    Default extensions and up-dos?

    Hey ladies,

So I'm absolutely sick of my look and I want a change. I love the way the beehive hairstyle looks and I saw a girl rocking it at my old club with garters, hose and a push-up bra and she looked AMAZING (we don't work together anymore though so I can freely rip off her look!). I want to give it a try just to do something new, and I feel like an up-do will help me stand out a bit amongst a sea of long wavy haired strippers.

This is the kind of thing I'm aiming for: (if I could rock it blonde with bangs like Brigitte Bardot I would but bangs are shit on me!)

The thing is my, my natural is WAY too short and un-even at the moment from breakage for me to be able to do anything like this, so I would have to use the hair extensions. I tried doing this years ago when I had sewn-in ones and I think I kind of got it, but I have clip ins now. From the how-to videos I've watched it seems it's really just a shit ton of backcombing and hairspray, but I feel like back-combing my hair extensions is going to totally destroy them, and I don't know how to go about doing that anyway? Would I take them out or do it while they're in my hair?

Do any of your ladies have experience doing up-dos with hair extensions? Any tips? I'm considering just going to my hair salon and asking them to do it for me so I can watch them and just copy them...

Well, is your natural hair long enough to be put into a bun? I once saw a girl in a club doing Cinderella hair (small front pouf, headband, bun) and it looked amazingly cute and sexy. You could achieve bouffant-like fullness with a messy sock bun. It's not the same, but it's similar, and wouldn't risk your extensions.

i've done it before, but i used a lot of the narrower extensions ( like the ones you put in the front of your head, not the super wide ones). that way you can clip them in at angles, so it won't be uncomfortable or have the clips show through. i teased them while they were in my hair, and yeah it probably will knot them and damage them a bit, just don't do it excessively!

No, it's not long enough to put in a bun. It's not even long enough to put into a ponytail, lol. It's horrible how f-ed up my hair is right now, I've just been bleaching it/straightening it/curling it for so many years it's all broken and destroyed. I've stopped bleaching it and just straighten it every few days and have started doing oil treatments on it so I'm hoping it'll start growing!

Thanks for the idea though, that would be an easier style to even with the hair extensions. And I have lots of narrow ones so thanks simone! I was also thinking of getting something like this:

Have any of you girl used something like this? My only worry is that it would fly off onstage since I'm not sure if it clips on as sturdy as my hair extensions do (and those have slipped off twice onstage anyway!)

Me personally, I wouldn't tease them. I do w/my natural hair, & use styling product (if you can use it w/extensions, whatever you use, mouse, gel, etc.) Get one of those bun things to boost it up.

^ good point. you can also achieve a lot of volume if you blow dry your hair upside down after applying a good mousse. then dividing your hair into sections, and crimping it at the scalp and using some hair spray.

Yeah that's a good idea whirliez, with the bun piece and mouse on my own hair I think I'll be able to get enough volume and then I can just wrap the hair extensions around it a bit. I just bought the bun piece I'll let you guys know how it goes!
