Question Can you help us get started?

Hello everybody! We are a young couple interested in webcam modeling and we have a few questions:

    1) We are going to wear masks, and this is not an option. Will people automatically skip us because of this or if we make the show interesting and get creative with the masks will people come "visit" us anyway?

    2) Can the payment be anonymous? We have read that to join you must send a picture of you holding your ID, is this true for all sites?

    3) Can we choose our working hours?

    4) My girlfriend is smoking hot, but I'm a little "fluffy", but not too much. Will this influence the ratings?

    5) Which sites do you reccomend?

If you have any other tips please let us know

I assume you are based in the US. If so:

    1) No you won't be skipped.
    2) No payments cannot be anonymous.
    3) Yes you pick your hours.
    4) The girl matters much more than the boy so if you are not in the best shape it shouldn't affect rating. The girl and your attitudes will determine the ratings.
    5) Streamate, Myfreecams, Chaturbate

    1. You'll probably have a harder time wearing masks, especially if she wears one too. But you may do well if you have a good show and build up regulars. Your whole thing can be being masked, and you can use different masks for different occassions/holidays.

    2. Nope, nope and nope. No way around this-- it's a real, legit, legal job, and you have to provide your real, legit, social security number/other forms of ID.

    3. Absolutely. That's one of the greatest pleasures of camming.

    4. The girl matters much more than you, but keep in mind that if she's wearing a mask, she's considerably less hot.

    5. I work on Streamate, and couples seem to do very well there. But be prepared for a lot of douchebags who will insult you, your cock, and what you do/not do with it. That's what your "block" button is for.

If this is a boy/girl couple. If not ignore.

I was under the impression that MEN CANNOT POST IN THIS THREAD. If you plan on posting in here, your smoking hot girlfriend can post. But not you. That includes camboys. If you plan on being the main poster change that ribbon to blue, not pink. You may post in Other Work

Please do not deceive us. We are a tight knit group.

    okay here are some answers.

    1) We are going to wear masks, and this is not an option. Will people automatically skip us because of this or if we make the show interesting and get creative with the masks will people come "visit" us anyway?

You can wear masks, but you will more then likely get skipped. Camming is pretty personal. There are successful models who do get away with not showing their face or a veil. But very rare. Be prepared for people to ask to see your faces. ALL THE TIME.

    2) Can the payment be anonymous? We have read that to join you must send a picture of you holding your ID, is this true for all sites?
YES, they need to make sure you are not a minor. There is NO way around this.

    3) Can we choose our working hours?
    yes.

    4) My girlfriend is smoking hot, but I'm a little "fluffy", but not too much. Will this influence the ratings?
Men on cam are basically human dildos and will be considered a prop. Personality shines more then looks IMO

    5) Which sites do you reccomend?
I recommend Chaturbate for you guys if you plan on wearing the masks. Chaturbate is more gimmicky.

Other people have answered questions 2-5 for you, but i'm gonna take a shot at question 1 because I wore masks for the first 6 months of my camming career.

I am very paranoid about either:

    1. Someone I know seeing me and recognising me.
    2. Videos of my camshows being put up online and someone recognising me from that.
    3. If I apply for a "normal" job or loan, mortgage etc adult stuff being on my background check.

    Solutions:

    1. The chances of someone you know a. coming on to the camsite you work on, b. being online when you're online and c. coming into YOUR chatroom is very slim, but if this really worries you, the vast majority of sites have a Geoblocking function, which means you can block people who are accessing the site from any country/state/city. So if all your family/friends are in Oklahoma, block it!

    2. Here is an excellent thread that will teach you the basics on how to avoid your shows being filmed: https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...ted-Everywhere

    3. Here are 3 good threads on the topic of background checks: https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...kground-checks
    https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...rn-Up-Cam-Work
    https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/sh...ckground-Check

    My experience with masks:

I am from the UK, and the first ever camsite I worked on was Adultwork. Adultwork is UK based and pretty much all the customers there (or at least the ones that spend) are from the UK. For this reason, I always did and always will wear a mask when camming on Adultwork, because I didn't want family/friends recognising me, and there is no Geoblocking function on that site (that I know of).

