Default bad chin acne, NOTHING is working

    Hey ladies,

So for the lash three months my chin has been breaking out like CRAZY. I have never had acne problems in my life, just a random pimple here and there, I just hoped that it would clear itself up... but it didn't.

I've started getting regular facials and the woman who does them told me that I was exfoliating too much, but now I have dropped down to exfoliating twice a week and washing with a milk cleanser, toner, and putting on moitsurizer every night. I also went on birth control partly because of escorting but also to help with the acne as she said chin acne is usually a sign of a hormonal problem.

However, it honestly hasn't helped at all and it looks HORRIBLE, I'm so ashamed of it that I've been keeping the lights really low when my clients come in and avoiding early day appointments.

My doctor said that I should go see my GP and ask about being put on something for it, as he says it seems like everytime he sees me it varies so much. I don't have pimples anywhere else, my cheeks, nose, and forehead are totally clean-- it's literally just my chin area.

    Does anyone have an advice?

I would try Witch Hazel and soak your chin few times a night.

My first guess was stress, as my sister had the same thing- embarrassing chin acne she normally never gets, when we were out of town for a funeral. It was incredibly stressful, family, one of them dead, little sleep. But, it is an area with a lot of gmo foods (the northeast US) and when I lived there I always had severe soy allergy outbreaks. So, it could be that too, idk how bad the food is, I'd heard the UK is stricter on gmo foods and whatnot.

I'd avoid soy and take some yoga classes.

When did you start the birth control? Was it before or after the breakouts? Even if the breakouts started before the birth control, the birth control could be making it last longer (birth control can make acne wayyy worse before it gets better, kind of like most acne treatments). It honestly sounds like it's def. hormonal since it is on your chin. Whether it is from your diet, pills, stress, or your body naturally changing I have no clue. Sometimes you need to increase the estrogen in your pills to make the acne go away. The estrogen balances out the progestin, and if your body is reacting badly to the progestin the additional estrogen can help. (Progestin acts like androgen/testosterone and causes excess oil). The only pill that has a progestin that is anti-androgenic is Yaz, Yasmin, or Beyaz. Yasmin has the highest estrogen, but also the highest risk of a blood clot. If you smoke then you don't want to take that for sure.

Maybe you could see a dermatolgist? There's a magazine, New Beauty devoted to skin/hair care..lots of acne info there. Good luck!

I just saw something on t.v. yesterday regarding chin acne. She has a natural approach...rubbing mashed potatoes on the chin.
You can go to her website... kimdouglas, I think her name is. I saw her on Ellen show. (she's Ellen's cousin).
    Hope that helps.

That's what I'm gonna do, cause I'm at my wits end. I have to go to my GP to get a referral to a dermatologist so if he can't help me whatever. I'm also thinking about going back to my PS who did my botox/dermal fillers to see if there's anything he can do, since some of them almost look like they're scaring over at this point, and it's like the SAME pimples opening up over and over.

It isn't soy because I don't eat soy at all and it started before the BC... that's why I went on it. I'm on Millinette, I don't know if Yaz is big here or not, that's what I've been on in the past so I've heard of it, but I do smoke is the thing.

And I'll try the mash potatoes and buy some witch hazel!

You can get Yazmin here, but only from doctors not family planning clinics, also check out acne.org they have good info, also a friend of mine used burdock root pills to clear her skin up.

Talk to your doctor about getting on Spironalactone (I think that spelling is correct). I've used it for years for hormonal acne and it does magic.

Also, check to see if you're subconsciously leaning your chin on your hand, rubbing them too much (oil from fingers clogs pores), change your pillow cases (oil gets stuck in them), and check that none of your makeup is acne-inducing (the back label should say). Check your facial products too. Little changes you didn't notice can make a big difference without you realizing!

I second the spironolactone. That, plus birth control, is really the best thing for hormonal acne. I don't think Millinette is available in the US, but they say really any type of birth control can even out hormones. Supposedly Yasmin is one of the stronger acne fighting ones, but I wouldn't do it if I smoked. My friend got two of them in her lungs! She was a smoker, so I def. believe the risk is real with that.

What did you get done with the dermal fillers and botox? I'm really considering starting to get some of that stuff done before my 30's as a preventative measure. I'm afraid of aging poorly.

I have botox around my eyes to give my brows more of a lift, dermal fillers in my lips and I got the nonsurgical nose job, I have dermal fillers injected in my nose to cover up the bump. I love all procedures, but I am gonna get a proper rhinoplasty in January.

Will check on the spironalactone, thanks ladies!

you could also see a nutritionist/naturopath and get some testing done - if it's a hormonal problem you could try to correct the hormones which would be the cause.

I use this thing called a zit zapper from ELF cosmetics. They cost a dollar each so I keep one in the car, bathroom, purse, etc. Any time I feel a zit coming on, I just roll it over it whenever I think of it, usually a few times a day. It's mostly witch hazel I think but it's super easy to apply and they last forever. It's clear too so no one will see it and it doesn't ruin your makeup.

My teenage son uses it too and it cleared his face right up. Plus you can't beat the price.

Talk to your doctor about spironolactone. I had really bad acne, no matter how well I took care if my skin and watches what I ate. Turns out my testosterone levels were slightly higher than normal. After about two weeks my skin was completely clear. I've been On It for about two years now and am constantly getting complements on my skin !

So it's basically cleared itself up now, SO weird-- I've been using that benzo whatever thing and putting it on every night and it seems to be doing the trick. Either that or the new cleansing milk I got, still waiting for my witch hazel to be delivered.

I still have some marks now and it feels like scarring or something from all the breakouts in the last few months, would a microdermabrasion treatment help with that?

Ooo I like the idea of the eyebrow lift. I think I look a lot better when my eyes are open really wide, like surprised. I have serious resting bitch face and I look so tired when my eyes are normal.

You are so lucky you would be getting a primary rhino. I have to get a revision because I was too scared to get a big change when I was young. Now IDGAF.

Anyway, I scar really easily too. Retin-A helps, but it can be too drying for some people. I'm too afraid to do the laser or any other office procedure, but maybe I will one day.

I didn't think it would be those cookies because it's not like soy was the main ingredient to them but I guess it doesn't take much if you're sensitive to it. I just started red light therapy for the scars.
Not trying to say I told y'all :-) (wish I had a cool gif here) But it happens.

When I was younger I went on Accutane, totally got rid of the worst of my acne and then for a long time I was washing my face and still using acne creams and washes and I still had more than I would have liked. Eventually I stopped doing everything to my face except gently washing it to remove makeup every night and that made a big difference. Some acne medications can actually make things worse and from my experience I can say that there is definitely a limit to how much you can do to your skin before it can start to make things worse.

Has anyone tried Michael Todd products for acne prone skin? Or any Charcoal products? I've read some reviews online that these things could help with acne, especially hormonal or cystic acne.

When I get bad hormonal acne I take an epsom bath, and fill the water up to my chin, just be careful not to get any in your mouth, as its a laxative as well.
Also, make sure you wash your chin after you brush your teeth, toothpaste always makes my chin break out. Even if its only on there for a moment, I wash with soap after.

It does seem hormonal to me. My chin breaks out as well from hormones. I've been trying to balance mine with Maca and Royal jelly but I've just been a raging hormonal mess these past few months and i'm blaming it on the high(ish) dose of prednisone I'm on.

Look up face mapping on pintrest. Might shed some light for you!
