    Default eye brows

so ..what do you guys use for your eyebrows make up wise? i've been combing through the internet but its so convoluted so far! creams, gels, pencils, powders, even combing & stenciling and then filling them in. i have very low, straight eyebrows with no natural arch. so its hard to "trace" the shape because they aren't like regular high arching brows. figured i'd ask you ladies since most of you have had lots of makeup experience and i'm clueless when it comes to eyebrows..and they are such an important part of your face.
i'm also trying to grow them out with castor oil, and biotin pills..thinking of doing latisse too. i love the way full eyebrows look.
so yeah, they kinda look like this now..just really straightevagreen.jpg039969000138693227320632.jpg

Hands down the Anastasia brow wiz from sephora! Loon no more lol.. It really is great. Only thing I don't like is I'm very blonde and the lightest color is still a little darker than I would like. Other than that it's perfection. Looks best when they are freshly waxed/tweezed or whatever you use to groom them.

Yep, a cream pencil but it's extremely thin so the strokes look like hairs. You can be very precise and it looks pretty natural. I do it very slightly in the day time if I'm not wearing much else, and for work I can add more to make them more dramatic.

Welcome to the lame eyebrow club! Mine are little tiny baby girl eyebrows. Think Mary-Kate Olsen, but smaller.

I fix mine with the NYX blonde eyebrow cake. I'm Blake Lively blonde and these are the best colors I've found so far... a lot are too dark or too ochre. It comes with some shitty brush, which I tossed. Instead, I use my tiniest soft eyeshadow brush to shade in the head to the arch, then my tiniest stiffest pinpoint paintbrush to stipple in the arch to the end of the tail. (Sorry, I have no idea what MAC brushes or whatever these correlate to.)

For the tail end, I dip my brush in the brow gel (it's like a clear mascara) before dabbing it in the pigment. You're supposed to use the gel to shape and "set" your brows, but that has never worked for me, so I just use it to set the shadow instead. I find that proper brushes are reeeaaallyy key for brows, way more so than for eyes.

I've tried pencils but they never worked for me. Pencil vs. shadow is kind of like lipstick vs. gloss, you don't know which works better for you until you experiment with both.

Oh and also! A dab of highlighter beneath the arch will help accentuate it.

kanichen's advice is great. I do a similar thing with my pathetically sparse at the ends yet arched brows, although I think it would work well for all brow shapes in club lighting.

Nothing is innately wrong with straight brows. The women whose pictures you posted are beautiful. If you're that insecure about yours maybe a picture would help us advise you?

I use this too. I have her pencil too. I go over them first with the pencil then the kit. But I was feeling underwhelmed with this so I decided to wipe my mascara wand off and lightly brush over with that and LOVED the way they looked.

Yea, my brows aren't great..very thin/sparse (balding, lol) & light..my skin's very light too, so a lot of colors aren't good. I use the Benefit brow/mascara-ish thingie, got a sample freebe from Ulta. Doesn't have great staying power, so I end up using pencil /w it.
I have been also using Essence brand (from Ulta) pencil, & a few random pencils I have, some are meant as liners, but again the color was better so I went w/it. I agree also about highlighting, I do love the Benefit pink chubby pencil for highlighting, High Brow I think it's called. It helps w/the dark circles too.

Sorry if this seems kinda off topic, but since this thread is about brows- any tips for unnatural redheads? I don't just mean dyed red, I mean dyed an unnaturally vibrant shade of red (think Manic Panic Vampire Red, Splat Luscious Raspberries red) over unbleached, moderate brunette hair. I like the unnatural, "look at me!" factor, but I don't want to look blatantly "your eyebrows aren't the right color" fake.

I just got the Too Faced brow envy kit a week ago and it's great. It comes with blonde and brunette powders, setting wax, highlighter, tweezers, eyebrow brush, spooly and even brow stencils! I use the stencils to shape the arch, than use a mix of the two powders to fill in. It was only $40.

oh i definitely don't hate that they are straight, i've just decided to go with it since it seems to be coming back into style and i really can't fight their shape, i've learned to like it..the only thing i don't like is that they are a little sparse at the ends from trying to achieve an arch when i was much younger :/ they don't grow back quite like they used to!

I've heard of a site that caters to redheads, sorry I just can't think of it..I have seen a light light beige @ Sephora, very neutral-ish, Idk if that's what you're looking for..

Depending on how unnaturally red you mean, NYX eyebrow cake powder has a maroon-y red that might work really nicely! Or could you use lip liner? (That's the advice a MUA gave me at Sephora, but it looked too unnatural with my auburn.)

FYI to brow wiz girls if you're filling in a non existent brow the wiz is made for the outlining. And eye shadow and or dip brow is made for filling in other wise you will be blowing through your product extremely quickly and it's an expensive product.

Brush through whole brow with spoolie. I brush the first quarter in. up. The rest up and back.
Don't put any product in the first quarter- half inch of brow.
Have two colors to work with. Your shade and the next color darker.
Outline the tail with pencil/ fill slightly middle brow using light shade on top dark on very bottom.
Use darker shade gel (I use dip brow)or shadow (depending on how dramatic you want) to fill in tail.
    Define edges by using concealer.
    Brush through middle with spoolie.
Set with wax or brow hair gel.

This can be played up or down for intensity of course.

I'm super low-maintenance and just started learning how to do brows. I'm very cautious and minimalist with makeup. For a casual look, I use dark-brown eyeshadow to fill the inner parts of my brows in (lightly!), and I use a brow brush to give them a more orderly look. For a more dramatic, night look, I use a wet, angled brush with the dark-brown eyeshadow to give the edges more definition, slightly extend the ends of my brows outwards, and then fill them in lightly.

thanks guys! i also have another question..have any of you guys used rogaine for your eyebrows? weird question, but i heard they have some weird hormones in there, so i'm not so sure..latisse is proving to be a real pain in acquiring, as you need a doctor's script. i'm kicking myself right now for ever trying to do the whole high arch ala 1997..dammit!

^ WTF. I wonder if it effects men like this? A lot of men use it but I've never heard anything like that. I have areas my eyebrows don't grow back too. I think its from my guy overdoing it.

Are you sure you have to get a prescription for everything like Latisse? They used to sell a bimatoprost product at, like, Sephora… Although for what it's worth, my sister and I both used it; it worked great for her but did nothing for me (but my eyelashes are already fab so idk).

But yeah NO to Rogaine on your brows!

i've heard that women should only use it if they have female alopecia/balding. it can also cause unwanted facial hair in women..yikes. it can also cause some severe skin problems, flaking, dark circles, etc. the people who make it say there have been no studies concluding break down of collagen, but there have only been 2 studies done so far..and looking on all the forums, the skin aging thing has been something that EVERYBODY has been complaining about. idk, maybe old guys who use it get skin aging too but just dont' notice it or care.
i know i'm probably thread jacking myself, but i'm soo glad i learned this before applying it to my face!!

If you're in the States you might want to look into Careprost? You don't need a prescription for it and it's a generic Latisse. You can buy it at All Day Chemist for less than $15!
