Honestly, I have quit before. However, it was because I was younger and really didn't see it as a real job. I was "brainwashed" for lack of a better term, that vanilla is life, anything else is just extra. BOY WAS THIS WRONG. Years in vanilla had BURNED ME OUT, not camming. At least with camming you can take ANY day off, not so much in vanilla!
You can totally earn a living, meet goals much faster, work as little or much as you want, etc. You still have time to pursue anything else you may want as well. The benefits outweigh the bad days like 100 to 1. :-)

It actually never occurred to me to quit. This is my second job and I knew I didn't want to go back to my first job, so I didn't. From the beginning I knew that the minute my naked body was on the Internet a lot of doors were closed to me so I was careful about my decision.

Lately I've been thinking about my exit strategy more and more, but that's less of a "this is too hard, I quit!" thing and more of a slow recognition that I may not have the patience, discipline, and personality for this job in the long-term. I'm an introvert who never liked having a boss but I'm beginning to realize that I need structure and broad social interaction, and I suck at forcing those things on myself.

While I haven't been a super steady cammer, I've done clips for a while. To be perfectly honest, I don't quit because I'm too fat to strip anymore. If I had the willpower to stick to a healthy diet and exercise, I would still be on the pole. There were certain things I got accustomed to doing while dancing, that I just can't go back to vanilla work. I like taking vacations whenever I want. I enjoy being the center of attention. It's fun to meet interesting people (occasionally). I like earning my own money. So even if I only earn $200 a month with clips until I can get back to SM, I'm super happy.

#1 Working my own hours and being my own boss. (I DID think about quitting those first two weeks... but when I thought about working for JUST ONE MORE asshole boss, yes I'd rather ram more dildos into my vagina.)

#2 Making double $$ what I made as a waitress for 1/4 of the work (even in my first two weeks)

#3 It gave me like a million "cool girlfriend" points

#4 A FIRE sparked inside me... For the first time I felt ALIVE... I knew I would never be the same again... (I didn't know it at the time, but I was GROWING A SPINE!!!, I have developed a more opened mind, I have improved confidence and self-worth, and I also know how to say "NO" now, even IRL)

i wanted to add what IvyRose said... Being yourself, or being whoever you want to be. Play the game Fuck, that's a job that actually makes me happy. Never happened to me before. Except when I was I semi poker pro.

I can boss around people and getting paid. It just gets better and better. Sure you have bad days and it's easy to quick if you have huge expectation from the beginning (like SM saying you can earn up to 10000 per week when only top models can. But there I was some weeks ago complaining about making 15$ an hour and now I'm averaging 45$...

I might stop someday, who knows, who cares, nobody will question me on this, and i wont answer if i dont feel like to.

^^That would be a great title for a book... "I was born to be a cam girl'.

or, "From Call girl to Cam girl", would be cool also.

This is my answer, too. Sex work was sort of a fantasy for me since I was a young teen. Issues of legality, social acceptability, and safety prevented me from pursuing it, though. I didn't realize that camming existed, so I thought the only options were callgirl/escort, hooker, and stripper. I wasn't interested in hooking, didn't think I had what it takes to be an escort, and definitely don't have the dancing ability to be a stripper. So I did the "proper" vanilla thing, went to college, got a job my parents could be proud of, and stuck with it for several years even though I hated it. I finally quit when I realized that I was literally going to die if I stayed in that job. I was losing weight alarmingly fast, wasn't eating or sleeping, and my mental health was ruined.

When I was free and exploring job options, I once again started thinking about sex work. By that point, I had learned that there were other options, like pro-Domme/sub, lingerie cleaning girls, etc. Then my husband brought up camming. I assumed it was too good to be true - I thought either the money would be shit or it wasn't actually legal. When I found out more about camming, it was a done deal. It was what I wanted, and I haven't ever considered doing anything else (aside from branching out into related stuff like clips and panties). There were a few months when I took a break from camming (and pretty much everything else in life), but only because I needed to resolve lingering health issues, not because I wanted to quit camming.

I would add that I started camming with some advantages. At that point I still had a lot of savings built up, so I was able to start slow and get a feel for things without too much concern for the money. I also think the "meant to be a cam girl" factor was helpful, because my earnings were pretty good even at the beginning.

Actually, I'm more curious to know about the 80% of girls that quit in the first two weeks. Is that a real statistic? Why are they giving up so fast? Are the first two weeks really that bad for some people?

    This.

I had already been doing PSO work for a year, and because it wasn't bringing in enough money, I decided to take the leap into camming. I was astounded by the money that came in…and the fact that there were actually men who would PAY to see me naked!! As a SSBBW, I was so floored by the positive comments (I STILL have not gotten a single man/troll who's put me down!)…The money and flexible schedule and being my own boss are all awesome…but the confidence it's given me in real life has been priceless to me. I don't think I'll ever stop camming!

    Quitting isn't an option.

I think many quit in the first couple weeks because it's NOT easy money. I would guess it's more like the first couple months rather than weeks. First couple weeks can be amazing, then the "new" status wears off and you are thrown into reality.

Also I kind of think you either have what it takes when it comes to this job, or you don't. You'll know pretty fast, and those who don't have it quit. It's definitely not for everyone.
    xoxo ~ Sarah

Haha, if you asked me before knowing anything about camming and you asked if I would feel sexy knowing a bunch of dudes are wanking at me my response would have been close to ewww but dunno why, it a fucking boost to self-esteem. I've never been more in control.

The money? Seriously though, I hatehateHATE being told what to do. I am super comfortable with my sexuality. I burned my bridges at the club I was dancing at but needed an outlet. Going online and telling guys off AND get paid bank for it? Yup yup!

What keeps me from quitting camming is how easy it is to make assholes disappear before they stink up the place.

Tell him "brb" and go afk indefinitely.
    Kick him.
    Ban him.

^^ I would just check to see if those titles are taken yet. If they are not not, jump on it, Why not? I bet tons of people would buy it.
I used to be in sales and marketing, so I smell a successful book in the makings!
Let us know how it goes, and best of luck!
P.S. I'm working on a similar book, only mine is based on my experience on being a dancer, and then cam girl.

My first two weeks weren't bad, sorry to hear it's rough for some of the other girls. I wasn't too computer savvy and had a $20 cam, but I'm cute and had the frustration of leaving dancing at the time motivating me. You spend the night fighting off drunk guys old enough to be your father often enough, any other job looks good. I definitely didn't bank, but I averaged like 20 an hour and it was nice to be considered hot on an international level. Plus, I was still dancing off and on and shared the new job with girls, who, in turn, would tell customers it meant I didn't like them. No shit. Years later, I'm still very happy and while my earnings do fall down to what I made those first few weeks, it's what I'd make if I was working in my area of training, minus the shitty hours, back breaking labor, and abusive patients. Oh, and I dislike pants and like having windows open to netflix and sw in between shows PS-my first week, we had a blizzard that made my car....iglooed in, not sure how else to put it, for three days. So I had nothing to do but tan, order Chinese, and figure out how camming worked.

I love camming for all the reasons everyone else stated-flexibility, working from home, being myself, attention, and most of all-MONEY! I can take as long as I want off and always come back. Also, I've gone through some serious rough periods in the past few years and it's been amazing to always have this job to fall back on...I went through some serious health issues for a while and had trouble holding down a 9 to 5...camming let me work my own hours and saved my ass hard

Also, I have always been fascinated by sex work, I find it incredibly empowering...but I'm too anxious and antisocial and can only really enjoy it over the distance of a computer
