    "2281 Computer network technicians"

Moving to another country. It would be a bold move for me.

Unfortunately, this 'prospectus' doesn't state where these additional jobs are located. Granted that a few may be in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver etc. However I suspect that a large number are located in 'Toxic Waste' Alberta, 'Frozen Ass' Saskatchewan etc.

^I would guess that the vast majority of these jobs are indeed located in Alberta/Saskatchewan/Manitoba, as many people are struggling to find work in the above fields in the big cities. I'd wager that many of these shortages are with oil/natural resources companies as well, which many have a moral opposition to working for, hence the need to "import" workers.

^^^ it certainly makes one wonder why those unemployed Canadian engineers, IT professionals, project managers, nurses etc. choose to remain unemployed in Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa etc. rather than relocate to take these available jobs ??? While 'moral opposition' to oil sands, fracking, strip mining, etc. may play a role, it's equally likely that Canada's generous 'employment insurance' payments, 'free' health care etc. also play a role.

If you take a job outside the big cities, you also have to, well, live outside them too, and there is not a heck of a lot going on outside of em -- especially once you get into rural Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and up north, which is there the jobs are. Your expenses are also high (especially if you don't just want to sit around at home when you're not at work), so even though you have a high salary, you don't necessarily come out ahead in the end. I really think the lifestyle change and distance from friends and family is what keeps most people from doing it -- not a big issue for newcomers, but it's still harder to integrate in the rural communities as an outsider.

Unemployment benefits/welfare, parental support, and/or underemployment. Toronto also has a rather large population of dancers and other sex industry workers, so there's that option as well!
