I personally like getting paid through Payoneer versus checks. My main reason is because I get paid sooner, on Fridays vs. Mondays via checks. Some of the not so fun parts is that you get charged international fees. Also, no you don't have to go through your bank at all.

It depends. If you choose to pay $30 for the fedex express checks, you might get it sooner but of course, you're loosing out on $30. Regular checks are slower but if you have a bank account you can deposit them without paying. Some people have to pay $3-5 just to cash their checks. The thing with payoneer is that they charge a $4 monthly fee, as well as $5 if you choose your funds to go in instantly. Also, payoneer charges up to 3% when you use the debit card as well as cash back and ATM fees. I've used payoneer for a year and I had up to 5 providers posting and costing me a whopping $50 a week sometimes just to get my money out. $5 for the loading fees, atm, maintenance, cash back, and 3%.

I use Payoneer global transfer, money in my bank every week for a flat $3. Normally on a Tuesday, can be as late as Thursday if there's a bank holiday or something, although my last payment actually went in on the Sunday, 3 days earlier than expected!

How much are the international fees? I don't want to go thru my bank at all. Could I get the money off all at one time without going thru my bank?

I like using payoneer for the global transfer - I do not like the card fees payoneer has for having money sit on the card. I get my money sometime saturday morning upto about wednesday. Plus having the regular bank deposits helps rebuild my credit history and relationship with my bank
in the start of using GBT I was loosing money couldn't figure out why for a few deposits, then I did some digging to discover payonner was sending my money to my account as a wire. so I was losing about $10 or $20 on my deposits, beucause their system some how wasn't making my transfers as deposits they were making them as wires. it got sorted out and I got credited the money but it was just an odd transition phase.
Just keep in mind what says in your email of what you are expecting actually shows up in your account. because depending on exchange rates you could be getting more or less money.

Another really great benefit to payoneer, you never have to feel embarrassed at the bank when you deposit your streamate or adultwork check. Now noone but you knows where you work
SM changed their business name to something generic now just to avoid that issue.

I'm in America, I get paper checks, for me it comes from a Canadian TD bank and it says Adult work and some other name beside it, as in a week and a half ago anyways.
I don't know why but I feel the good people at payoneer are not as judgmental as a check cashier or bank teller might be. So Iam good with only me and their staff knowing.
I don't think there's any benefits to using Payoneer if you aren't doing direct deposit. I've used it in the past when I was on (PJ) Daily Pay. To add to what Kortney said I think there's also a yearly maintenance fee as well. After a while I felt like Payoneer + Daily pay fee's where really adding up so I went back to a regular SM account and checks. It feels good to be able to look at my earnings and know exactly what I'm getting.
I never really had problems with checks in the past, I usually (almost always) get my check on Monday. I've had issues some what recently where I didn't get my check until Friday but I think that was the post office's fault. The only reason I switched to DP was because I became impatient and wanted my money quicker. It took an adjustment but I got use getting checks again.
If and when I travel I do plan on switching to Payoneer DD but for now I don't mind waiting 3 extra days for my check. If you have a bank account I honestly wouldn't use the Payoneer card. If you want your money faster I'd just do the Payoneer DD. The fee's really do add up when you use the card imo.

Mailmen screw up sometimes (I got my neighbor's pills in the mail once!), and paper checks just take too damn long, in my opinion. I don't have a lot of patience when it comes to money.I love Payoneer.

For the direct deposit, they just charge $3 per deposit. No maintenance fees or anything like that that I am aware of.
We may have to go the pragmatic route then...for those on SM and getting the direct deposit through Payoneer, which day of the week does the money hit your bank account? I'm still not sure if I'd trust them with our studio payroll though, but it may be a necessary evil until SM can stop charging $50 for a wire transfer when its just a simple ACH deposit.

That's actually not any faster than receiving a check and then mailing it to the bank...funny. Ok, nevermind.

Well, Tuesdays were the same day I'd get checks and Wells Fargo always took two days to credit my account for me no matter how I deposited the checks so it saved me two days, but I can see how it wouldn't be worth it for a lot people.

I've done both Payoneer and check.
For Payoneer, SM sends the money on Friday, and it gets to your card by Friday afternoon. But, you have to pay Payoneer $2 to load it onto your card (which takes two days -- so it doesn't officially become available until the next Monday); or, you can pay $5 for an immediate load on the same day Friday.
For regular checks, they are sent every Wednesday, and they are in my mailbox the following Monday. And there are no fees.
I was doing Payoneer for the longest, but I prefer checks since there are zero fees.
I used my Payoneer card to buy lip balm at CVS for 1.99. And to get cash back. I went home and looked at my Payoneer funds and they had taken out an additional ~3.25. I don't know if it was because there's a purchase fee or a cash-back fee. Either way, it added up and considering with either option the funds are not available to me until the same Monday, I decided to go with checks.
Hope this made sense lol

I like checks because I hate having to fork over more money than I have to. I also like it because checks are a paper trail and It comes in handy for financial reasons.
That's what I figured out with the card too way back when and using it in combination with Daily Pay (ours or anyone elses) doesn't work out well. There's a lot of sneaky nickel and diming built into their system, some is documented and some isn't. You also lose a lot of opportunity cost with building or repairing your credit/legitimacy by using a payroll card service over a regular direct deposit. If I had kept with Payoneer, we never would have had the credit rating necessary to start this business in the first place, and I can just imagine trying to buy a car or mortgage with no real banking history...along with a 3-5% hidden tax on anything I do.
Now, if they were 100% competent and trustworthy at what they do, it might be a different story, but at those rates they should actually train their people a bit better to handle things. If we can provide nearly instant and competent email support at our tight margins and (relatively) low volume, there is no excuse for a big corporation not to be held to the same standard.

Sorry, just to randomly add to this, I choose Payoneer over cheques because I move somewhat frequently at the moment, and because I tend to rent rooms in shared houses, and mail just vanishes into the ether in big shared houses (5 of us in my current address, 6 at the last one). I would prefer to get paid direct deposit but am not American, and cheques would be better for a paper trail, but right now that's just not a great option for me.
