more interesting icon) at least 20x a night no matter what I do or wear. Sometimes it's easier to just embrace it. . .

Yep, I can wear a trashy looking holographic bikini with long straight hair and guys still tell me they love my "pin up" look. It doesn't matter what I wear, I hear it.
