Question Going to be a cocktail waitress

This June/July, I'm going to go into two very popular South Florida strip clubs to interview to be a cocktail waitress ans see who picks me first. They are sister clubs located in Oakland Park (should ring a bell for a lot of you lovelies).

How do you girls team up with the waitresses and are you all typically friendly with each other? What tips can any of you give me on providing optimal customer service? What are the main and detailed duties associated with this job?

I've done a crapload of research but I'd rather get some first-hand advice you all.

    Thanks!

Not to be a Negative Nancy but what if they don't hire you? I always figured it would be harder getting a waitressing job especially at a popular club because they don't always need another waitress.

The club I'm at now one of the waitresses is a total bitch but she's extremely fake nice to me on the floor, which is fine with me. The other ones seem genuinely nice though. My last club was a lot smaller and I was more friends with the waitress I always worked with. She would tell me which customers were big spenders and I would tip her really good.

I would assume the duties are the same as any other waitressing job though.

IME, it's reasonably easy to get a waitressing job. There's high turnover and the majority of the girls they hire either wash out within a week or start dancing.

As far as the job goes, you greet customers, take orders, serve drinks and clear dirty glasses. If the club has a kitchen, you serve food. It's really basic. As far as teaming up, it's pretty rare and I've never waitressed in a club that had designated sections or anything like that. Being friendly is great, but waitressing can be even more competitive than dancing because you're competing for pieces of a much smaller pie. There will almost always be one bitch waitress that nobody likes, but she's reliable so management won't fire her. There may also be an asshole bartender too. There's no right way to deal with it, but dont get sucked into the drama. They can often find ways to make your life completely miserable.

Some tips I've picked up is to chat up the custys and flirt a little. Custys also appreciate it if you offer another drink when their current drink is about half empty. By the time you get to the bar, place the order, wait for the bartender to pour it and get back to the table, they're just finishing up. As far as dancers go, be as unobtrusive as possible. Take the order, drop it off and get the money for it as quickly as possible. They're paying a hefty fee to work there and interrupting their sale will not make you any friends.

Thanks lovelies. As far as my getting hired, I called both places and they said they're always looking for more waitresses so just drop by. One manager was particularly more friendly than the other so I'll probably go there. I'm just a bit intimidated because I'm naturally nice with a kind of bitchy edge but even the meanest girls usually love me. So hopefully I'll fit in.

Just a note, take the first day or so to get a feel for the club and how things are done. Also, be really careful about asking customers to buy a drink for the dancer they're sitting with. It can backfire bigtime, if it's at the wrong time in the conversation or it's the wrong customer to ask. Some dancers don't drink at work, which can make things awkward. Ask waitresses what they do, ask a few dancers that are cool what they prefer and realize that whatever you do, there's a chance that it'll make someone mad.

Also, while it's a very social environment, remember that you're there to do a job and don't get caught up in conversation. Make sire to clear tables and greet customers within a couple minutes of sitting down. Try to be on good terms with dancers and help them out, if you can. Dancers can be great tippers and I tip certain waitresses simply because they smile all the time and I appreciate it. If I'm having a great night and they're not, random tips find a way onto their tray, because I've been there and remember what it's like. But, only the waitresses I'm cool with. I ignore the rest and won't even order a drink from them.

Cattiness will happen. Just keep to yourself, keep your eye out for potential drama and you'll be fine. New girls come in regularly, so eventually the drama will find a new target.
