    Thumbs down belly fat

10268658_10152284323764471_4745042645675482059_n.jpg this is kind of my goal..

after getting fat shamed last night ( that really hit me hard! esp considering i'm not even close to the biggest girl that they employ), its shocked me into getting back in shape. my meds are going to have to change, which really sucks because they've helped my mental health and for the first time i'm actually feeling happy, but my money has taken a big hit lately.
but i don't want to go back to what i was, which was crackhead skinny with a gaunt bony face, kinda flat ass, and no boobs. i love how my ass looks now, its incredible..i love my full face, my soft arms, my thighs..but the stomach has to go!
i realize you cannot spot lose, but i'm wondering if you ladies have any helpful hints? i don't eat junk food, or drink soda. i eat healthy fats, cut back on gluten, salad every night, green and white tea, nuts, avocados, berries, dark chocolate, eggs, fish, etc. so very healthy. i am "thick" and very firm everywhere except for my belly..which is developing a pooch. i'm just so afraid i will go back to having a flat ass and bony face, and that's the only way i'll lose the slight belly! so right now i'm not quite sure how to go about this, so asking you experienced ladies! thank you!

I struggle with my stomach too! Ugh. It sucks because a soft stomach is a proxy for looking overweight, you know? I'm actually very thin so whoever criticized you, don't take it personally. It's like cellulite. Any body can have it!

Could you go on a mild diet? Like instead of losing a zillion pounds and becoming gaunt again, could you lose 5 pounds?

What has been successful for me has been working my abs harder than I ever thought necessary. That and watching what I eat on work days. I haven't actually lost any weight but these have helped me obtain definition and flatness.

Ugh girl I hate to tell you this but you can't just pick and choose what you want to get rid of. :/ Mother nature and genetics are cunts like that. You're going to have to knock down the old structure and start from scratch.
Try to bring your overall body fat % down. You will lose your ass temporarily. Next is to start with weight training. Squats gave me a PHENOMENAL ass.

^ Yes, girl, do weights now and keep doing them all the time! Seriously, weights are the best thing for a dancer. They're what makes you look fit, toned, and hot. Don't worry about getting bulky. It's a common misconception that you'll do a few sets and the next morning you'll have blown up like Arnold. (It takes a lot of time, effort, and dedication for that to happen!)

And 100% yes to what Tempest said about squats for your ass. Even if your ass looks amazing, squats will just make it look perkier and better.

Anyway, to answer your question about what I do for my abs…

    1. I have a bosu ball at home, which I usually do 4-5 sets of 20 crunches 3x a week (should do more ) I like this because it's so easy on my old ass back.
    2. Every ab weight machine at my gym, there are like 4 of them. Sorry I have no idea what they're called, but if using them makes my abs sore then I go with them!
    3. Incline sit-ups! I try to do 2-3 sets of 12-15 reps at a pretty severe incline
    4. Ab-centric yoga poses and aerobics. Planks, cat-cow poses with leg lifts, and boat pose/v-sits.
    5. Roman chair leg lifts are excellent for getting a V.

I still have the same amount of fat on my abs as I always have, but it sits better now. Think of your fat as a drape. If it's hanging on a pillow, it'll look like a blob. If it's hanging over a washboard, it'll look tight and flat. My abs used to look soft and "average girl" but now they're tighter and toned, like this chick's: http://www.discountstripper.com/esca...ty-shorts.aspx

I would say 30mins of cardio and 30mins of weights every day to start. I do 45mins of cardio 5 days per week and run 3km on Saturdays and Sundays. I go for overall lean-ness, so I don't do any weights, but this is what I'd recommend if you want to stay curvy.

Firstly It's great that you're feeling happier again! Don't lose sight of that!
And it sounds as if you're enjoying the parts of your body that you've seen as improved, now-It's just this little bit.

My stomach is my problem area for definite. I look toned when I'm dressed, but I have a pouch of fat on my belly that, unless I was to serious cardio every day (as in more than my daily 3/8mile runs) ,and cut calories down to a level that make me dizzy and miserable, it will NOT go!
(Lets' just forget that I drink far too much vodka as well).

