Default Etiquette for leaving a club?

I've been dancing for six months, and I'm leaving the first club I danced at because I realized how terrible it is. I recently had my first night at a different (better) club, and I realized what I was missing... Den mother with food and outfits, it was actually clean with competent management, the atmosphere was professional, it didn't CLOSE EARLY because of no customers. I was so much happier there, and made much better money.

Anyways, my question is: is there any standard etiquette I should follow for leaving a club? How much notice am I expected to give? I'd like to be out of there as soon as possible, but I want to be professional about it.

Depends on the size of the club, how close you are with management, and whether they schedule you for shifts or not. Truthfully, 99% of clubs don't give a shit when a dancer leaves. As in, it'd be weird to even contact a manager and offer a reason for leaving. Dancers are a dime a dozen in this industry.

Especially since it doesn't sound like you want to return to your first club, I'd say just leave and never look back!

    ^ That.
I've disappeared for many months and come back and just been like "Oh yeah I switched clubs for a while" and they didn't give a shit. You're giving them another house fee, so it'd be stupid for them to turn you down.

Don't say anything. They don't care.

I'm a firm believer in not burning any bridges, just in case. When I left my homebase for the first time to explore my options, I gave them a two weeks notice. Then two years later when I wanted to come back at least I was able to cuz I had left on good terms.

I would politely tell them you're leaving. You can make up an excuse if you want, say you're just taking a break from dancing or something. I usually let a club know when I'm leaving just to keep communication good on my part. But like many girls have said, most clubs won't care either way. You can just leave and never come back, or come back in 6 months, or in a year, whatever.

if you don't have a schedule, i would just tell the manager that you need to take a break for awhile, or come up with another excuse but don't leave in bad terms!!! you never know when you may need to come back.
if it's a scheduled club, i'd work the rest of your schedule for that week/month and then let them know you'll be leaving.
damn, i wish i worked at whatever clubs you guys work at! if i just didn't show up for my shifts ( they schedule you for a month in advance), they would be pretty pissed at me and i'd be fired.

No, I totally agree. Work the rest of your scheduled shifts. I've only worked at clubs that either don't have schedules or only schedule a week at a time.

I'm going to agree with the posters who said that if you're scheduled, tell them you're taking time off and need a break. Make up some excuse, I wouldn't tell them you are going to another club. Some club managers actually get offended if they know one of their girls is leaving to go work for a competing club and won't let them come back if they find out, or will go on a power trip and make the girl beg to come back.

^This. It's always good to leave on a good note (if possible), just in case .

When I want to leave a club, I just don't make a new schedule. No notice necessary in most places. If you are a paid employee, then the circumstances may be different. I worked as a paid employee/ dancer and would work other clubs on my days off.

ETA: I've worked at probably 100 clubs over the years (not exaggerating), and have never had a problem just taking my name off the schedule. You don't need to say why, just tell them to take you off the schedule for a while. If you have regulars you want to follow you to the new club, get their contact info and discreetly tell them where they can find you in the future.

I would just say you're taking a break from dancing or moving elsewhere for a while-- in LA I would say I was going to go visit some family for a few months, things were getting too crazy with school, etc, and it was never a problem. Most managers won't care as long as you don't fuck them over with scheduled shifts or or go to their rival club or something.

I'd finish out my schedual and just tell them that I am going to take a break for a little while. Most clubs don't mind if you finish out your schedule.
