    Default Anyone have slow weeks?

Where you don't make money, I worked 3 days this week and barely broke $100 on a Saturday night. Idk what is going on. Its putting me in a funk and im stuck working till I make my bill money. Anyone had these weeks? How did you get past it and/or stay positive.

It's the nature of the business. Especially since this week was a summer holiday week. You just have to stick it out until it turns around. Try to not let it show on the outside that it's bothering you. Guys really do pick up on desperation. The other night was horrible for me until me and one of the top earners teamed up to do doubles (She barely made anything either). Experiment with different looks/outfits and just have fun with it. Make up fun tipping games, I'll play how many ones can fit under my boobs. I toss out a number and if I get that many or more under there, I keep the money and possibly a dance. It does get better. Once you get back to better times, open a bank account and start depositing AT LEAST 20% of your take home. Then when times like these come, it won't be as bad.

I'm not sure where you are located, but as Aurora points out most of the 'northern' big cities hit a very slow season between the 3rd week of June ( when high schools break for the summer ) and Labor Day. Summer vacations and family activities take customers 'out of town'. The summer high city temperatures prompt customers to head out to their homes in the country immediately after getting out of work. And the July 4th week and the Labor Day weekend are typically the absolute worst.

On the financial side, June utility bills typically start climbing steeply due to air conditioning power consumption. Also, families start pinching pennies to cover the costs of vacations. Also, summer often leads custys to purchase new 'toys' like boats, golf clubs etc., which leaves them short of cash.

yes, more like a slew of slow MONTHS.from new years til april or may its incredibly slow, and then it only picks up a little bit..the only really busy times are fall through christmas. it really depends on location as well..and once i get into a funk, its very hard to get out of it. i'll usually take a few weeks off here and there, only seeing good regulars, so when i come back i feel a bit more refreshed and ready to hustle.

It's slow every summer in my town and then around mid-August to September, it picks up until about late December, then another short slump in January till income tax and then the minute June hits again, it's dead all over again. I'm cutting back on the number of days I work so that I can be at my best when I am up at the club, as well as going to the spa this week on one of my days off and catching up on my reading... I also notice that spending a little bit of time outside helps me feel totes better, I'm guessing due to my usual lack of vitamin D.

Unfortunately, it's not strictly the location. For example, high earning club customers usually exceed their $117,000 social security tax cap some time in the last quarter of the year, which 'temporarily' adds an extra $100+ to their weekly take-home paychecks. But once the new year arrives, social security taxes restart and take-home paychecks shrink again. Similarly, for club customers who operate their own businesses, the estimated tax due dates ( April 15, June 15, Sep 15 and Jan 15 ) force them to 'dig deep' for cash, leaving them with fewer dollars to spend in clubs in the week immediately before and after these dates. And of course, Christmas / year end bonuses get paid in December.

Granted that these 'real world' timing issues aren't a factor for clubs and dancers who don't typically see customers who earn more than $117,000, who don't typically see customers whose 'professsions' tend to pay large year end bonuses etc. And of course clubs whose customer base doesn't depend heavily on 'locals' i.e. summer / winter vacation cities, convention cities, etc. will have entirely different seasonal patterns depending on when the 'visitors' are expected to arrive ( and leave ).

Not wanting to drift off-topic, but beyond the question of seasonality causing dancer earnings to drop during certain times of the year, there is also a very valid question about the overall economy causing club customers to have fewer 'discretionary' dollars available all year long. Unfortunately, it's no secret that gasoline prices have risen substantially, food prices have risen, property tax / rents are rising, insurance premiums are rising, utility bills have risen etc. On the flip side, customer take home paychecks are NOT rising ... and may in fact be falling due to the ongoing loss of high paying full time jobs but gains in lower paying part time jobs, due to increases in state income tax rates, due to rising employer health insurance costs, etc. This produces a result that most customers will cut spending on 'discretionary' items like lap dances, in order to have more dollars available to spend at the gas pump, the grocery store, etc. now needed to buy the same gallons of gas and the same amount of groceries.

^ that's very true, and every year it gets harder and harder to make what i was making..it requires me to really up my hustle, and sometimes go other places that attracts a more wealthy clientele ( only problem with the last one, is that there aren't that many clubs near me like that, and driving hours really cuts into productivity)

Hell yeah I've experienced days in the same week. Last few shifts I barely made money I need to pay bills. So I took a break. Then manager asks "where you been?" I'm like it's challenging to get motivated to go into the club if not a lot of money to be made.

Time like that I take a break, meditate/pray, pamper myself inside and out, and pick up a side hustle

^^^ agreed ... with a good portion of the 'problem' being that only the top 10% of US earners are actually seeing a net increase in income, while the bottom 90% are seeing stagnant incomes plus a proportionately greater 'burden' from rising gasoline prices, rising food prices, rising rents / property taxes etc. As a result, upscale clubs in big cities with a customer base of top 10% earners are doing as well if not better than ever, while suburban / small city clubs that must depend on a 'middle class' customer base are seeing fewer customers and/or remaining customers spending fewer dollars. Unfortunately, this may also mean that top shelf dancers must travel / move to the big cities where the money can still be found, live with reduced dancing earnings for the same effort expended at suburban / small city clubs, or expend even more effort to maintain their earnings potential at suburban / small city clubs.

I would also add that dancer 'desperation' combined with fewer remaining middle class customer 'discretionary' dollars also tends to create a negative 'snowball' effect regarding 'extras'. The middle class customers will tend to think that their remaining 'discretionary' dollars are more valuable than they used to be, and the 'desperate' dancers will tend to think that they must 'deliver' more to those customers in exchange for their dollars. And at the extreme, to persuade middle class customers to use their remaining money to purchase private dances instead of paying rent or utility bills on time, adding 'extras' to those private dances may become part of the equation. This obviously makes matters even worse for 'clean' dancers ... who may increasingly face 'unfair' competition from other dancers who decide to offer 'extras' to grab a bigger share of that shrinking pool of middle class club customer dollars.

