This is more of a vent, but I have to let it out: most women who practice pole dancing outside of stripping are snobs!!!!!!

Okay..I think someone posted an article written by one of them, she did bash us
MANY MEN WANTED TO LAY ME DOWN, BUT FEW WANTED TO LIFT ME UP
-Eartha Kitt

^what article was it?
I have noticed this. When I've gone in for pole dancing classes or to a studio to practice they always ask me where I've trained and when I say "nowhere I've just danced for years" they give me this look like "oohhh uhhm okay." I think they're just jealous that we make so much more money than 95% of them!
I agree...

Some even have the nerve to say shit like "oh, but I would never dare to take my clothes off JUST to dance for a few bucks!" or they'd say "I can be all sexy and sultry but still conserve my dignity". Not all of them are like that, but a good number are!

Yup! This is sooo true. I find it so annoying.

"I do it for my husband"... *eye roll*
While her husband is at his local strip joint. Haha

I tried to find it, & couldn't..looked in Ind. Insight & Stripping
MANY MEN WANTED TO LAY ME DOWN, BUT FEW WANTED TO LIFT ME UP

absolutely! talk about profession appropriation..lol..strippers busted their asses and broke their bones coming up with moves so you bored housewives can attempt to turn you husbands on. so don't look down on US

Yep. I'm in a pole dancing class, and although they are teaching moves perfected in the club (leg show? Hello! That is totally a stripper move!), the prudishness amongst the teachers is remarkable. I keep my career private and just say I'm an author researching a character.![]()

What about burlesque dancers?
Nope silly, its just a persona that entertains the masses, yourself included. - KS_Stevia

"im not a stripper, I'm a pole dancer"! *gasp* can't stand them!

I know a girl who teaches pole fitness and spouts all this bullshit about it being"about physicality, not about sexiness, it's about reconnecting with your feminine energy and strength. It's not sleazy like stripping" yet I've seen this girl follow strangers into the bathroom in clubs and suck their cocks just for attention.
We invented it, don't you dare look down on us! We could battle you in your prissy sports tops and bare feet, while we're wearing eight inch heels and are on our third vodka and coke and whip your stuck up arse!

I'm so sick of seeing shit on a Pinterest too like, "Calm down boys! Just because I'm a pole dancer doesn't make me easy!", "Sorry my pole fitness has led you to believe I'm a whore", and stupid ecards saying shit like "How dare you suggest my pole dancing is anything less than an empowering feminist journey of the self."
Ugh. Fuck all of 'em!!! They can get their feet wet and dabble in it but can't for a MOMENT even think about dealing with the stereotypes and judgement we deal with 24/7. They see they're doing it for "themselves" or their "husbands", but I guarantee it's to look "cool" or "progressive" to their friends.
They can seriously go suck a dick.

Ugh lame. I had a pole up in my old apartment. My arms were never so strong as when I practiced pole. I've never worked in a club though just on cam so im not a pole pro
When I was scrolling the net looking for cool pole stuff the hypocrisy was UNBELIEVABLE. "We are athletes not one of those SLUTS". Ummmm EXCUSE ME!? Yes there is no denyin it's a great work out but don't even try to fucking pretend that you didn't decide to try it because it's so stripper-ific!!
Honestly I just don't think that people that look down on strippers should be allowed to take pole classes. Anyone that runs around with that level of hypocrisy waving around in everyone's face should get a slap!

AMEN to all of you!!!!!!
Soooooooooo true regarding "civilian" pole dancers.

Not to generalize, but I've noticed this attitude from some women who do pole work but don't strip. It's just funny that they have this snob attitude of being better because they don't take their clothes off. But they can spin around the pole seductively in skimpy clothes and that's OK because guys aren't tipping them? There's a trend lately of non-strippers buying poles and learning to pole dance to impress their significant others and convince them that they can be just as sexy as the stripper... so they want the luxury of being deemed "stripper sexy" without having to actually strip for money, and when they look down on strippers in the process it's just so hypocritical. Plus any decent stripper tends to make a lot more than the average pole instructor or pole class student. Lol.
"Rather have my feet hurting than my pockets."

This stuff is why I've been scared to go to the pole studio ( I'm a retired exotic dancer ).
I'm going to go and just say I had a home pole for years ( which is true ). I'm just not one to stick my neck out on the whole " strippers are decent people " debate. In a way.. it's good they all don't dance in clubs. More $ for those that do!

It is the business of no one at a studio, why you are there or how you came by the skills you already have. If you do not want to come out & admit your dancing history (no prob whether you do or not) just tell them you learnt from Utube. That is where I get the majority of my instruction from![]()

^Yeah. I went the website and reserved my pole classes / practices for next week! I'll just make up something as I go . I agree. It's none of anyone's business what I've done pole dance wise ! I never looked BETTER than when I danced frequently . If I can even get half my muscles back, I'll be pleased.
If anyone asks what studio I was a part of ... I know it'll take some self control not to say " the studio of needing cash " so I'm already preparing.![]()

I want to take pole lessons just so that it's a way for me to stay fit(it is a good workout) and entertain myself while I'm working. Not really to enhance my income, bc most men don't even give a shit about pole tricks on stage(in my area, we don't make stage money usually). It's usually female customers that get all excited. If these housewives only knew that their men don't come to see us for pole tricks. Lol.
Anyway. If I ever do take lessons, I will shove it in everyone's face if they ask. I have good come backs for judgemental assholes.

I was really lucky. The owner of my pole studio liked strippers, and hired them to be teachers. I got pointed out for how good I was, because the teachers all knew I was a dancer. So not all studios are the same, and the student's attitudes will be based on the instructors.

When I took a few pole classes it was a cool place. A few of the instructors were current dancers who taught for fun and because they were top notch pole performers. I didn't really chat other people up though, so who knows if I would have gotten crap or not.
I feel like the pole is one of those things that is "ours" as strippers. Other chicks can dance on the pole all they want, but they'll never understand how awesome it is to entertain a group and be rewarded with a bunch of money. That's their loss.
