    Post calling all vets

Ive been dancing for over a year on and off but ive been taking ir seriously fulltime for the last four months. I still consider myself a newb.
I just want to ask all vets how was it when they first started, how long did it take them to find/create their own lane in the club/business, how did you deal with competition, and whats your take on and tips on confidence/customer service/conversation.

Finding a club I was comfortable working at with decent earning potential was very hard. I will say the more comfortable I was at a club the more $$ I made. When u are not comfortable it shows trust me. Work a regular schedule so customers will know when to find u and u can make "regulars". Don't let other girls get to you. Just focus on $$ if they try to fuck w you hold your head high and keep to yourself. If they step your toes/steal customers then on to the next one. Remember you are unique and amazing.... someone will see that in you, and good regulars wont get dances with other girls while u are there or at least will always give u $$ regardless. As you move forward you will recognize the different personality types and learn how to deal with them. If a customer says something ignorant don't argue with him, just walk away. Don't ever let anyone elses negativity get you down, not girls, customers or staff. Have fun with it and stay positive.

It took me a few years to feel like a pro. Made better money than any other available jobs from the beginning, though.

Learning curve took me a LONG time. I was the chubby angry teenygoth for a LONG time. I finally wised up, got a pair of tits and lost 30 llbs. Not everyone is going to like your look but for everyone that says "No!" 10 more say yes. Oh yeah don't let yourself go. Like they said in Showgirls "There's always someone younger and hungrier coming down the stairs after you."

TBH I am a very lazy and spoiled stripper. I depend on my tits like a T-rex depended on its razor sharp jaws. Usually has the same result. I got my tits purely out of vanity and greed. So far I have recouped my investment many times over. I hate sitting and talking to people for extended periods of time. My tits eliminate 90% of the bullshit. I love em.

I never paid attention to the "competition". In my mind I guess I just KNEW there were going to be other beautiful and talented girls and there was nothing I could do about it. From day one my main focus was what I could do to improve MYSELF.
I got my boobs done, got my hair a perfect shade of blonde, became a gym addict, learned how to apply makeup, bought a pole for my house, started eating clean and got a tan. I totally stripperfied myself. Once I FELT and LOOKED like a professional dancer, money started coming to me. (I'm not saying you have to be a Barbie girl to make $, that was just the look I was going for and what works for me personally and gave me confidence)

As far as customer conversation goes , when meeting new guys I have a fun and sexy persona, try to feel out what kind of guy they are and go from there.

I was making serious money right out of the gate. I started at a sweet spot in the economy, so there was that. The areas I worked in were stage only or air dance clubs, and stripping was becoming more mainstream thanks to bands featuring strippers in their videos, and people felt less self conscious about visiting a strip club. Then every trust fund kid decided to open his own club and the market became flooded with clubs and dancers.

In my opinion, today is a pretty good time to be a stripper. The US made a turn toward the more conservative and repressed over the last 10-12 years and now the pent up sexual frustration is being realized in $$ for those in sexually oriented businesses.

As far as dealing with the competition, I don't really see it that way. My customers are mine, your customers are yours, and sometimes we will share the customers. But ultimately, if a customer doesn't feel a connection to the dancer there isn't much you can do about it. I just keep looking for guys (and ladies) who do find me attractive and don't worry about it otherwise.

Advice for new (and some vets) strippers:

The number one thing I see dancers doing that is killing their earning potential is pre-judging customers based on their own financial experiences. I'm floored every time I see a dancer give a customer money back or tell him that he 'only' has to pay XYZ dollars for the dances. Jesus Christ, ladies! If the customer wants to shower you with money, freaking take it!!!!! Just because $500 sounds like a lot of money to spend on dances to you, doesn't mean the customer feels the same way. I always assume the guys want at least an hour in VIP and behave accordingly. It is so much easier to come down in price than it is to turn a 3/$100 into an hour before hitting the VIP.

The other problem I see with girls at work is prejudging customers based on how they look. That dude who looks like a trucker might be a millionaire. I've made a couple thousand off one customer this week because he won a small(ish) jackpot in the lottery recently. This guy looks like he should be living in a trailer park, and probably did before he won almost $100k. His teeth are fucked up, he smells like an ashtray from chain smoking all his life, but he has a lot of cash and loves to spend it on strippers.

On the flip side, I've met well dressed professional looking guys who were flat broke and never spent a dime on strippers while sitting in the club trying to get a girlfriend. Don't waste time on these guys. It is possible to buy Armani suits at Goodwill. If after 10-15 minutes he isn't ready to spend some cash, move on. Sometimes you just have to stand up and walk away from these slick players in mid-sentence. They will try to steal your time and try to cop a feel for free. I told one of these guys last week that I didn't mind snuggling with him on his lap, but we needed to hit the VIP if he was going to keep going on and on about how he wants me to [fill in the blank, general dirty talk]. He handed me a few dollars then sought out a girl who was willing to listen to him for free. Stop doing that, ladies, if you want to make a lot of money. Demand the cash or cut him off.

