Well, that's crappy. I'll confess I rarely read much about the author.

Yeah, I've met him a couple of times, he's a DICK. I do not like him, Sam I Am. And he's a shitty writer to boot, but for Ender's Game. Ender's Game is a good book, I guess everyone can hit it once.

Speaker for the Dead, Ender's Shadow, Shadow of the Hegemon. None of them are any good.

By the way, he also fought tooth and nail to prevent Gay Folks from having the right to Marry. News at 11.

NatalieCentro, as a last thing, Orson Scott Card thinks you should be barefoot and Pregnant. In the kitchen cooking for him.

I do not. I'll cook for YOU. I like cooking.

    (Sorry about the third post)

That does look like he's such a shitty person. Thanks for enlightening me, I had no idea. He was just a name in my e-reader's authors list.

Yeah, he's a colleague of mine. Though I have little time for him. I just think the guy's a fucking PRICK. He's a JERK!

NatalieCentro, you can still like his books, but I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Guy himself. I can't stand him. We almost got into a FIGHT at the Hugos last year. The only thing that stopped me was that he's old, and I can't beat up an old man. But there was a moment where I wanted to. Call it a personal failing.

Thinking about tackling Stephen King's "The Stand." I have the physical, extended, hardcover edition.

    Thing's heavy.

ETA: I really like the short chapter lengths because it makes me want to finish them faster.

Those are good books! While he was alive, I actually met the Author. He was a good dude. At the time, I was at the beginning of my career. But he gave me a few pointers. Nice guy, sorry he's gone.

BTW: the third, Sixth, and seventh books are my favorites. There's 15. But they're all good. Crossroads of Twilight is kinda slow, but there's real shit that happens in it with Mat.

It's great until the ending. King doesn't stick the landing on this one. I don't wanna tell you why because it would be basically spoiling the story for you. Maybe you'll like it better than I did. Maybe after you read it we can have a talk.

BTW, NatalieCentro, the author of the Wheel of Time actually died after Knife of Dreams of Amyloidosis. Brandon Sanderson picked it up from his notes and recordings. Just so you know. The final three books were largely written by someone else. But the actual ending is all Jordan.

What Alice Forgot. Overall it was good, but the ending pissed me off.

I finished The Paris Architect tonight. I thought the author's writing style is a bit lazy but it is a good story. There are some graphic scenes re: WWII, so if anyone is interested, consider yourself warned.

Was thinking of starting because I just watched the three seasons of Mr. Mercedes on Peacock, but not sure I want Stephen King's thoughts in my head before going to sleep, LOL Plus what's up with his mother-son pedophilia?

Yeah, sure. Try Survivor Type, by King. It's about a disgraced amputee Surgeon that gets stranded on an Atoll in the Pacific ocean while smuggling Heroin. He has no FOOD. It's Stephen King, you do the math. First he breaks his foot, then chops it off and eats it, and it goes WAY downhill from there. Nightmare fuel! If memory serves it's in the book called "Skeleton Crew." *shiver*

Gee that's why I don't read King. I acknowledge him as a great author but really, I have quite enough fuel for nightmares. Even Pet Cemetary is not up my alley.

Yep, just started the 13th book. Sanderson has used a lot of Jordan's notes and so far I don't really find it lacking. Maybe I'm just too invested in the story to notice any change in quality. The story lives in my head already, the author just needs to tell me what happens next. It is almost sad to be getting close to the end. Thank you to whoever recommended it here.

"Stalin's War". A new history of W.W. II that shows what an evil genius Stalin was and what useful dupes FDR and Harry Hopkins were. Among the author's major sources are recently declassified American and British files and Soviet archives. For instance, I never knew that among U.S. Lend Lease shipments and transfers to the USSR were uranium, high grade aluminum , heavy water and other essential ingredients for Soviet nuclear bombs !!!
    What were they thinking ?
