Default when a fake tan starts to wear off, what do you do?

I'm not new to fake tans, but I can't remember my neck and upper back ever looking this ugly/splotchy before. I've been trying to even things out by rubbing myself with a hand towel saturated with lotion, but it isn't working well enough. Does anyone have a trick? Or is this just one of these things that has to play itself out?

btw, I've been using this lotion: http://www.amazon.com/Natures-Gate-L.../dp/B003I4BCXE

Try sitting in a bath or a pool for awhile then exfoliating again.

when it starts getting "scaley", i'll jump into a hot shower with plenty of steam and get a loofa or a washcloth, put lots of soap or body wash on, and then gently exfoliate. then when i get out, if i haven't gotten all of it, i'll put a lotion on and gently scrub with a washcloth/fingers again.

You have to exfoliate until it's all gone and start all over again. It sucks.

This is why I prefer gradual self tanners but it'll give me an olive tone, instead of a tan.

Yeah, I hear ya^..I tan somewhat, I do use spf 70 & sit in the sun for short periods of time. I know it's like round robin, constant application, scrubbing, etc. Which's why I've been using occasionally, the Jegens BB Body lotion, it doesn't really give a color, but hides body imperfections like a foundation for the face does. Urban Decay also has one, it's kinda expensive. I tried the mini size one but not sure it is much better than the Jergens.
