Default Webcams: Logitech c930e & HP HD 5210

I'm currently in the market for a new webcam, as my current one (the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000) has decided to have serious issues with its autofocus, occasionally remaining blurry for 30+ seconds at a time.

Sample videos on Youtube look pretty good. As a (slightly) less expensive alternative, they say the HP Webcam HD 5210 has similar video quality, although "it has less effective noise cancellation, its mount isn't as flexible, and it has a slightly narrower field of view."

I haven't found any reviews here for the HP 5210, and the older reviews for the c930e weren't good (one poster said it made her encoder lag, and several SWers said they didn't like widescreen). It looks like the c920 is still the SW favorite. I'm wondering if anyone has tried either the 5210 or the c930e recently.

    I use the c930e
I LOVE IT i's great for camming grabs all the light makes you looks FLAWLESS
The ONLY downside is it SUCKS at recording videos. So I used my c920 for vids.

It's a happy cam!! Like I said the ONLY thing is the shitty recording AND the LIGHT. You'll be surprised..I had to get rid of lights in my cam rooms because of it cos it was making me look SO washed out!!! That cam grabs light like a mutha.... lol

Hmm, maybe I'll take it out of the box and use it 930 tomorrow. It kept going blurry on me but maybe that was due to using it for videos on the same day.

I have been using the c930e for awhile now. I really like this webcam a lot. I also was able to reduce my lighting. Which made me very happy! The only thing I have noticed is my hair appears a lighter shade of blonde on this cam. Not a bad thing...just kinda strange.

I can't find advanced settings on it, using it w a Macbook Pro. In fact, it defaults to an older software from Logitech installed from the 615. Logitech still isn't as Mac-compatible as it could be IME.

Yes, I used it for a while camming today and it was fine and bright. When I used it to record video, after a while the auto-focus would get 'stuck' in blurry mode. Sometimes unplugging and restarting the software would work to clear it up, other times not. I don't know how to turn auto-focis off, if anyone does it would be great to hear. The last time I Googled (granted, its been a couple of months) the consensus was that you couldn't do it on a Mac.