Hell yeah, one of the most infuriating parts of the industry. It always seems to coincide with bill week too. Honestly the only solution that works for me is to diversify my income. I am not well suited to full time career dancing though, so through the majority of my dancing career I have had other jobs/ventures going on, and when the club gets shitty I will just not go in for a while and focus on my other "careers" which in addition to giving me a mental break from dancing, makes me feel productive and accomplished and then when I go into dance again I will typically feel more fresh and also relaxed. The last shift I worked was monday night last week, it was complete crap, I made less than $100 after fees, I was getting my period and it was Canada Day so I decided to take the rest of the week off and boom came in today and made $700. That's the second time I've done that this month with the same results (take a break after a string of shitty shifts, come back and make bank). It works pretty well for me. But I have also been in positions where taking that break has not been a possibility...I don't know if that's you now or not. Then I would try and schedule "fun time" once in the middle of the workweek and once at the end to celebrate and motivate myself to work all week.

I definitely agree with having a "shit week fund" I haven't been able to be disciplined/organized enough to pull that off myself yet but I think it would definitely help you feel less stressed and like you don't "have" to go into work when it's terrible.

I feel like my club has been getting slower and slower every shift I work and it's extremely depressing!! I've been thinking of other nearby clubs to work at but I know people who go to them and I don't want to be seen working. I've really been dreading going in because there are so many girls and not enough guys and being bored will make me want to drink more which isn't good either. Oh and of course this is happening when I need money for boobs!

But anyway I haven't worked since two saturdays ago and have to work this friday so I guess I will just read up on the positive posts on here, some hustle hut, think positively, set a low goal, take some time getting ready and feeling pretty and go in. I hope it's just slow for summer and my club won't stay like this!

Yes. Things are absolutely terrible right now and it doesn't look like they are going to get any better. With each week that goes by I am making less and less and to top it all off this is happening at the worst time! I am moving into a new house so I cannot afford to take days off I have to try and earn whatever little money I can. And not to be a Debbie downer but I doubt things will get better till September.

I've found that my earnings mirror my menstrual cycle. About 3-4 days before my period and 2-3 into my period my earnings are so bad as to not be worth bothering going in to work. It could be super busy and everyone else is banking, but I go home broke. The opposite also holds true, that even if the club is dead, if I'm ovulating, I always make a lot.

For better or worse, this is the most important question which doesn't yet have an answer. If the reason that there are fewer club customers and/or that customers are spending less money right now is due to 'seasonal' factors ... going on vacations and paying for vacations, paying for home repairs and improvements during summer construction season, going straight home from work to spend more time with children on summer recess or to simply avoid the heat of the city, then things will get better once the 'season' ends after Labor Day.

On the flip side, if the reason that there are fewer club customers and/or that customers are spending less money right now is due to 'other' factors ... such as rising food and gasoline prices, rising property taxes / rents, rising state income taxes, rising utility bills, rising insurance costs, etc. ... then the previous levels of club customer spending may not come all the way back after Labor Day because the extra costs of these 'other' factors aren't going to suddenly go away when Labor Day arrives.

    Only time will tell.

Shit gets slow. That's the nature of any business. You can't let it get you down, you gotta keep up that positive hustler mentality or you'll lose. Stripping is like selling drugs, you got your days when you make a rack and your days when you make ten bucks. This week has been slow af at my club, I am literally the only girl who has made any money all week and I've made like $600 total since Monday. It's awful this week, but you can't let it get to you. Tomorrow will probably be slow, too, but the weekend will be better and it will gradually pick up. Just don't let it get you down, keep up your mindset! Go over to the LOA thread in Hustle Hut!

Summer is our slow season here, so unfortunately everyday is like pulling teeth to get $$.

It's the nature of the business, so I try not to take it personally (key word is try - sometimes it doesn't bother me and sometimes it does). I also tend to bounce around clubs more during the summer in hopes to make "new girl" $$.

If I had more money, I'd travel to better areas during slow season.

I was thinking of making a rant thread about how awful my club has been doing with foot traffic, so I'm glad I found this one. My club in downtown Detroit does almost nothing for advertising and relies on sporting events (home Tigers, Lions, Red Wings games) to bring in foot traffic. We call ourselves the "Bachelor Party HQ" of Detroit, yet only have one champagne room. Tonight, for example, we brought on roughly 13 or 14 bachelors for stupid fucking hot seats. We didn't even get people in the bar until about 11pm, and even after, it was like pulling teeth to even get just one lap dance. Everybody wants dances for the bachelor only, and it's always just one - maybe two sometimes.
I don't know if it's slow everywhere currently, but omg, my bar in Detroit is just awful right now. One girl said she made $43 last Thursday while another said she made $60 on the same day. Between Friday and last night (Saturday), I didn't even have a $500 weekend. It seemed like I would get off stage and then use the restroom, then I have to go back up for a dumb hot seat, so I never got chances to try to sell dances. Super frustrating!!

^^^ it would appear that your Detroit club caters to a 'losing' demographic ... middle class sports fans and younger guys getting married. The middle class sports guys are already 'in trouble' financially, given the fact that jobs are scarce, paychecks aren't rising, but Tigers tickets have gotten more expensive ... along with Michigan state income and sales taxes, property taxes etc. already being high, plus grocery bills, utility bills, insurance costs etc. also rising. And there are undoubtedly far fewer younger guys in a position to get married, given a terrible local jobs market, high student loan debt, etc.