One of my favorite things to do is to sit across the room from one of these freeloaders and stare at my phone after saying I have to go do some dances. The schadenfreude is so satisfying in that moment. I'm obviously not making any money, but it sends the message that I won't entertain customers for free.

it took me 9 months to a year to get my hustle down, and i'm STILL working on perfecting it after 3 years later. its ever-evolving, and so is my look.
i tried out 5 clubs til i found my fit..that's very important. some of my friends say they make great money at one club, but if i go there i dont make shit..its all about finding your fit and your clientelle.
but even if you know what kind of guys usually go for you, you need to approach everybody..that's important.

don't pay attention to the other girls. don't get caught up in your "competition", just focus on yourself and the customer. unless a girl is butting in and interrupting your with a custy, just ignore all the other girls there. that's not to say that you should be mean or snobby, you need to get along with everyone but trust no one. don't make enemies, but don't become bosom friends with a co-worker right off the bat. i learned that the HARD way.

always ask for a tip, in a very nice way ( unless the guy has spent a whole lot of money already). something like, " it was 50 for the dances, and tips are not expected but appreciated!" or " its 50 plus a tip if you feel like i gave you a good dance". customer service is very important too. always be polite, make the guy feel like he's the most important man in the room, and that you are enthralled by talking to him. i give very sensual, hot, intimate dances without getting dirty and i've built up some good regulars. don't ever act like you are bored, rushed, or disgusted by giving a dance/talking to them because guys pick up on that shit. and don't talk about your problems! you are a fantasy.

as for confidence, that's probably one of the most important things in this business. ALWAYS assume the sale. whenever i get nervous, or doubt myself, the customer sees that. why would they want to buy something that i didn't even believe in myself? go in there looking and feeling your best, whatever that takes..if its fake boobs, get em. if its having your nails done, being blond, wearing gowns, etc. that's my take

Blondes with tans and fake tits are always going to be the top of the food chain. There's no way to dislodge them. Just my observation. Whenever our resident Barbie is working I make sure that I'm just as "Barbiefied". I have my curly porn star wig on, pinup lingerie, red lipstick, etc. I need every tool in my arsenal.

Totally agree, which is why you can't compare yourself to the next. You just need to focus on yourself and how to get your money. Know yourself and your abilities.

agree with that being true in upscale clubs but do u think that would still be true in an urban club? Not to change the story I'm just wondering if a white girl with blonde hair and fake tits would still be at the top in urban clubs, I've never even seen one working in those type clubs!

I honestly don't know. Maybe a Coco Austin doppelganger.

White girls in an urban club will always make money. However at the moment Latina/light skinned black girls are in so that's what wannabes want Just my experience.

Not me lol. ^ They'd stake me and put garlic in my mouth before they made it rain on me. I can count on one hand the number of black guys that I've danced for in my stripping career. :-p

I work an urban club and there are three types of white girls here.

    1) Petite white girls. They don't do very well to be honest, but if they can dance well, they'll make decent money. And when that one customer comes in with a thing for petite girls (usually dragged in by his friends who like girls with big butts), they make bank

    2) Fake big booty, went to DR and got work done, Barbie white girls, not necessarily blonde. These girls are the top earners at my club. Tan, hair extensions, makeup always on point. They only come in every once in a while, but when they're here I either have to hustle really hard to make money, or I make a lot of money because their customers like me because I'm sort of thick and blonde. lol

    3) Then there's the in between girls. There are two blonde girls that are slim with great fake boobs and an alright booty. They definitely do above average, but aren't top earner status. And they are both good dancers. If they added a fake ass, maybe but boobs aren't really the thing at my club. Two of my coworkers have huge breasts, but between them whipping their tits out or bending over and making their ass clap, usually they get more money/rained on when do ass moves.

I'm Latina but I'm constantly called eastern European, Russian, white, whatever by customers and also by other dancers from those countries. So I guess I'll tell you my experiences being treated like a white girl in an urban club. I'm not really thick anymore, but I have a pear shape so that works in my favor. No boobs, big booty in proportion to my body.

One thing I've noticed that pisses me off but is a sad reality, is that the black and latino customers in urban clubs treat me much better than Latinas/dark skinned girls. They're nicer to me, more respectful. I don't nearly have to work twice as hard as they do for a dollar. These assholes will put money all over me for just sitting there, but make a black dancer dance for 5 freaking minutes for $3. I'm a crappy stage dancer because all I can do is make my ass clap and some pole work, but the same money a customer throws on me, another girl will have to do crazy shit on the pole to get rained on. So yes there definitely is an advantage to being a white girl in an urban club. First you will get girls trying to be nice to you so they can latch onto your money. Then you will get a lot of hate though so keep to yourself.

Also to answer the OP's question,
I don't really consider myself a vet, but here goes. When I went back to stripping after a long break, I was overweight and out of shape. I made good money at a dive, but it took 6 months for me to really start making great money. I pretty much felt like a Newb stripper because the clubs in NY are much different than the clubs in Cali.
Not to sound like a broken record, but kind of like everyone else's answers, once I became skinny and blonde, money flowed much easier for me. I did this six months after I started stripping back up again. I recouped the cost of bleaching my hair at expensive salons and my yearly gym membership right away. Also I stopped tanning and wearing heavy makeup, and my money definitely shot up because of that.

Also it was around this time that I tried urban clubs and haven't looked back since. I'll only work a lap dance club if I need some extra cash. And since working urban clubs, I've learned that when dealing with crazy ratchet bitches, it's best to avoid conflict. Anytime a girl has tried to start something with me, she is usually drunk and management will take my side because I don't drink so I look a little more reputable in their eyes.

Oh yea and around this time is also when I stopped drinking at work because I got sick. At first, I was bummed because I definitely made more money drunk, but it forced me to become a better hustler. So yea in 6 months, everything changed for me for the better. My hustle can only get better from here.
