Default Question about nurses and dancing

    Hi!
i danced briefly about 5 years ago then had a baby and went to nursing school. I just graduated and am pretty sure I have a nursing job starting in August. In the mean time though I am sooooo broke. I have applied for a million waitressing jobs in my smallish southern city but so far, nothing. I keep thinking about dancing and the relative ease of getting hired but I don't want to risk my nursing career for some quick money right now. I am so torn. Does anybody have any opinions or experiences with this? Like I said its a pretty small city with just one club.

There have been numerous threads on the subj of background checks, esp recently. Those may be helpful if part of your worry is related to career advancement.

If you are afraid of being recognised dancing in your own city, commute an hr or two away. I have done the 2hr commute, didn't stick w/ it mainly since it was cheaper to drive home every nite than stay in the motel that was owned by the owner of the club I worked at (& that's kinda skeevy on a few lvls, so driving home was probably safer too!) Also I have danced 10 min away from home & not had it be too much of a problem, & 45+ min away & had it nvr be a problem. I would tell ppl I lived like an hr away in the opposite direction, even when I danced where I lived.

There have also been sm threads (might have to dig for them) abt fears of being recognised & how to deal w/ sm1 you know coming into the club. If you get spotted b4 you can melt away into the shadows(read: bolt to the safety of the dressing room), call them out on being in the club themselves. These are just a few solutions, I am just feeling to lazy to go dig anything up.
