Mind Blowing dealing with menopause when you are a cam model

I've broken down an told some of my close friends...I am menopausal. Not peri-menopausal...full on going through the change. I thought I might have about 5 more years..but I am about the age when my mom went through this. It happens and I'm trying to have a sense of humor about it.
I had a major hot flash while I was out with some friends...we were dancing. I ran into the restroom...admitted to a women in there with me that I had a hot flash on the dance floor--the hand dryer was making the restroom MORE hot. She was like...yes...started for me 2 years ago...and she was 2 years older than me. She looked great BTW.
One of my friends is almost a decade older than me and she had said I might have to deal with full blown psychosis. Oh Joy...
Now that I'm not in denial...I am using several different remedies to alleviate my symptoms. The worst was anxiety and severe depression. I've only been on my new regime of holistic/herbal and some progesterone cream for half a week and I am feeling much better.
My sex drive disappeared as well...big bummer. I am hoping in the next few weeks it will return...I do feel some tingly sensations and nice horny thoughts again. I had also gotten some kind of libido spray at the Vitamin Shoppe when I was searching in the women's section.
I cannot change the fact I am going through "the change" I kind of thought it was happening over this past year, but I did not have the hot flashes or mood swings or the lack of desire for sex until a few months ago. It hit me really hard, but hopefully I have the symptoms under control.
Any other of you ladies been through this while you are webcamming??
I really need my sex drive back...it's kind of important for being a cam model.
I have seen some older women, say in their 50s who are cam models...and they are still sensual and have regulars--that gives me hope.
Has anyone else on SW been through this and how did you get your libido back?
Did anyone have severe anxiety and mood swings?
I have not tried the libido spray yet--I will. I have been able to just have fun on my own with some of my toys this past week--that's a good sign. Unbelievable that I had lost interest in sex, but I did. I think I can get back on track--just wondering if any other cam models on here have some tips or even just some funny stories.

I feel better sexually now then I ever have in my life to be honest. I think with age comes a comfort. I went thru 10 yrs of vulvadynia so after after that anything without pain is a good day sexually. I have occasional hot flashes on cam...I just play it up. The guys that like older women are fine with that.. I just make it more sensual when I am having one. As far as dryness ... Just lots of lube

Oh your timing! I just had to take three days off due to peri-menopausal symptoms, I described them to my sister, a nurse, who said it was too much information so I suppose its best not to go there here. Hel yeah, I had to take a god weekend off due to it, if you want to share gory details hit me up on pm. My horror stories can be bloody lol.

Thank you..yes lube is my new best friend. This is all new to me..and I just need to have a sense of humor about it.
One of my friends last month was telling me how she went through it at the age of 38, no transition at all, she had a hysterectomy. Like she immediately started getting symptoms and the mood swings.
I looked up vulvadynia...yes I think that started a few years ago.
Even watching porn does not turn me on lately...which is really bizarre for me. I'll just keep positive, and like I said have a sense of humor about it. I was trying to laugh about my 3am hot flashes with a friend--was telling her "This is awful--waking up in a pool of sweat, my A/C is already on and I can't get back to sleep"
I do feel better--after I started a holistic and progesterone cream regime--I just started so I think in a few more weeks I'll be back to normal. thx!! just wanted to hear some other advice on it--time marches on I guess LOL

I just started having hot flashes recently. Although I have suffered with night sweats for about 15 years. lol that is finally slowing down.. (got tired of changing sheets every day or during the middle of the night. Btw.. I am 50.
For the vulvadynia I had to give up chocolate and other high oxylate foods, a few creams, and pelvic floor muscle physical therapy.

Ahh, yes .. menopause. I am in menopause, and have been for over 3 years.
Before that it was peri-menopausal for 10 years, leading up to menopause. (that was actually worse, because my panic attacks and anxiety, along with still having my period, were unbearable. ) Not to mention the start of hot flashes, and night sweats, combined with cramps, migraines, mood swings, lack of sex drive, fatigue, etc.

I like to try and do everything holistically first, but my symptoms became too bad for most of the remedies to help.
I do like the progesterone creams, however, and find that they offer some relief.

A friend of mine who is much older, turned me on to rubbing testosterone cream directly on my vagina. Wow!! I absolutely love it!!

