Default What Kept You From Quitting Camming?

With the influx of newbies to the board lately, and Sam38g post here taking about how most camgirls quit in the first two weeks (https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...=1#post2619852) which I have no problem completely believing is true.............it has me thinking of all the reasons I didn't give up camming despite the huge learning curve in the first two weeks.

So, I ask you. Why didn't you give up in the first two weeks of camming? What drove you to keep doing it then? Are they the same reasons that continue to drive you now?

I didn't quit in the first few weeks, because I'm use to working, and have a strong work ethic. I don't think I will quit at this point, because I put in soooo much time building up my regulars, and perfecting my niche. Even if I only work 10 hours per week, instead of the usual 30-40, It will be worth it.
At this point, I'm not in it for the money anymore, because it's been too unstable, and I don't like the fact that people are controlling my earnings behind the scenes. (I figured that one out a year into camming).

Unless the companies I work for go under, I will continue.

Well, camming was/is my first job. I started because I had always wanted to be a dancer but was too big. I had attempted to be a sugar baby but realized I didn't want to be around a bunch of older men. At the time I thought escorting = street based sex work and wasn't sure I could handle it. Then I found camming and never looked back. My first site was MFC and it was just a blast.. I mean, getting paid to look hot and have fun? Hell yeah! The money and the attention kept me around (plus I was super desperate for money). It didn't take long for me to figure out that camming was the perfect job for me and here I am nearly a year and a half later.

I don't really know what to say, because I pretty much LOVED my first two weeks. There were low points - I wasn't hardened to all the scamming and actually felt uncomfortable when guys made really disgusting requests - but overall, I was sort of thinking, "Wow, I found my thing."

Because I was earning money and enjoying it...I didn't have unrealistic expectations...I wanted to work from home, part-time...I'd had demanding careers in the past.

I never thought about quitting. I made money from the get-go, not like I make now but more than I was making working in a dungeon doing pro-switch (domme & sub roles) work, which was SO much more stressful. I found it amazing to make money from home, safely and letting my kink shine. It was perfect for my introspective, socially anxious ways and gave me time to paint, ah life was simpler then.

It is because I've always made good money. I'm also an attention whore so that makes it hard to quit.

I needed/wanted money, and I made more than in any other job I had, including a short period of time when I cammed for a studio about 4 years ago. I keep doing it because I like it more than any other job I had and I think is perfect for me, there are negative aspects but they are not enough to quit. (I quited then because my partner didn´t accept it and my family found out, right now, other people´s opinions don´t worry that much)
I worked for a studio, as I said, a long time ago, and lot´s of my friends are in related bussines, some of them camming, some of them escorting, modelling, etc. I think girls that quit do it because they don´t fully understand the job or don´t have enough consistency. I saw lot of girls starting with very high expectations, thinking that men would throw money to them because they were pretty, and thinking that masturbate on cam would be enough to keep a bunch of customers in their rooms. When they realized that it doesn´t work that way, most of them got frustrated and quit...There were like 50 girls in that studio by then, probably about 5/10 continued camming a year later, right now I only know 2 who still in the business.

I have always loved camming as a part time job. Changing and learning keeps me on my toes and I like that. Full time, I think would be a different story. I would rather work 2 jobs than cam full time.

    Great thread JAC

Because I started super part time camming [which was fun] and then the kitchen I was working for went bankrupt and they decided to let us work an entire pay period before telling us they wouldn't be paying us [assholes!] so I was forced to dive in head first as I was suddenly short a grand...and I LOVED IT. I realized quickly I was making more than the $15/hr I had been making to slave in a kitchen cooking, cleaning and baking. And that I loved it, being a natural performing artist.

Now even when I don't make a lot or burn out I just think about that first week and don't give up.

Easy. I could work from home, whenever I wanted. If I want to stop for whichever reason, I could go back as soon as I wanted to without any explanation to anyone. I'm just sick of working for people who's just stupider than me. I thought I could take it but I can't. I don't have that problem with camming. Of course dealing with stupid customers can be exhausting but hey, as long as they pay good money I just don't fucking give a damn.

Ugh, I worked for a couple weeks at a vanilla job and I swear, wearing that much clothing was highly uncomfortable. Everything felt awful. Wedgies galore. Naked is sooo much better

I knew it was the only way out of a bad relationship so I kept to it! after 2 weeks I had enough to move and after I got my first check, I left. I've never looked back. Plus, I HATED selling wedding dresses. 9 hour days on your feet, 5 days a week, in heels and not being allowed to show off any of my cleavage... F that! Plus, I'm a total hermit personality type... so sitting around in my panties and crop top while not having to actually hear another person's voice for days on end makes me happy.

I can take the first couple days of my period off instead of doping myself up on Vicodin due to the pain. I also don't get yelled at for using the bathroom every 45 minutes to an hour due to it! Oh, added bonus: unless you work for a studio, you're your own boss... so our bosses are super hot.

Edit: I'm also a terrible sugar baby. I don't like being at someone's beck and call. I also don't like the idea of everything being snatched out from under me instantly. Camming, as up and down as it is, normally still pays the bills even at it's worst and provides some security.

because my first 2 weeks of camming was amazing. it started getting shit for me at about the 3month mark. by that time id had a taste of success so i carried on. now-a-days i make min. wage (for fulltime hours) but only actually work about 10 hours a week as apposed to the 41 i'd have to work in a regular job. i could make so much more if i logged on more, but for me, money isn't that important it's the free time that i couldnt live without.

To me, camming is like an intense relationship. Some days you love him/her, some days you want to throw in the towel and give it all away. My first two weeks were amazing and not much has changed except I log in a lot more than I did when I first started. The thing is, no matter how much you fight, or walk away, camming is always there with open arms. You are guaranteed money DAILY (even if it's $0.50) as long as you get your booty on cam. I've walked away from camming for years, I've "quit" but I've also come back and could pick up where I left off. Most of all what keeps me from quitting 100% before my final day is that I have goals to meet and camming is my key to leaving the industry as of now. I know that I can make X amount of money and leave for years (perhaps never returning) and she'll most likely still be here. I love the freedom I get from camming which is why I didn't quit for good years ago.

I love everything about camming when I think of the alternative, which would be a "normal day job".. having to: work 8 houres, driving to work, dressing up appropriate, toning down makeup, actually having conversation and having to face people, listen to a boss, having the weight of your job on your shoulders even when you are free (health care sector), working for way less money and putting in more time.
I woudnt be able to: be with my cats when I want to, go out with my partner when I want too (staying up late, or taking days off), see my parents who live in another country as much.

It was love at first sight. It took me a year to finally have the courage to start camming, but I loved it instantly. I love the sexuality, the teasing, the money and being in control (over your own job and over men). I love that I can be whoever I want to be, creating my own little world, and look the way I like to look (instead of dressing down to fit in at a normal job)
I just cant imagine having a "normal job", because that would require me to be normal .

honestly, my first two weeks sucked but I new it'd get better. Plus I had literally no other way to earn money. I had just turned 18, high school drop out, no work experience (and intense anxiety problems lol) and I knew that camming was something i could handle and make money at. I've never even considered quitting, the longer I've worked the better its gotten