Low-carb helped me no end, not atkins diet level but no more than 50g per day.

Upside down sit ups-lock legs around pole, lean back and start off with two or 3 sets of ten, work your way up, every other day.
Cardio is good, I stick a programme on the laptop and do 30 min to an hour on a X trainer (my friends'!) or run. Even brisk walking will help.

thanks for posting this thread-I'm going to look at the tips given, myself too.

You're a much slighter build than me and it sounds as if you're doing everything right.

It's true what's said above,I feel that having a bit of a belly makes one look overweight-whereas a large butt/legs, but toned stomach doesn't.

Having said all this, I do well in the club, and mostly guys look at the whole picture-they don't dissect parts of us. Keep your confidence up girl!

'Balcony over the Toyshop' or not, you're beautiful!

In my experience weight loss has a lot more to do with WHAT you eat than anything else...and maybe...sorry to say it, hormones?
After years of attempting to diet as an active teenager very involved with sports, who made her coaches constantly WTF at how much I weighed, I cleaned up my diet a titch at the same time as hitting my mid-20s and BOOM 60lbs gone. I think part of it was my metabolism "recallibrating" or something, and part of it was eating a higher % of raw, lean, healthy food in my diet. So changing your diet is very important, obviously, for me though I just think it's kind of wierd because I didn't completely stop eating crap, when PMS time comes around my ass is still in line for doritos and chocolate at the 7 Eleven. It is much less frequently though, and perhaps one of the "rules" in my diet that helps me "feel" like I haven't changed my eating habits that much is that I always buy the small size of junk food now. A tiny snack size bag of chips isn't going to throw the diet off kilter because you eat them, and they're gone in one go. A problem for me is having junk food be easily accessible. I need healthy food to be easily accessible because when I get most of my food cravings are at night when I'm lazy/it's cold/it's late/I just really don't want to go to the store right now and will obviously make the wrong choice and buy junk instead! Get to know your little eating quirks (we all have them), so you can tailor your diet to outsmart yourself! My two biggest ones were stress eating of bad carbs and eating out of boredom--cue meal plans and low calorie snacks!

Good luck with everything! And I'm sorry you got fat shamed at work that's terrible Try your best to brush it off--I know it's not easy--you're being proactive, that's good. Getting hottt is the best way to tell those fuckers to suck your hypothetical dick :p They're just jealous you get to go home with that fabulous bum of yours every night I'm sure!

^ yeah it could be hormones, my period has been 2 or 3 weeks late for the past 2 months! idk what's going in, i wish i had insurance right about now..i read that rapid weight change can affect it though. i try and eat obnoxiously healthy..raw and organic, but i've been mostly eating for great skin, hair and health without counting any calories :/ just so long as i don't get super lean, sinewy, and wiry..it just doesn't look feminine on me at all.

Of course. Women should always be doing some form of weight/resistance training.

If you really just want to cut some inches off your belly and not the rest of you, then I would focus more on exercising and doing an abdominal exercises (a lot of gyms have 15 minute ab workouts and that kind of thing) than going on a diet. A diet is just going to make you skinnier all over, and it's not going to give you a toned stomach or anything.

Other than that liposuction! God knows that how Kim Kardashian has those shapely hips, huge ass and big boobs

A sprint regimen 3x a week/ paired with eating lean meats and veggies and water and about 45 min of steady state cardio 3x a week will work wonders! Again, SPRINTING! does wonders for the aesthetics, it boosts your metabolic rate ( how fast you burn calories) and releases hormones that oxidizes fatty acids (FAT!). Make a plan, work it CONSISTENTLY for about 4-5 months. You will see RESULTS!
Bottom line you need some form of High Intensity training to basically set those fat cells on FIRE! (HIIT)

yeah i used to be a runner as a teenager, but my knees suffered some damage and i don't want saggy facial skin( better safe than sorry) so i do elliptical, biking, walking, swimming etc for cardio instead of running/jogging now. thinking of picking up some weights so i can do it at home as well as the gym for when i'm lazy and don't wanna leave the house. gonna go out for a good uphill hike right now!
i cut out processed sugar all this week, so proud of myself!
