I work with this girl in Baltimore and while she is a definite hustler, there's no way in hell she is pulling that kind of money.

I believe it. Scores is all about extras. If she's doing extras which I do believe she is AND she's a hosts fave, AND she's the only red head, she can totally make it but not AFTER taxes. This is def before taxes. She can work 3 days a week and make just $3000 a week and that comes out to 168,000. You get paid there $600 per hour and if the guy tips you on that hour, well you probably already made a G not counting what else you may do that night (that's working clean). Now, if you're dirty and you charge extra for your services, I don't see why you wouldn't walk out with more. Furthermore, living in NYC and working at these clubs is NOT cheap. The house fee there is like $200 so you HAVE to make a lot to make it even worth it. Also, don't forget this is also the club that just got all those girls busted for drugging the customers and running their bills up. They're very lenient there with how much the girls can get tipped. If she's asking for huge tips and getting them, 180 is definitely doable.

its a pretty terribly written story so i wouldnt be surprised if she was asked questions like "whats the most youve ever made?" and she responded with something like "2500" and then they did their own dumb math and turned it into "she said she makes around 180000/year."
in vegas 180k is very attainable for a lot of girls but theyre heavily hooked up by hosts and most do extras or work with hosts to run up the cards. 180k is even attainable for some girls without doing those things. the thing that separates them from this girl is that their lives revolve around working. they live less than 20 min from the club and work 5-6 days/week and every hour that isnt spent at the club is spent working on their appearance or getting in the zone. theres no way someones making this much while commuting via train 4 hrs and actually doing well in school too. i almost fall into the category of girls i just described but the simple extracurricular i have of studying for the gre prevented me from working as much as i would need to make 180k. maybe ill make it if one night someone accidentally writes 50k instead of 5k on a transaction lol.

Agreed that she's going to be seriously raked over by taxes. On a $180,000 gross $150,000 net business income earned in the city of New York, she'd wind up owing ...
- $23,000 in SSI 'self-employment' tax
- $32,300 in federal income tax
- $ 5,350 in NYC income tax
- $ 6,750 in Maryland income tax
I wonder if she set aside this $67,400 worth of tax money out of that $150,000 'net' dancing income ?
Note that this is an effective tax rate of 44.9%. However, I did not factor in tuition tax credits, which will lower her taxes to some degree.

Gotta love the 'reporters' line that she 'figured out a way to strip away the student loans and high tuition'... ;-)

Exactly what I was going to say. $3,500 in a week is not impossible for someone that is offering prostitution services. Escorts can easily make that each week. So doing it in a strip club (even though it doesn't belong there) could bring in that kind of cash very easily. That's just a little over 1k per night, 3 nights per week.
Also, I think a lot of people doing well in any area of sexwork won't reveal their secrets of getting mega clientele & heavy cashflow anymore because other girls will jump on their method really quickly.
I'll believe that when i see it. And i mean that. If she's pulling that kind of cheddar i wanna see that stripper.
But it's likely a non-story.

between tuition and travel deductions she's not paying that much in taxes, but she's also not netting that much either.
But..what I'm saying is she can make a G a night during season in NYC without doing extras. Like I said, if she manages to get an hour per night + a tip OR a few rounds of dances, she's ALREADY there.

^^ I was actually doing the math of making a grand a night even at my own little club...and logically (I know there's other factors, but those aside) it's incredibly easy. It's motivated me to say the least! So, I agree with you. In the on season, she definitely could be making a grand a night. It only takes catching the right customers each shift.

Of course she does. And she did all while giving air dances in the club, right?
I'm glad someone took something positive from this. Yeah, she blew up her income, but she's just like the rest of us. She's still a dancer. Not only that, but she was brave enough to go on TV and talk about something most of us are (at least in some capacity) ashamed of. You go, girl!

I'm not sure why ya'll are saying she's inflating her income, I personally know girls who make around that just by dancing and not even in NYC. It's entirely possible to make $180K a year dancing, just because you don't doesn't mean other people have the same experience.

Wow! $180K a year just working part time? There's some people who don't even make $25K a year working full time.

So, I know this girl personally and she does extras.
Hella extras. Including dealing drugs.
So... Yeah.

180000$ is achievable with just clean dancing. Hard but possible, yeah. Nobody denies that. The reason why we feel skeptical about her earnings is that such kind of money can be made without breaking the law if girl is completely focused at her job and works full-time. This gal commutes to NYC only every other weekend. Hence it looks sketchy.

She'd have to be pulling $1,250 take home every shift. After paying fees. At my club, the fees would be around $500-600 per shift in order to take home that kind of money. She would have to be selling 5-6 hours every shift in VIP to clear $1250. She'd have to do this for 3 shifts a week for 52 weeks a year. She must be one hell of a sales person to earn that kind of income.

Maybe she sent excess cash to her account in the Caymans.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.
Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.
