Angry Did I handle this wrong? (rich d*ck pulled)

Hey.....so this just happened. I work in Vegas at a few of the most popular clubs but I'd prefer to keep it anonymous for this post. I just almost got FIRED because I walked out 5 minutes into a 30 minute champagne room VIP with a VERY rich client who frequents this particular club.

We were with another man and dancer in a champagne room. I was paid $300 before the dance (the normal price, with no tip). We got into the room and he immediately pulled his penis out and started masturbating. I was super uncomfortable and kept telling him to put it away so I could actually dance on him. He just kept going and kept trying to pull me onto him. The other girl and man were pretty much ignoring us...doing their own dance and if they ever turned around to look they just laughed. I was literally standing there awkwardly in shock. The cocktail waitress even came in with the champagne and saw what he was doing, and just laughed. As she walked out she even said, "Good luck girls" as she laughed.

After we got the champagne and the waitress left.....he got even more aggressive. I couldn't take it anymore and walked out of the room. VIP hosts were immediately called after me and found me in the DR....asking me to GIVE BACK the money. I laughed and said they could fire me but I wasn't giving back the money...I told the manager what happened and they let me go but not after a fight.

What the hell could I have done better in this situation? Please tell me.....and keep in mind the reason I let it go on for even a few minutes was because I was promised a HUGE tip (I'm starting to think he meant the other type of tip lol).

Sadly, nothing. It sounds like you're operating in a club where this is not only acceptable behaviour by a customer, but openly expected by management. As a clean dancer, that puts you at a huge disadvantage since you have no one to turn to when a customer crosses your personal boundaries -- as this guy did. Personally, I would've done the exact same thing you did.

As for your options: you can get with the new normal at your club (and let guys jerk off in the VIP or whatever else your management allows), continue trying to avoid crossing your personal boundaries (potentially at the cost of losing out on prepaid VIPs when you get uncomfortable or losing your job), or cut this club form your roster and focus on cleaner pastures.

If you work at other clubs that suit your money needs, I would not go back to this club. It wasn't anything you did wrong - it's obviously a dirty club where club employees expect and encourage this. Not only will they not protect you or back you up if/when it happens again, but now that they know you're not "down with the program" there, they'll probably try to box you out of VIP sales with good customers in the future. I would just take that money and run to a different club. I'm sorry that happened, and that the club employees are too shitty to do the job they're supposedly being paid for.
Don't try to win over the haters. You are not the Jerk Whisperer.

Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

More of the 'new normal'. And, unfortunately, it seems that more and more club management are realizing that the bulk of club revenues are being generated by 'dirty' dancers. As such, 'clean' dancers are becoming more and more 'expendable'.

As Shanna alludes to, the 'gray area' which previously existed regarding how much a given dancer is willing to provide in the way of 'extras' is more and more a case of 'black or white'. An increasing number of customers expect to receive 'extras'. An increasing number of clubs expect dancers to provide 'extras'. And that situation now often leads to a clear choice having to be made by dancers ... 'get with the program' or get out of the club.

As discussed in other threads, the REAL problem in regard to future direction seems to be this. With the price of 'necessities' like food, energy, and taxes rising, but paychecks remaining stagnant, many club customers have fewer 'discretionary' dollars available to spend on 'non-essential' things like VIP's and private dances. Thus the occasional 'whale' becomes an even more important source of revenue. Along similar lines, clubs that are seeing their cost of doing business, from property taxes to energy costs rise as well are seeing profit margins shrink. Thus the 'handwriting is on the wall' that clubs need to grab revenue wherever they can find it to stay profitable ... which means tacit approval of 'extras', as well as club support for customers who actually have significant money to spend on VIP's and private dances, even if expected 'extras' are part of that deal.

