Question Good 'Starter' smartphone for a dummy?

Lol, I'm finally going to upgrade my cheapie cell, I don't want an overly expensive phone, & will be using prepaid service..suggestions? I'd like it to have a speakerphone feature, if possible..

LG Optimus ... available pretty cheaply from Net10 and other discount providers, as well as Verizon ... with 'no contract'.

I use a ZTE Valet with TracFone. It works well for me and is reasonably priced.

Tho lower end iPhone is most like a smartphone with trainer wheels. Android is more of a challenge but worth it for the adventuresome. I'm a Galaxy fan by the way.
