    Default World Cup hustling

How is everyone doing with the World Cup going on? We still have a few more weeks of our customers being distracted by soccer/futbol, so I thought we could pool sports hustles here.

I've been using it to my advantage for building rapport, despite being entirely ignorant and uninterested. When I talk to a new customer, I'll ask if he's been watching it. If he says yes, I'll ask if he saw a match from that day and follow it up with, "And did you see that guy do that headbutt?! It was so cool! What team do you like?"

Then I change the subject to the country whose team he likes. Has he traveled there? Is their cuisine delicious? Are they renowned for having lots of sexy ladies? Whatever, just use it as an immediate segue into sexy topics, and move to selling a dance.

It's good for guys who need to "relax" (i.e. don't want to feel pressured to buy) and entitled jerks who need to think the stripper they're giving money to is "unique" (i.e. might actually like him for reasons besides his money... as if).

Who else is working sports into their sales?

Funnily enough, I've been encountering many customers who are super NOT into the World Cup -- which is great, since neither am I! I'll often ask if they're into it in my opening questions, and if they hesitate after I ask, I'll jokingly comment that it's okay if they're not and confess that I don't care about it either. It always gets a laugh and nicely establishes some rapport!

I've had the same experience as shanna, the world cup hasn't generated much interest or increased turnout among the customers at my club. Not sure if that's a regional thing or specific to the kind of clientele we get. We always have customers coming in after local baseball/hockey/football games, but I think the people who are into watching soccer games on tv are just hitting the regular bars.

Aww! You ladies are lucky. At least half the customers in my clubs are Latino, and the World Cup tends to be a big deal for that crowd.

I work in a sports themed club... lots of turnout for big games. I'm not a big sports fan, but for the afternoon matches I've been wearing the colors of the "favored" team. As well when dudes ask me if I know anything about soccer, I say something along the lines of "I'll admit I'm not a huge fan... I actually try to avoid watching it because the players are soo fucking hot, it frustrates me..." -- they've usually been responding with "Well now you know how I feel coming in here!" and we laugh and then get on with it

^ OMG! Is it the newer, sports-themed topless bar? If so, I've been curious to check that place out.

The line about soccer players being too hot is great. Stealing that!

I'm near LA. I thought so! I didn't know there was topless and full liquor here. That's so cool!

I've been having very little luck with the World Cup fans. The ones that come in to watch the games spend their time ignoring the girls, and then leave immediately after the game ends. Then after the more important games, the wannabe "hooligans" come in in large groups and act stupid and spend very little money. Personally, I can't wait until the World Cup is over (I don't care about soccer.)
Love the line about the hot guys, though!

We play the games on the bar tvs, so when they're on and I notice guys watching I work that into my hustle. Otherwise I don't bother. I've picked a team to root for, so generally I just find out who the guys are backing and either enthuse with them about "our" team's chances or shittalk the team they're supporting. I haven't made crazy money or anything, but it has definitely boosted my stage tips!