But when I started working on American sites (specifically MFC and Streamate), I simply blocked the UK (there are a lot of customers from the UK and it is a shame to block it and lose potential money, but for me it is worth it). On MFC and SM, I show my face, but I do not just sit there in free chat with my face on the screen. I think that makes it too easy for people to take a snapshot/video of me. What I do is sit with my face visible from the nose down, so they can see the majority of my face but the lack of eyes makes me unrecognisable. Then every 30 seconds or when someone new enters the room, I show my whole face including eyes, just for a few seconds. When I am doing anything explicit, I do not have my face in the same frame as the explicit action. This way, no-one can take snapshot that contains my face and my pussy and ass with dildos in them!

As for whether people will skip you or you will lose money for wearing masks, the answer is a simple yes. When I worked on Adultwork and wore a mask at all times, i'd say about 20-30% of people left the room once I told them that I don't take the mask off. But 70-80% of them didn't care and still did a show. I made enough money for me to be happy with, and for me the 20-30% of people was not a high enough percentage to make me want to take the mask off. If it was more like 50%, I would have reconsidered. But for you, it might only be 5% that leave the room, or it could be 60%. It's different for everyone and you won't know until you try.

Put simply, the only way for you to know is to try. So give it a go, don't invest too much time/money in it, and review how much money you're making after a couple of weeks of trying, then you can decide whether you want to carry on and invest more into it or leave it. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the info, and having a wide variety of masks is kind of what we were aiming for.

Could you tell me how "gold" works on Stremate? I mean per gold how much do we get?

Gold is $. $1 gold = .35 cents earned to you, as long as you sign up directly through Streamatemodels.com and not through a studio. We earn 35%.

I don't have experience with masks, but I would imagine that it would be more difficult to have good regs. A lot of regs are very attracted to your personality, and your facial expressions have a lot to do with that. My body's pretty good (albeit a touch "fluffy," lol), and I have big tits, but my biggest selling points by far are a) my personality, b) my filthy mind, c) my face (which isn't unbelievably beautiful or anything). If I wore a mask, I'd lose out on the selling power of my face, and my personality just wouldn't translate as well without my facial expressions. Plus, I have several regs that just love watching my face as I cum - I could literally zoom in on my face and show nothing of my body, and they would be happy with it. I'd guesstimate that wearing a mask would probably cut my income by at least 50%.

Of course, it might be different for a couple, because that's a different kettle of fish than solo camming.

Since you're a b/g couple, here's some additional reading material that you really ought to check out. Not intended as discouragement, but being the guy on cam is VERY difficult, and you should be aware of some of the issues before you start.

You want to make money YET no one ever find out you are in the porn biz of camming.

Good luck.... Cause that isn't how the world works anymore.

Most people fail to make money at camming. ONLY 20% stick it out after 2 weeks. So you are thinking lots of $$$ for fucking which you do anyways. Guess again. Then you want to add mask which mean even less likely to make money.

People who use mask RARELY make money those who do know they have to up the ante & have a gimmick or are hard core hustlers.

Go look for your competition.. Go to all the cam sites & see the couples hustle. See how much they are making. See how they have to try and sell a show. Go do your research.

Hope your dick is HUGE! cause if it isn't.. Well Try recording your sex together. Then play it back. Can you see the insertion. Does it compare to the porn you watch? Do you REALLY have what it takes to get men to spend money? She might, but do you?

You might think I am harsh, but done porn for many years. Also done plenty of boy/girl cam shows. Custies love to hate on the guy, hell, they love hating on the girls. Comes with the territory. Better have a thick skin.

None of the customers care that you want to remain private & not have the whole world know that you do porn now.

Legally. Yes the companies need your real names, real IDs, real social security numbers. You are thinking about privacy, how selfish of you. Not to think that the company has to report taxes, have 2257 to make sure no underage people do this job. NO company is going to risk going to jail, risk their billing company or profits cause you want to do this & not be found out.