For clubs that must maintain a limited 'roster', this means that in the minds of club management allowing a 'clean' dancer to continue working, versus replacing her with a 'dirty' dancer, means that the club is sacrificing potential revenue from VIP's and private dances that the 'clean' dancer is unable to sell because she won't provide the 'extras' the customer is expecting. And what happened to the OP is an even worse situation, because from the standpoint of club management not only did the 'clean' dancer fail to 'deliver' on that customer's VIP, but the 'clean' dancer also pissed off a customer who is able to spend serious money ... who may decide to start patronizing different clubs thus 'costing' club management permanent lost revenues.

At the moment, in most areas there are still some available options for 'clean' dancers to find work in 'clean' clubs. However, the successful economics of those 'clean' clubs is driven by 'upscale' customers who do have significant 'discretionary' dollars to spend, but have not yet chosen to start 'leveraging' those discretionary dollars for 'extras'. Unfortunately, in overall terms, these sort of 'upscale' customers are a small percentage of the total strip club customer base. Thus, eventually, 'clean' clubs are destined to become a small segment of the overall strip club market. Unfortunately, there will undoubtedly be a large segment of overall dancers who want to work in the comparatively small number of remaining 'clean' clubs. This will create a situation where the upscale 'clean' clubs have the luxury of only hiring 'the best of the best' in the way of 'clean' dancers. Unfortunately, this will also create a situation where lots of 'clean' dancers have no chance of being hired at an upscale 'clean' club, leaving them with a choice to either 'get with the program' at a 'dirty' club or leave the industry.

You did the right thing by not violating your personal boundaries. There is money at clean clubs. I've walked out of 2 champagne rooms because a customers did the same thing but in my city most of the reputable clubs are clean-ish and don't tolerate sex in champagne rooms. But it's true what Melonie said, customers are starting to expect extras. It's not even like the Anna Nicole Smith days where you date your trillionaire regular. It's more like the 150 per hour in a hotel room kind.

i'm really shocked your club allowed this, and the host actually LAUGHED, like its cute or some shit? disgusting. maybe i'm just spoiled at my club? you need to find a new club if you can! because if they allow this, it will absolutely happen again until they get busted ( and possibly you along with them) or you get fired or so burn out that you quit.

I would move to a new club. While I agree with Melonie that customer's pulling their dicks out is the new normal, I don't think that clubs acting that way is. Your club is asking for trouble being that blasé about it, and it sounds like this customer has a lot of pull.

Sort of. I once knew of a guy doing the same, but unlike the people that were around the OP I did the right thing: I reported the guy and the girl in question got fined.

Uh... No, not really the "new normal" at all!! That's NOT normal! Sexual assault is NOT normal!! Why do people on here keep saying it's "normal" for us to be assaulted by men?!?!?!? Women are NOT victims, we set the rules, we make the boundaries and we get to make our goals HOW WE PLEASE! We need to continue to train these men, if the management will not, we need to work elsewhere. I'm lucky enough to work in a club where the management and staff put the GIRLS FIRST, which should be the FIRST priority to dancers, (right beside money and looking good, of course).

Good for you walking out if it made you feel uncomfortable. Make your money. Train these children how to treat women.

Unfortunately, in many places, it is becoming 'the new normal' bc in the minds of many mgrs, a dancer who is not 'w/ the (extras) programme' is a hassle, a liability(as sm mgrs have called me to my face after I responded violently to assaults by customers) & very, very expendable. $$$$ talks & very few of the mgrs I have ever met would consistently turn away/ban/otherwise punish customers who treat the dancers this way since they are the source of the gravy train. Many girls are equally the source of the problem bc they are stupid, lazy or desperate enough to encourage this behaviour from customers.

You ARE very lucky to work in a club where mgrs care abt the well-being of their dancers, & damn lucky if you have nvr had to work in a club where they don't.

That's fucked up babe. If I saw you were struggling and shit, as a soon-to-be cocktail waitress, I would immediately get bouncers and grab you out of there. Fuck that shit. If you don't want the cock, I'll be the block. You should be able to lean on us ladies. Uh-uh, that's bullshit. As a feminist woman, I would back you up all the way sugar.
