    Default Advice/what to do next

So I went in to apply for a job dancing at the club I most want to work at (scary, exciting!), but the dance manager wasn't in so I just filled out an application form.

First - are they actually going to call me back? Do those things just go in a drawer & get forgotten about?

And if I don't hear from them should I follow up? How long should I give them & should I call or go back in?

I asked the girl on reception but she wasn't super helpful about timeframes and stuff - she was nice, it just seemed like she didn't have the answers to my questions.

I feel like a newbie at job hunting, not just a newbie stripper, but the rules are so different to the jobs I've done before.

    Thanks

Did you go on a weekend? If you did that's usually the busiest time. Give it a couple of days and then follow up. Best time to call/inquire is Sun/Mon?Tues late afternoon/early evening (if applicable). Make sure if you do go back in you are dressed presentably and your hair and makeup is done. Do NOT do what I did. (I didn't feel like auditioning so I lazily asked the manager on duty if I could just show him my tits. I got the job.)

haha, that's brilliant. No I went on a Monday because I figured it was quieter but I had to go early afternoon so I could make my class in the late afternoon.

My hair was a bit out of sorts thanks to the rain but I was all done up, I just figure the receptionist probably doesn't give a rats about all the randoms coming through the door for jobs so it would be easy to disappear in the pile.

I might give them a call late this week or early next week. Thank you - not exactly the kind of info I can run past my friends for feedback. They'd listen but they don't have the experience to go with it

Give them a day or two but do not put all your eggs in one basket, like any other job. While you wait to hear from the one place, take that time to explore other clubs. If you get hired elsewhere it may be polite to let your first choice know, but it is certainly not a rigid rule of etiquette the way it can be for a vanilla job.

Some clubs have open audition hours on certain days of the week so if you're looking at more than one place, call and get the info, preferably at a time of day when they're slow so you're not bothering anyone. Other clubs make you fill out an application first and then audition later. It really varies by club, but definitely try to get the most information you can.
It's also a good idea to go in before you audition/apply and scope the place out to decide if it's really a place you want to work. It also helps to see what the other girls are doing and wearing to know what will be expected of you at an audition. Some clubs have a "look" they prefer. Some don't.

Thank you both - I started with just the one as I know it better, I will have to do a bit more work to scope out the others before going in for a job (plus I really only had time to go into one the other day. I figure going in to one at a time is fine ... as long as I don't think I can leave it at just one).

I know I'm going to have to be willing to look at a few, I definitely have some others I think I'd like but I will have to take a little more time to scope them out.

    Thanks again
