Default Plastic surgery? (Weight loss/nervous/bad credit.. Oh my!)

Hey ladies, I could really use some help and advice. As some of you know I've been losing weight steadily over the last two years. I've already lost 70+ lbs and still have at least another 50 to go. I've been following lots of other people on tumblr who have been through a similar weight loss experience and I'm nervous as fuck as to what it's going to do to my body. There is a possibility I'll need a tummy tuck, but I'm almost certain I'll need a breast augmentation to lift everything up nicely. My dream would be to do the tummy tuck, breast lift, augmentation and then add implants.

My main issue is that I have shitttttttttttttt credit. There is a chance I could get my parents to co sign while I save up as much money as I need (I don't even how much I should even start saving!) but are there any other options? I don't want to lose weight only to have my body look like a train wreck.

Haaaalp? (Melonie, I would really really love your advice too!! ^____^ )

Look for a doctor, then go in for a consultation so you'll have an idea how much it will cost. You may not need a co signer if you can manage to save the money yourself.

A lot of doctors do free consultations, so you can get the price there. Prices may change since it doesn't seem like you're going for surgery right away, but the cost shouldn't differ THAT greatly from now until you book the surgery. You will at least have a ballpark. You can also plan surgery based on when a doctor might have "specials". I think some doctors give discounts during certain times of the year that are not popular for cosmetic surgery (like in the summer time).

If you save the money then they won't care what your credit is. I paid for my implants with cash because my credit wasn't great back then, but my rent + bills were less than 500/mo so I had saved tons. Funny now because my credit is good but I am broke.

If I had to guess, you probably want to aim for about 10,000. I think that's about the cost for a "mommy makeover" which might be similar to what you'd be getting after weight loss. The east coast where I am tends to be more expensive than the midwest though. Just my implants cost 6,000 with no lift . I went to an expensive doctor who operates in a hospital though because I didn't want to have surgery in their office.

^^^ I'd agree with a rough $10-15,000 ball park for breast implants + lift, plus tummy tuck, during the same surgery.

As far as credit goes, from the viewpoint of the lender ...

    - unlike a house or car, with cosmetic surgery there's no way for the lender to 'repossess' breast implants or a tummy tuck if you don't pay on time !!! Thus credit extended for cosmetic surgery is categorized about the same as a credit card i.e. 'unsecured' / high risk.

    - the lender is going to need to see a documented income history for at least the past 2 years ... which shows that your income is sufficient to cover the monthly cosmetic surgery loan payments, in addition to payments already due on any other debts you may have, in addition to 'normal' costs of living.

    - the lender is going to want to see a LARGE cash payment made on your part ... probably 50% of the total cost of the procedures ... as a token of your 'commitment'

    - the lender is going to need to see a credit rating that's at least in the 'fair' ( ? above 620 ? ) range to even consider approving such a loan. This is based on the assumption that, if your credit rating is already in the 'basement', you have very little additional to lose by spending the lender's money and then not making payments / declaring bankruptcy.

    - getting a co-signer would probably help immensely. Legally speaking, co-signers are responsible for repayment ... co-signers will have their own credit 'ruined' if your loan payments aren't made on time ... co-signers have 'assets' which the lender can attempt to seize to satisfy an unpaid loan, etc.
