Default Bank By Mail: How much of a delay??

So I'm in Indiana for the month (worked indy 500 pm me if you want info about that, it wasn't the best fyi) and I'm nowhere near a bank branch. I need to make a deposit but I'm feeling nervous about mailing a money order. Have any of you ladies done this before and if so how long did it take for your deposit to be credited? My bank is wells fargo. Thanks for the info guys.

I would suggest calling the branch you are mailing the payment to.

Ask them how they prefer to have the payment or deposit mailed. What to include and how the envelope should be addressed (some have departments that if listed on the envelope makes processing faster)

Also ask them how long the deposit will take to become available based on your account and type of deposit.

Most mail takes 3 to 5 days to arrive depending on the distance. Mail time + time available balance

Every situation is different based on these variables. The best guess you will get is from the branch.

I actually do this every three months without any problems in mailing.

    Hope this helps.

I've had problems with this in the past ... and resorted to mailing money orders to my home address for later deposit in person. The problem stems from bank 'cash transaction' and 'suspicious activity' regulations, which my bank interpreted as allowing / requiring them to delay 'crediting' my money order amount to my account until they could first question me about it in person.

I've never actually done it but if Wells is in that system it ought to work

maybe try a smaller amount to check the system

a paypal account tied your bank account would work too, although I would probably set up a separate bank account for paypal as I trust them not so much

Wells doesn't participate in the NYCE program ... which is mostly concentrated in the northeast US plus some MAJOR cities in other parts of the country.

However, Wells does have affiliate ATM's available in about 40 states. See Unfortunately for the OP, there aren't any in Indianapolis ... but there are a couple of dozen in other Indiana cities, with the closest being Rushville about 30 miles away. If you have access to a car, it's probably worth spending an hour every week to make the drive to be able to bank without 'question marks'. Dicking around purchasing money orders and mailing them would probably take almost as long ... as well as prompting 'cash transaction report' questions by post office personnel that could result in IRS attention being drawn to you !

In regard to channeling funds through PayPal, because of their stated policy against 'adult' businesses making use of their services, any monies routed through PayPal by a travelling dancer are potentially subject to seizure / forfeit. Odds are low that PayPal will discover this taking place, but these days you never know.
