is leather cooler than pleather? i remember dancing in cheap plealther boots and my legs sweat like nobody's business! i think they would be a great choice for the winter, when its cold in the club and i love the way they look and protect my knees!

I told my chiropractor years ago that I wanted to start a custom shoe line for dancers. I wouldn't know where to start. It is something I'd pay for because I have triple A feet and all shoes hurt me but I think the average dancer wouldn't want to pay the cost for them.

I found leather to be more breathe-able, but again I wore multiple layers of thick socks under the boots so I sweated like a mofo anyway. It just nvr bothered me bc I am already long accustomed to the heat & wgt of steel-toe work boots OTC.
Pleather in general I just found to be an all-around pain in the ass. Doesn't last, too grippy on floor & pole (hear the squeaking across the club kind of grippy), harder to clean properly (again bc of durability problem).
My biggest thing when looking for shoes is finding ones that are easier to balance on - I need to feel confident while walking around and dancing that I won't fall over. I have good balance (ballet and gymnastics for 10+ years), but I also weigh 140 lbs (all compact muscle - I look 120 lbs), am 5'7", and I actually dance when I go on stage (instead of strutting and posing). It doesn't help that some stages are very, very slippery.
I look for shoes with broader bases and heels, plus a tall platform to match the tall heel (steep inclines are uncomfortable and bad for balance). The 7-inch and 8-inch heels all have a nice, high platform, but have tiny bases. The 6-inch heels generally have broader bases, but have a steeper incline from the platform to the heel. Argh!
The only ones I've found over the years that have made me feel confident walking around in them: http://www.ellieshoes.com/showcase/P...D_CD=656-MARCH
They certainly aren't the sexiest shoes out there...I wish I could find a more stylish shoe that come close to being as stable as these.
It doesn't help at all that the club I danced in for four years had low ceilings, so all of the dancers would constantly 'hold' the ceiling for balance as we walked around (which also extended our torsos in a sexy way). I got spoiled!!

.
just the regular stripper heels with one plastic strap like these http://www.bikini-beach.com/pumps.htm. i've really REALLy stretched the plastic out on the pair i have now, much more than i ever have, and it seems to be working so far. i agree charie, its just always a struggle for me to choose ones that are stable, but sexy..good support but not too tall..arrghhh. takes me a long time to shoe shop, esp since i have such short wide feet. i fee like most stripper heels are made for very narrow feet. next time i'm going to try audrey's suggestion and get the non-plastic strap ones!! i like how those look too
I wish shoe sites made searching easier - they should provide statistics for the surface areas of the shoes' bases + the incline between the platform and heel. Can you imagine how nice it would be if you could actually run a quick search on Snaz or Yandy and see which shoes are easiest to walk in?!
I'm surprised these sites don't have better searching, considering women use these shoes professionally (i.e. not just dressing up for partners).
I've never been able to dance well in shoes with clear tops. They stretch out sooo quickly, and if I sweat just a little bit my feet start sliding around in the shoe and I think I'm going to fall (or I actually do fall). If you like the look of invisible shoes, but want more comfort, maybe these would work: http://www.shoebuy.com/pleaser-delig...242456/1307024
I'm 5'9 and end up 6'4 with my heels. I prefer the six inch over the 5 or 7 inches. they're more comfortable. Our club has a 4" rule, we have a girl who wears non-platform 7" stilettos. Some girls wear regular wedge heels. I've never ran into name calling due to my height, but my best asset other than my face is my booty, so when guys are sitting out on the floor and it's time for dollar dances, my ass is at the perfect height for their face. Our club also requires us to take our shoes off for private bed dances, the only time we have to take them off for couch dances, is if we're getting up on the couch. When I sell a champagne room I have a sexy pair of slippers that I'll wear. It is a pain in the butt re-buckling my shoes after every lap dance. I'm afraid to try the slip on, my feet get really sweaty.
