    Default Sudden random anaphylactic allergy

So after work on thursday morning, I was eating some cashews and then my body started having an anaphylactic reaction. I had to walk myself to the doctors and get adereline injection and drugs.

The last year and a half I've developed now 5 anaphalytic allergies, this was the first to food though. Has anyone heard of this occurring?

I was wondering if this now means I should avoid all nuts? I know I need to go get tested for any more allergies but atm its a little difficult.

Now the last few days my whole body is swollen kind of and everything hurts.

I'd normally go to a doctor, but I'm in spain and it's expensive plus their english wasn't good and my spanish is nil!

If anyone could give me any informations that would be most appreciated.

I had a strange reaction similar to yours. My hands and feet were swollen and I had welts. Eventually it was determined out that my dentist had given me an antibiotic that was a penicillin derivative. I always say I'm allergic to penicillin just because my Mom is allergic ( i had never personally had a reaction). I guess the doctor wasn't thinking about what I said and gave me something in the penicillin family. I had finished the pills days before the reaction was full blown, so they were not the first culprit on my mind.

So my point is that your allergies may not be random. It may be something else you are in contact with that is the true culprit . Get a prescription for an epi-pin to carry with you and stay alert. Get back home as soon as you can.

For sure get an epipen, anaphylaxis can kill you. You can also try to eat slower from now on -- if you notice that anything makes your mouth itch or tingle, or if it makes your tongue numb, you'll be able to stop eating immediately and hopefully lessen the severity of the reaction.

^ My BFF has life-threatening food allergies and that's how she stays safe.

What were the other things you reacted to?

I reacted in the last year in a half to four medicines: penicillin, augmenting forte, cephalexin and trimethoprim. I'm quitting my strip trip short and going to uk to get tested because i need to know what the hell is going on and get an epipen. Its really crazy though because in London I randomly got my palm read for the first time and she asked me if i had nut allergies i was like 0.o no, but I'm anaphylaxis to medicines so that must be it! How crazy as a few weeks later this has happened!

I also have two anaphylactic allergies. I'm impressed you were able to walk to the doctor, when it happens to me I don't get the tongue and throat swelling, but the rare form, very low blood pressure. I would get allergy tested ASAP, they are probably all linked. Allergies can get more severe and change as you get older.

OH also, you can scratch test yourself. I am allergic to something which seems to now be in most things. Take a toothpick, or a plastic fork and scratch yourself only enough to slightly break the skin (but not bleed), I usually do it on my forearm. Then take a small bit of the food and rub it into the scratch. Wait 5 minutes. It it swells, or itches, don't eat it.

Yeah i need to get tested asap, I've been putting it off, which of course everyone is telling me is incredibly stupid.

The onset for mine in the past has been almost immediate (about 5 minutes) with face rash, moderate throat swelling, vomiting, itching and burning crotch/underarms hands and feet however doesn't get super super dangerous for about an hour maybe an hour and a half. That's when I am very confused and start passing out and have a super racing heart (I think at the hospital last time my resting heart rate was 190 something 0.o). Of course if it happens next time it could be a quick 5 minute one, which is why I need an epi-pen!

Do you have an epi-pen you carry around?? Atm I'm just carrying many anti-histamines with me.
