    Rebecca, Daphne du Maurier

I read these recently and was unable to put down any of them.

The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. I read the entire 500-page novel in two days because I just could NOT put it down. Her writing is beautiful. Fair warning, it left me feeling pretty shitty and hopeless about the state of the world, but ehh, a lot of good books make you feel that way I guess.

My kid has me hooked on The Maze Runner series. We've been fighting over the second book, lol, I should have just bought two of them.

I also read Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just a word of warning though, the cover glows in the dark and it looks like a ghostly face. Scared the crap out of me one night.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
It was recommended by a friend and I loved it. I read it in a few hours (I'm a fast reader though) as I couldn't put I down. Beautifully written.

I tried but couldn't really get into it after the first book. Enjoyed the first one though.

I'm currently reading Tipping The Velvet which is pretty decent if you like Victorian London crossdressing lesbians. Good Omens is always a favorite as is Lamb by Christopher Moore (or any of his stories really). You Suck is a fun quick read and has a few other books that follow it.

"Good Omens" is one of my all time favorites! Almost anything by Neil Gaiman is good.

I'm looking for a good read, just wondering if anybody can recommend something. The Silver Dream by Neil Gaiman, Michael Reaves and Mallory Reaves looks interesting.

I'm on the just released third book of the 'All Souls Trilogy', 'The Book of Life'. I highly recommend the entire series, which begins with 'A Discovery of Witches'. The central character is a recently graduated Historian who discovers that the New England witchcraft supposedly linked to her family's past is more than mere 'legend'.

I read "Brought to Bed: Childbearing in America" a few days ago...but it's for a class (American History, part 2). It's very good, though.

I am also reading articles and books about contralto singers: after years of feeling ashamed about my super low voice, I finally learned to use it correctly.

The last book I read was Stephen King's Mr. Mercedes. Loved it finished it in three days.
Next to last book was. Robert Galbraith's(aka JK Rowling) The Silkworm. Again loved it. The first book in that series "The Cuckoo's Calling" was also pretty awesome, but you can just to the second book without being lost.

I have the opposite problem, I have a very high voice and to work in radio I had to deepen it. I sing at church and struggle with the low notes because my singing voice is at the highest part of the scale (1st soprano). I think low female husky voices could be very attractive to men.

I have been reading so much not sure I could list just one book. I read a lot of different kinds of books. I just finished the Goldfinch which was good but very big.

    I've read these books recently;

The Accidental Alchemist by Gigi Pandian; It's cute and I really liked the female protagonist.

Star Wars: Darth Plagueis (2012), by James Luceno; I really liked this one.

Heir to the Empire (1991), by Timothy Zahn; This is the first of the Thrawn trilogy, very good too.

Some recent faves in my iBooks:

St Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, short story collection by Karen Russell. Luxuriously poetic and beautifully written, highly recommend!

The Book of Strange New Things, Michel Faber. Um, it was okay, I didn't feel it as much as his other novels, but still sad and lovely.

Tampa, Alissa Nutting. Scary and gross and awful but moving!

Not a novel but an article, "The Evolutionary Origins of Patriarchy" by Barbara Smuts. Good reading for any feminist who has ever wondered why patriarchy seems ubiquitous.

Prometheus Bound (part II of the Promethean trilogy) by Aeschylus. The beginning of Prometheus' punishment for having brought fire (knowledge) to mankind.
Die Deutsche Hanse: Eine heimliche Supermacht (The Hanseatic League: A secret superpower)by Gisela Graichen and Rolf Hammel-Kiesow. A history of the League and how many corporate and mercantile practices used today were first used by them.
The Great Mutiny by James Dugan. The story of a mutiny involving almost half of the ships in the British Navy in 1797. A good read to that shows no matter the form of government and the march of time, politics never changes.
