    Default Celebrity Meet and Greet

Soo yesterday I went to a celebrity meet and greet. I had to buy products and then got a signed card from my favourite celebrity.

I was so star struck it was ridiculous - I was like 'thank you for having me' and shook her hand (I wanted to see her manicure).

Lol I never realised what a groupie I am!!!

Anyone else ever experience meeting anyone famous?

    xx

I've met quite a few living in LA for 24 years but the coolest was meeting one of the actresses from Mad Men... she didn't even have a huge role but I was the costume designer's assistant for a theatre internship I did so I got to work with her every night and that made it more fun I freaked her out in the beginning because I kept staring at her!

    Tempest wins this thread!

Okay these are the people I have met:

Styx: Not a big fan of them but they live around me (or did)and I attended school with the daughter of one of them. Down to earth but then again not a fan.

Duran Duran: Cool to me, but later heard rumors several (not all)of the members were nasty to the fatter people.

Isaac Hayes: Came to speak to a class in college and very cool and nice. My amazing college professor had fantastic connections being a top DJ in Chicago.

Al Kooper: Not Alice Cooper but the original singer of Blood Sweat and Tears. Wrote many songs or played instruments on them. One of the songs he played on was Like A Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan. Speaking of Alice Cooper never met him but this lady I modeled for did when he played golf with her and her husband and she didn't know who he was.

The Buckinghams: Local band that was popular in the 1960's. Spoke to them for quite a long time.

Jenny Jones: Talk show host. Very tiny and even in heels I was still 4-5 inches taller.

Bill Maher: He performed at the grad school I was attending and I got to chat with him and got his autograph.

Jon Wellner: He stars on CSI but I attended college with him.

Ron Jeremy: Great guy though he did ask me if I wanted to do porn (I declined)

Al Lewis: Grandpa on the Munsters. He was cool.

The Dells: Most of you have no idea who they are but they were a big doo wop group in the 50's and 60's and are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Anyway my parents attended school with them and we all got invited to the birthday of one of them.

Various local DJs that most wouldn't know of but I don't consider them celebrities. I have met various other musicians when I worked in radio but names escapes me now. Mostly country acts as that is where I worked, country radio.

I didn't meet them but I know people who have met John Travolta, Johnny Depp and Tom Hanks. All pleasant experiences and they showed me the photos. My dad met Walter Payton and really liked him. He was a class act and owned part of my dad's former employer.

^ I remember when Jenny Jones had her show in Chicago. One of the girls I dances with at vip was on it dancing with other girls in the background of one episode and a DJ I dated in M.B was the focus of one show. Lol. Where was this amberlilly? I've danced for a few. Howard Stern, Dennis Rodman and Carmen electra,. While working I've seen in the club, Keifer Sutherland, Charlie, sheen, Mathew Perry a lot more working at scores NY in the hey day. I can't remember. Bill maher always comes in the vip member room at a club I work in Denver. He's an ass to white girls( he only likes black girls). I've also danced for tons of baseball players ( since a ton of teams train were I live) and footballers( that's soccer to you US girls.

OMG what is it about famous people? they always look prettier in real life and soo much cooler.

I got told by a client that the best way to be around famous people is really relaxed and treat them like you have known them forever.

I would love to meet Liz Hurley! I also met a couple of well known football teams when I have stayed at hotels. Too bad I'm not into sport
Some are more down to Earth than others. I'm sure Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian get stores shut down for them (I met Nicole Richie at a club once and she was actually really sweet though) but I saw Meryl Steep shopping at CVS once and she was just walking around like she was the same as everyone else. I can't stand those celebrities that act like they're above everyone else, a friend of mine met Alec Baldwin and said he acted like she was asking him to let her shit on his shoes when she asked for an autograph. I mean, if you're having lunch with your family and someone is pestering your for an autograph, that's one thing-- my brother went up to Kobe Bryant once when we were having dinner at Benihanas and it did not go over well, understandably-- but you should be appreciative of your fans, without them you're nothing! And it is really exciting for people when they meet someone they see on TV all the time and idolize.

My dad has the best stories of meeting celebs though, he's met all the classics like Carey Grant, Paul Newman, Ronald Reagan, etc. I would have loved to of met some of those!

Her show was weird if I recall. Oddly I was once asked to go on the Springer show but never met him, just his producers. I heard that about Maher but I wasn't meeting him as a dancer but a fan buying his book so that makes a difference I'm sure.

danced for a few reality TV stars in RI, in particular the winner of ink master..he was ok, didn't tip worth shit though.
also, the former drummer for puddle of mudd is a regular at my club, but he neither buys dances, nor tips on stage.

In London you see celebrities walking down the street all the time. I normally don't even realise until the person I'm with points it out!
I saw Brian May at American Psycho the Musical recently, which was cool, he was just hanging around at the bar during the intermission and no one seemed to realise who he was!