I got a prescription for the 'male' testosterone gel, (Androgel), and when I used it, felt relief right away.
I had so much energy, and was able to get aroused easily. My mood was happy all the time.
My panic attacks, and night sweats disappeared, as well. I didn't have any muscle or joint pain.
My skin became radiant, and my hair grew faster. I was strong enough to lift a car, single handedly, if need be. I could cam for hours, without becoming exhausted.
The only drawback was I got more headaches, due to that being one of the side effects.(But it was worth the price).

The price of the gel became too much for me to handle- It's close to $500 for a month's supply.

I can't wait to make enough money, so I can re-order some more. ( P.S. I have seen ads for lawsuits regarding adverse reactions of Androgel), but I don't care. what I felt was worth it.

My mood swings are back, aches and pains, fatigue, hot flashes, etc.
What I hate most about menopause is the lack of interest in sex, or even going out anywhere, or even making plans in advance due to never knowing how I'm going to feel, to the fatigue, and general feeling of not caring about being out, or having to deal with people.
I really miss being vibrant, and social, most everyday, but, alas, it is what it is, until I can get to a Dr. again to find the right hormone replacement therapy.
As far as camming is concerned, it just makes it that more difficult to be sexy, and not come across as someone that just wants to log off and go take a nap, or watch a movie. I'm bored most of the time, and life's excitement seems elusive to me.

    I take a natural supplement.
    http://www.amazon.com/Promensil-Post...ords=promensil

It helps my hot flashes and night sweats but I still deal with dryness. I want to find a good lube that doesn't dry out so quickly. Coconut oil breaks me out and of course silicone lube doesn't go with silicone toys.

As for arousal, my vibrators always get me going.

^^ Oh Yeah, I almost forgot about the weight gain. I went from always being a size 4, then 8, to now being over a size 12-14!
With menopause, could eat 'lettuce' all day, but it doesn't matter--- the weight still comes on.

And the hair loss... aargghh! I have always had thick hair, but sadly, my hair has been thinning the last few yet. Nobody can detect it, but me, but (because I had thick, waist length hair) my entire life, I notice it.

I do believe there is a light at the end of this long tunnel, because I used to live in a senior citizen community in Palm Springs area, (the average age was 70, and up),
and I asked the elders lots of questions regarding this subject.

They all said that menopause was just a distant memory, and all of those pesky symptoms had gone away.
They were active, and led busy lifestyles. (Of course they were all very wealthy, so I can bet that had something to do with it.) At my age, I really think being broke most of the time has something to do with my condition, because of all the work I must do to just stay afloat.

Thank you ladies...for the advice!! This is all still new...I am 44 and just thought I had a few more years to go. I think my mom went through it at about 45 or 46.
I am lucky to still be thin, it runs in our family and I lost about 15-20 pounds of extra weight about 4 years ago. I know my metabolism will slow down even more--I've been exercising on a regular basis for about 4 years as well. I try to do something almost every day, even if its about 15 or 20 minutes. My muscle tone is pretty good--better than when in my 30s--I did not exercise as much and I weighed more than I do now.
I am bummed about my lack of interest in sex--but I'm sure I can maybe turn it around with my remedies. I really only want to do holistic as well--I tried the progesterone cream and I think it has made a big difference.
I think I have a lack of interest in almost everything too--like going out, talking to people, shopping, etc.
It does feel a little like depression. I was having the panic attacks starting about 2 months ago...and constant anxiety, like every single day. Taking the remedies has helped greatly for that. I could not take the panic attacks--and I think they are under control.
It's not the end of the world--I'll get through this, like so many women have.
    thank u

My hair had begun thinning out in my late 30s. My aunt had recommended I take vitamin D supplements. My hair seems a bit fuller and vitamin D strengthens your immune system. I take about 1000-2000 I.U. daily. My hair definitely got a little more volume, its not as full as when I was a teenager or in my 20s, but it has helped. The year that I started taking Vitamin D, I did not even catch a cold. I have since gotten the flu (twice this past year-yuck!) but I have heard it really boosts the immune system--before that I was getting a cold almost every 2-3 months. The 2 separate flu bugs I think were the swine flu-seriously--that made a comeback this past year. If I had the extra money right now I would try some other hair supplements like biotin. The vitamin D helped with the thinning hair.

