Default Horrible teeth, advice on what I could do?

I'm so self conscious over this and I have decided to post here since I see the best advice posted here. I used to love my teeth, my smile was one of my biggest compliments up until about 2 years ago. To put it shortly, I got severely attacked at the beginning of 2012, my teeth weren't knocked out luckily but about a month later they started deteriorating very rapidly. If anyone can answer this for me it would be great but since there was no visible damage to my teeth right after my attack I'm not sure how this actually happened but it is the only thing that makes sense because my teeth were fine right up until this happened so I am still confused .

Anyways, to make it worse it is my 4 front teeth, the worst ones are actually my 2 front teeth, then the one to the right and my canine. My 2 front teeth have a huge black spot in the middle and over the time it has gotten worse they have completely separated from each other so a huge chunk of both of those teeth are gone. If I could just make it look like a gap that would be fine but it is very obvious that isn't what it is. I'm pretty sure the problem started with my front teeth and spread because the ones beside of them are deteriorating from the gum so I really need to do something soon while it is just 4 teeth.

My sister has a dental assistant degree but doesn't currently work, she says the cheapest thing will be to get them pulled and get a plate because they are beyond being able to get filled. I am fine with that. My problem is that is going to cost about $1,000 that I don't have. I have thought about dancing again just to make enough but they have gotten so bad that a club won't hire me, I went to a club and the manager actually gave me a gross look and asked what happened to my teeth and he could not hire me. I tried a few more clubs and didn't get hired, probably for the same reason but maybe the managers were nice enough not to say something so disrespectful because besides my teeth I think I am perfectly fine, I never got turned down for even the most upscale clubs until this happened.

So do any of you have any advice on what I could do to give them a temporary fix or to help hide this? I can't hide them by just trying not to show them, the way my mouth is shaped show my teeth when I talk with no way of covering them with my top lip, I guess I kind of have one of those chipmunk shaped top lips, lol. The best thing I can find for a low income dentist is 50% off if I can qualify, there are absolutely no other options I can think of.

I also wanted to add that camming is not an option what so ever with my current living situation. This problem has me stuck between a rock and a hard place not being able to work because of this so not being able to get the problem fixed because I can't work, a regular job won't even hire me

Maybe there are dentists that offer financing in your area? They do where I am. The interest rate is horrible- super high generally esp if you don't have good credit, but in an emergency that may do the trick. Good luck whatever you do. I was in a car accident and mine are kind of messed up too, not as badly as you describe but i will have them fixed soon w/ cam money. What about a flipper? http://health.howstuffworks.com/well...pper-teeth.htm

Are there any dental schools in your area? To give you an example of price difference: My boyfriend needed to get a bunch of cavities filled, some root canals and crowns, and his wisdom teeth extracted. A dentist quoted him about $17,000 for all of the procedures plus anesthetic and said it would take about 2 or 3 months to get everything done. We went to a dental school in the area, and over the course of about 5 or 6 months, he had all of the work done for about $2400.

Also, have you thought about making clips? You don't have to show your face or talk in them, and you could film a couple here and there when no one else is around you.

I doubt I would qualify for financing, even with bad credit I don't have a stable job to prove. I do side work like cleaning houses and stuff to get by so I'm sure they would need reliable income even for bad credit financing and having someone sign for me isn't an option either.

I have never heard of flippers but I did click that link and read about them. It seems like they will only work if my teeth are already pulled though. If they are much cheaper than a plate that can be an option if I can only come up with enough to get them pulled. From what my sister has told me it will cost around $500 to pull my teeth and around $500 for a plate. Ideally I would rather keep my teeth and get them crowned but that will require a root canal and crowns which jacks the price up to about $8,000.

Wow, that is a huge difference in price. I have thought about checking out the schools here, we have a lot of schools around where I am from so if I could really find something that will take that much off the price that would be great. I asked my sister about it a while back and she said at best they might be 50% cheaper so I didn't think that was any better than the low income dentist in my area but she could be wrong, I'm going to call around and find out myself.

Oh, I didn't even think of making clips, thanks for reminding me of that Hey, maybe there are even some guys with a bad teeth fetish, lol.

Okay, I originally heard about them on a show about little pageant girls, but my niece did have temps for a while that were fitted over her teeth (she had spaces) and looked great, temporarily.

dentists in my area don't take new patients very often or finance so i know what you mean...is there a family member who can put you on their dental plan with their dentist?? only 1000 dollars is very cheap for dental work, esp with teeth that damaged!

If you've got open availability like my boyfriend does (he does freelance stuff), then you'll get the work done a lot faster as you'll be taking peoples' cancellation appointments. Most of the cost he paid went to lidocaine injections for the cavities. I think it was $25 or $30 per injection. And then the laughing gas for his wisdom teeth was $150 or so. The crowns were a couple hundred each, too, and then a small fee to come back for the permanent crown fittings.

Also, check out a plan called Careington. www.careington.com
It's a supplemental plan (it's not insurance), and my dentist gave me about 70% off of the total a couple of years ago when I needed some cavities filled. You can check for doctors in your network like you would with insurance, and then call and make sure that they do take the plan.

I'm hoping it is that cheap, lol. To get front teeth pulled shouldn't be that much if they can just do a simple extraction but I always thought partials were a little more than $500 for 4 teeth, I'm just going by what my sister said and I haven't called around to verify with the dentists which is something I should do. Fingers crossed she is right.

I really don't have much family I talk to, so someone putting me on their insurance isn't an option. I'm kind of by myself on this one

Oh, that would be perfect for a temporary fix so I can work and make good money again. I will see what I can find on something like that.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I think I am going to give this Careington a try. There are 2 dentists in my town that accept it which is pretty good, this town isn't that big. I'm sure using this is probably better than the low income dentist that probably isn't going to be as good as the dentists that accept this and I will probably be able to get seen sooner, most low income places seem to have a forever waiting list.

Do any of you know how long I would have to wait before I could make an appointment and use this? I'm not sure if it will be acceptable to sign up for it and make an appointment the same day, lol.

You could apply for Care Credit and then immediately call and ask for like 15k and they will counter your offer and raise your limit.

I haven't heard of Care Credit, I just Googled it and it seems like they are pretty reasonable on accepting people even with bad credit. I'm going to give it a try and keep my fingers crossed they approve me