I met Jack Black and Kyle Gass at a Tenacious D gig and I hung out with the comedian Tom Stade after his show once, but normally if I see a celebrity in the street or something I don't approach them. Partly because I don't want to bother them while they're out shopping or whatever, but mostly because I don't realise who they are until I've walked past them!

The worst is when I smile and say hi because they look familiar and I assume I know them! Ive done that more than once and I felt really stupid afterwards!

Between my grandfather being a "somebody", working in high-end custom audio shops, and then living in Las Vegas - I've met a LOT of celebrities. Including some that are like, beyond moviestar status. You think rock stars are divas - meet some big name politicians. Most of them are really awful people, lol.

Some standouts (and avoiding the political figures and grandpa, lol)...

Robert Downy Jr. - cool as hell. I'd like to meet him now that he's even bigger and clean; I met him in his young coked-out years. And that man could do enough cocaine in one line to kill a lesser mortal, lmao.

Sarah Brightman - a horrible human being who treated everyone around her like complete shit. I've heard other stories about her being super sweet, but she came to a store I worked at in Seattle and OMG - total mega-bitch.

George Carlin - one of the nicest people I've ever met. RIP.

Coolio - really cool dude. A lot smaller in person than you'd think. He came to a store I worked at, and years later we got to be friends with his wife (still are).

Mike Tyson - In all my dealings with this man, I've never seen the "bad side" of Mike that the tabloids always portray. He is one of the nicest, most genuine people I've ever met, celebrity or not. I've met him several times and had many interactions with him.

Eddy Vedder - kind of a prick, but not as bad as lots of others.

Joe Theisman - really, really nice guy.

Celine Dion - worse than Sarah Brightman. A terrible person.

Several NBA players. Most of them were really cool. Mostly Utah Jazz players, some others too. A few other NFL players besides Joe, all very positive experiences. I was really sad when Broderick Thomas died; he was a regular customer of mine and a REALLY nice guy. I talked to him less than 48 hours before he was killed in a motorcycle accident. A few MLB players including Griffey Jr in his heyday - great guy.

Lots more but I'm brain farting, lol.

Haha its soo weird!! It does feel like you know them. I mean their lives are splashed all over the newstands and we watch their movies.

I have also met Samantha Harris she is a famous australian model. I have met her a few times - she is only nice when she is paid to be. She refused to say hi to fans in the intermission of one of her shows..she just ignored everyone and kept walking...She was being paid to be there!!!

I appreciate why celebrity could be frustrating but I agree - your fans are your customer base. If we all drop you, so will the sponsorship deals etc. I guess people lose touch with that.

I have to come to London! The shopping sounds amazing - celebrity watching would be a bonus.

Is Coolio married? On Celebrity Wife Swap, he was living with his girlfriend and her children, and supposedly she left him afterwards.

Since I work on the production side of the live events industry the list of people I've met is pretty long when it comes to entertainers, politicians, athletes, authors, actors and just about anyone else that will get up in front of a room full of people to speak or entertain. Since I'm working when I encounter these folks it's rare that I get a chance to enter the "fan" zone with them. I usually have to do my job and interact with them on a professional level.

Lots of celebs are less outgoing than you would imagine when they are not "on" in front of an audience. I've learned not to judge anyone by the way they look or act when they've been dragged off a tour bus or out of their hotel room too early in the morning after perhaps traveling all night to get to wherever it is that they are appearing that day. I can't remember anyone that was ever actually rude to me though I've heard plenty of stories over the years when it comes to divas both of the female and male variety.

Two of the absolute coolest I've met have been Bill Clinton and Jay Leno. Clinton was waiting backstage to speak at an event I was working and, during his down time, managed to make his way around the entire backstage area to greet and shake hands with every single member of the crew-probably 30 or 40 people. Whether you agree with his politics or not you ALWAYS know when Bill Clinton is in a room. He projects an aura that any politician would give their left nut to posses but at the same time can stand beside you and crack a joke about himself or the situation. Jay Leno is just a funny cool guy. I actually like hime better after working with him a few times as you get to see a relaxed side of him. He's also much funnier doing live stand up than he ever was on the tonight show. Yeah, he still tells O.J. jokes in his act but they still get laughs!

^ I love Clinton! My fav president. I don't care if he was getting B.J in the white house look at the Kennedys. I happened to make more money when he was in office than any other president. Sorry if this crosses a political policy. Lol.

Michelle, agreed. The economy was fantastic then and much easier to make money dancing. I was disgusted he signed NAFTA though but otherwise I thought he was great and didn't care he got a blow job. In fact I have a story about one of those "family values" politicians who would come into a club I was working at and be a jerk.
