Default The right thing to do...

So, I was standing by the beer tub with a customer friend who found money on the floor and handed it to me without looking at it. The bills were folded in half and then again as though they'd been in a pocket or maybe tucked inside of thigh highs. It was several hundred dollars. I went back and gave it to the housemom and told her that I'd found it and asked her to keep an ear out for any girls who might have lost money. I also told the main floorman that I'd found it and left it with her, in case it belonged to a customer who noticed.

She contacted me via text just now to say that none of the girls had come up missing money and asked me what to do with it. I asked her to hang onto it for a couple days and see if it might belong to one of the girls from day shift or possibly that customer might call to claim it, but if it isn't claimed, then I'll tip out accordingly to the housemom and the DJ. I don't know what else to do.

    What are your thoughts?

That's very nice of you! Most girls would have just taken it and kept it. If I lost money at work I don't even think I would ask around about it. The chances of someone doing something like what you did are sooo slim. If no one claims it, I suppose you could just keep it?
I can't help but feel like this is one of those "faith in humanity restored" stories. There are still good and decent people in the world

    I feel very... flattered.

It's always been very important to me to have integrity, I think. I've had money go missing before and it's soul-crushing, esp as it was worth well over an hour of VIP. I'd rather earn my money fairly. I've been dancing for almost 12 years now, and it's things like that that keep me myself. I don't want to feel like shit when I look at myself in the mirror the next day.

If no one claims it and you don't feel comfortable keeping it, you could always donate it to a local charity.

All those people who think strippers are soulless, conniving, money-hungry sharks- I wish they could see this!

i don't think anybody is going to claim it..i've lost money in the club before, and i didn't even think to ask around..like, hundreds of dollars left on the floor of a stripclub..that's shit's long gone!
i'm also surprised at the house mom. a lot of house mom's i know would just say "yeah a customer came and claimed it" and just take it for themselves. if nobody takes it, put it towards a good cause

You have a lot of integrity and I respect you. I would have turned it in but suspect someone would have stolen it because that's how most strip club workers are. I have lost money and never thought to ask if it was found because of it.

You're a better person than I am. I would have kept it. Of course if I heard anyone complaining they'd lost money, I'd turn it in to them. But I wouldn't actively search for who had dropped it

It's really awesome that you have such a trustworthy housemom!

Yeah if no girl says she lost it then I guess it must have been a customer who wrote it off as being gone (or was too drunk to notice). Their loss is your gain. You definitely did what you could.

Giiiirl, I would have pocketed that and been outta there. IF....I heard someone was looking for it I would come forward. I found a platinum ring and later heard someone was looking for it and I gave it back to her. Otherwise--it's in my pocket!

Me too. I wouldn't trust the staff to do the right thing and would be taken for a chump if I turned the money in to management. There is also a good chance that if another girl overheard me telling management that I found some money, she would claim that she lost it. Hell, girls try to blame each other for stealing money they themselves spent on drinks. Last week a dancer took home several hundred in funny money, lost the funny money at a bar she visited after work, then came into work the next day claiming someone stole from her. She pointed the finger at staff and customers alike. After ranting to everyone and basically throwing a temper tantrum all day, the bar manager of the place where she left her funny money, called to say they found it. There was over $400 in funny money with our club's name all over it.

The sad thing is that a big spending regular and a couple of decent dancers got swept up in the drama. The regular called me to say he won't be back and if I want to dance for him I can find him at the club down the street.

its not stealing if you find it. of course its nice to keep an eye out for smeone who has lost it or turn it in but if you find $ on the floor and keep it youre not a thief and its rude to say "thats how most strip clubs are" because anybody at any job or a customer at any bar would be just as likely to do the same thing.

^And she didn't even find the money; her customer did. Are we really going to start policing how our customers get the money they spend on us?

If it's not yours it's stealing. The good thing is to find anything and turn it in. For all someone knows it could be the life's savings of an elderly man.If the club told her to keep it, that's another story and many places allow the person to keep it if no one asks for it. As for stealing in clubs, there is another thread talking about the stupid stuff strippers stealing. It's not rude to say strip clubs are famous for having thieves, they are. Everyone can pretend that most strippers are like the women here but that would be a lie. I've had many things stolen by other dancers.
