Default using work computer to cam?

I cam from my personal lap top which overheats and shuts down frequently. It's a huge nuisance! I also work a normal job and have a home office that my company provided. I have been debating using their computer to cam and deleting the evidence should I ever resign or they take it back. Plus I can put in more cam time and save up for a new personal computer. Does this sound like a bad idea? Feedback appreciated!

as long as you format the computer before returning, as even if you delete things there is always a trace of it in the computer somewhere, where you wouldn't think to look. unless you're a professional at removing things, like me ( :p ) , then it's best to just format it.

By formatting it would that be returning it to factory settings?

it would wipe off the entire windows installation and you'd need the windows CD to put it back on. or return it with no operating system. if you're not going to format it, I wouldn't use it. Because even if it looks like you deleted it, there will be stuff saved in $recycle.bin hidden folders and user data folders and in registry keys and all kinds of places that the average computer user wouldn't think to look. did you know when you empty your recycle bin, it's still on the computer in a hidden folder? if not the actual file, but the file name will be visible.

^Me too. You're just asking for trouble using resources from your vanilla job to cam. You don't know what kind of software they've put on that computer to block sites or track usage. Not to mention, it's all well and good to say you'll erase/format all the evidence, but what if the computer crashes one day? You'd have to go through your company to get it repaired/replaced, and it'd be impossible to cover up your usage at that point.

Even in the best case scenario that there's no tracking software and you wipe the computer when you resign -- how sketchy to bring back a work computer that is completely wiped of everything, including all your work files that they would certainly want. Plus who's to say that you would be able to properly erase any trace of camming on there?

Best just keep things separate and save up for a better camming computer.

I wouldn't do it. How do you know that you aren't connected to their network? They could be watching everything you do on that computer without you even realizing it.

It's actually on my personal network. I work out of the Corp office so I know they are not that advanced, but just don't want any traces of cramming. Thanks for sharing feedback! I'll get a new one for myself soon

At my former vanilla job "we" me and my office mate would brouse the internet all day long on our work computers... Ebay, shopping, etc. I would venture off the beaten path occasionally and we joked that I had a huge file in the IS dept. Well, one day I was off and had called IS about a problem I was having. They chose to come check it out on the day I was off. My office mate said that they clicked something and EVERYTHING I had searched on there came up in a thumbnail. lol we laughed about ti but it could have been bad. Keystrokes, webpages, time online and much more is easily traceable now. My incident was over 10 years ago.

As long as your reformat your computer (reinstall windows) its very easy to do. Just make sure your doing a complete reinstall and not a partial you should be golden.

You'll need a disk in order to reinstall (you can d0wnl0ad or t0rr3nt a copy if you dont have one and put it on a disk to use to reinstall windows) you''ll also need the key from your computer. Just look up "How to find my windows key" I found a program that I installed and it gave me my key instantly. It did give me a virus haha but I was reinstalling windows immediately so it didn't matter (reformatting will remove all viruses).