Yes, porn is forever. Pics, videos will be all over the web. They NEVER EVER go away. 90% likely your friends & family will find out. Most people cam from home, so their furniture & art work are also in the cam frame. Hell, I've had palm trees from my first scene recognised & guys knew the building. LMAO So you may wear mask but there is so much more to recognize & prove it was you.

So you two have no facebook or social media with pics of your furniture or place where you live in the background posted on the web?

Then there are stalkers who will go to all kind of lengths & hack your computer & get all your real info. Happens to me all the time & others.

Think about it long & hard. Cause your biggest fears of being found out can & more than likely be found out. Plus, one of you will not be able to resist bragging to a friend about it. Then that friend will tell another & so on. What if your Dad logs onto a cam site & recognizes you?

If you are going to do it, then you have to own it.

    Sam

Sam, I've seen you use this statistic before. Is this a real statistic or just your estimation? If it's real, how did someone figure it out? Do you know someone at SM or another site that shared this insider info with you?

Regardless, I believe it's probably true, but my curiosity is killing me.

I think Cam4 could be a good starting place for y'all since masked people do ok there. Not sure how well that would work on Streamate.

I also second what Sam said, you've gotta be totally sure that you want to get into this. It's not easy. And if you're extremely concerned about being found out, this may not be the job for you.

Seen the stats on Gfy from people who own & run large studios. Plus I do know the owners of major cam sites & they all say the same thing.

In general, this is a sales jobs. We for the most part don't get a salary or hourly wage & even in the real world most people can't handle that kind of job. Some people right off the bat are great hustlers & some learn how to and then there are some who never do.

Personally, I have been asked from people on social media site about camming & porn. Majority of them NEVER do it but are just tire kickers. The ones who do rarely spend more than 6 months in the biz.

These cam sites get many applications every single day. Majority of them never even finish filling out the paper work, then those who do think this will be instant big money & find out the hard way that for most of them it isn't. Take into consideration the amount of VERBAL ABUSE we take in free chat on a daily basis. Who can prepare anyone for that kind of crap! This looks like easy money, but it isn't.

Many especially men have unrealistic expectations, they think just shake your tits or ass & watch the money come rolling in. Hence why I can see men aren't allowed to post on camming connection. They have no real concept of how camming works & the sheer amount of beggars, haters, stalkers & demanding assholes we have to deal with to get money out of the customers. One minute a man is love love love, you dont do a free show & it turns into sheer hate & venom.

Females we log onto cam sites to see what is going on & see the girls in the top rooms making bank & think I want to make money like that too. No one ever goes to the bottom of the last page or even the second page & see girls struggling to make money & see how it can be until you learn how to work a site & hustle.

Now, I do feel it is unrealistic to think you can be brand new & put on a mask & make money at this job. Go to any cam site, look at the first page, how many performers have on mask? Here is a couple asking for advice without doing any major reading on this site or going to the sites themselves to see what is working on those sites.

Many newbies may think my advice is harsh, but I think they come in with many unrealistic expectations & I am trying to spare them the pain & hurt. For them to think this through cause camming or porn can effect all future incomes & job potential in the future. Once you are in, even for a day can affect you for the rest of your life. Is it fair? no

I feel this is a job you have to KNOW you want. A job that you put it all on the line for & know you can make it. That the risk are well worth it for you in your life. So when I see post like this one wanting to do it & yet no one ever find out about it is the most unrealistic expectation of all. We all have had to deal with the negative consequences & to think that they won't yet reap the rewards is insulting to the rest of us that have.

    Smooches,
    Sam

Thank you for ending the mystery for me! I assumed you got the info from someone in the know (cause typically *you* are someone in the know). I just get curious about stuff like this.

Also something I didn't know. This is my first "sales job," so I haven't heard a lot of sales statistics. I always thought I would be terrible at sales, but it turns out, I just have to believe in the product.