My gyn prescribed methyltestosterone topically. It was made in a compounding pharmacy he trusted and covered by insurance. Sounds like my cost for it was way cheaper than androgel.

I have found my people!!! Great thread. So far I am doing nothing about my symptoms. I am trying to change my diet for the better. Since my mid thirties I got bad sporadic anxiety. After 38 I LOST my sex drive. I took myself off the pill hoping that would fix that problem. ( it hasn't) I would use lube, but not a fan of the sloppy mess or of putting lube in my mouth. Coconut sounds great, but sounds like a greasy mess. I don't need that all over my sheet, clothes, computer, camera and phone. I'm not even sure it's just boredom and familiarity with my partner. It could also be just plain old depression or both.
As far as camming I have a great relationship with my vibrator. I have real orgasms. But sometimes I cam all day and just don't want to cum. So I fake it. Sometimes it's all week. The week before my period I could care less, and get really bad pms. Guess when my partner is trying to fuck me the most? DUH. I even chart myself and told him what to look out for. Men are so clueless sometimes even if you point it out.

^^ Oh, I forgot to mention that. I'm never horny, but when I realize that I have not had an orgasm in a few days, I remember to pull out my Hitachi, and have a great orgasm quickly. I am in love with my Hitachi! In over 20 years, it has never let me down!
Just a side note. I notice that when I am out of town on any sort of vacation, I'm constantly horny. I guess it's because my body is really relaxed, and everyday pressures are gone.
Sadly, I haven't had a vacay in over 6 years.

^ No, of course not! lol! I was introduced to the Hitachi by my best friend over 20 years ago. I've worn out more Hitachis than I would like to admit though. I've probably owned enough to buy stock in the companies that make them! He He!

LOL okay. I thought maybe they just don't make 'em like they used to . I have had the same one for about 10 years but I never used it much until a few months ago because it irritated me. I tried again and now I like it. I think I was using too much pressure before.

Well ladies, check out The Natural Remedy Book for Women, by Diane Stein..great section on menopause, & other ailments too.
It recommends Dong Quai, Chinese herb 'female' ginseng, or Black Cohosh herb.
I know that Dong Quai is great for period problems.

When I was at the Vitamin Shoppe, I got the supplement Estroven--remembered it because the commercials are funny. I got another Vitamin Shoppe brand supplement which is PhytoEstogen Complex. So far I have just been using the Estroven--I don't think doubling up will help LOL. I could have worse mood swings or grow a mustache or something even stranger than the symptoms I was having. I have the progesterone cream too--and have been using as directed.
Have been taking the black cohosh for a few years, I used to use it to induce my period when I would get irregular--I was trying just that when my symptoms first hit, and the dong quai. My symptoms only eased after my trip to the vitamin shoppe, I think the progesterone cream is really helping the most now.

The sales person recommended the supplement DHEA I got it. the warning label recommended NOT taking more than the daily recommendation-the side affects were increased levels of estrogen, acne, hair growth and aggressive behavior--oh no!! I have been taking that maybe not daily but every other day.
He had also said I should take a multi-vitamin...which I hardly ever. This guy at the Vitamin Shoppe has been there for years and is always very knowledgeable. I was embarrassed to tell him, wanted the female sales person, but he was very cool about it...and said I didn't look my age (yaaay) he was saying vitamin b-12 would help too. might help with the forgetfulness I've had since my symptoms went into full swing a few months ago. Got some primrose oil too, I've never really had bad PMS, he said it would help with the hormonal fluctuations.

My anxiety has eased...that was the worst I have had severe anxiety in a few years. I've gotten a lot of great remedies for anxiety at the Vitamin Shoppe as well, not too expensive either.
I feel like my sex drive is trying to make a comeback--good!! Not full on horny, but I got some tingly excitement last night.
Hate the dryness, really is something new for me, I'll remember to keep my lube around. I never really needed lube before, but I have my classic Astroglide and some other good ones.
I'm still going to be the fun loving woman I was before this started, I'm determined. I'm still very immature some days...so no worries there. LOL

I went for test after test, they all came back fine... but I was not fine. I still get periods, but damn are they heavy!
I went for a saliva test finally 4 times.
I have been taking Bioidentical Progesterone for years now (transdermal)! Hair is back thick, and growing, no sore breasts and... I actually get wet naturally!!!

I am sold. We women have too much Testosterone. It's all over the environment.
