i saw the billboard down here i'm curious about it but i don't want anyone i know to see me there :X

Is this the same thing that was like $3500 to attend and was basically just a way for creepers to creep up close and in person?
Yep, its the one and the same that's been discussed at length here and in verified. As much as I appreciate ModelCentro and what they do, I don't understand why they jumped on this as a partner/sponsor.

Katy, this is the first event of the kind in the US and we really think there should be more of these. We decided to sponsor and support the cam industry as, well, we didn't have a moral right not to. Camming has gone huge from where it's been even 5 years ago, and it deserves to have industry events, awards, appreciation weeks etc. I think the camming crowd needs to get out of the shade and show people that this industry rocks
Expensive attendance - yeah, especially for the full package (many of the things are extras on it, do you really need a Hair and Make Up Package or an Open Bar Pass - the second definitely not cuz all the drinks are on the guys),
Also, this is so with anything new. IPhones cost twice their cost at time of first release.
Hopefully, the event will grow every year and get more affordable over time.
Used to be the same in porn, but I think it'll change.
You shoulda seen my face when I saw James Deen at AVN Expo this January...
I swear I was about to get on my knees and prayAnd then he smiled at me and I nearly fainted

I guess I don't see why? it's easy to network with peeps (both B2C and B2B) online without all congregating in one location (hell, connection at a distance is the entire basis of camming itself)
not a dig at you at all Natalie (you run a legit biz) but to me the hype about this event from non-cam chica industry peeps speaks to the fact that peeps more accustomed to 'regular' porn don't get what makes camming (and the performers and those who work within it) a thriving success at a time when so many other areas of adult are on the decline. They don't quite understand it (and some I think resent the power imbalance that isn't skewed towards the non-performers as in regular porn), and rather than trying to understand this area of the adult industry or adapt to the flip in power dynamics they're attempting to shoehorn camming into modes of operation that worked for them in 'regular' porn. 'Worked' being the operative term in that camming -which tends to operate differently- is one of the only adult fields on the rise right now where others are faltering for a whole host of reasons.
I know a few of the major cam sites will be in attendance but I'm not sure how that's supposed to benefit chicas? Anyone who is a steady strong earner can approach a site privately and engage in a dialogue, why one needs some event with a ton of 'fans' getting free attention is beyond me.. Cammingcon sounds like a great idea for the cam sites who are hoping to enlarge their client base, but if that's the case why do cam chicas (whom the guys will be there to see) need to arrange their own funding for this event? What does come out of the shade even mean btw? Chicas don't need a convention to find new clients, the sites may but if that's the case maybe they should be paying talent attendees?
I tend to read power dynamics into everything and for that reason camming as a business is fascinating to me. As cam chicas we hold the most power; we can go where the $$$ is, negotiate with sites as our incomes rise, cultivate our own clients that will go where we go. Some camming sites and services add value for sure but no one site or service is indispensable. I dunno...since we hold the power maybe they should be catering to us rather than attempting to mold camming to suit their needs?
That there's a studio presence at this convention that's being advertised as a positive thing to speaks to the fact that this convention (beyond a bizarre design: meeting clients and potential clients for free under 24/7 surveillance sounds like so much fun) wasn't designed to speak to our interests
the whole thing is comical. beyond the creepy set-up it clearly wasn't designed with cam chica interests in mind.

I will wait til cammingcon goes into a 2nd or 3rd year before I attend. As I've posted about this in before.
I've been to adult webmasters, GYF parties, Everything to do with sex show, and Qwebec Expo. Plus I've attended and spoken at playground conference and even jumped into blogging conferences Blissdom, Podcamp and the poorly down Provide Retreat in my 10 years of being in the industry.
Those conference as well planned from start to finish and everything in between even their websites speak for themselves.
The ones I have been to example - http://qwebec.com/
From the second I heard about this and saw their website and watch them develop I thought it is extremely poor and a epic fail. Nothing of them is even remotely resembles successful conferences and expos.
From conferences and expos I have gone to in the past they have certain things that make you want to go, show you why it is worth going and let you know what to expect when you get there. Camming Con does not do these things at all.
They should be making their website to follow along and get the info and registeration and hotel and directions to the conference with ease. and add in their party schedule, and bonus package with proper info.
Their seminar and workshop schedule should be packed up from day 1 til the final day. so you know you always have something to sit in and speak.
Camming Con clearly has a lot to learn and from their first impression of them I do not see them lasting long at all.

This is a pseudo event put on by a very unprofessional outsourcing for PlayboyTV. Basically, models (or their unwitting fans) would pay big money for the chance to be some kind of extra on some adult TV channel shows. Based on both email from the guy and whatever clown they had on twitter, its patently obvious that they didn't have real cammodels in mind when they designed this shindig. It simply looks like a corporate scheme where they're going to try to recoup their costs from non-corporate models - with a very half-assed launch to boot. It smells vaguely like a "learn how to make money" thing where they sell you timeshares once you're in. No thanks.
Again, nothing against ModelCentro as I've been impressed otherwise with their community relations and handling and they seem to run an honest business, which is why I'm still puzzled at this relationship.

loveshooks, thanks a lot, very good points you're raising. Appreciate the feedback and hopefully we'll help turn the tide in the right direction, eh?
I am still hoping there'll be some fun in the sun.I promise to come up with some feedback after the event.

Loveshooks put eloquently the big problem I have with this convention. Why would a cam model pay to give personal attention to fans when that is exactly what the fan must normally pay for? That attention is the whole basis of cam. Yes, porn stars of old did these conventions to meet fans so the fans could see the stars were 'real', but with cam they see and know we are real because we are already interacting directly with them. The interaction is the product, and no way in hell am I going to pay to give the product away.

I'd love to go to *a* CammingCon, but not one like this.
Truth be told, there doesn't seem to be a lot of benefit to a camgirl if she attends -- but from where I am standing there certainly seems to be a lot of benefit to the conference itself whether camgirls decided to show up or not. Which if you really think about it is kind of funny seeing that is supposed to be built around the concept of webcam modeling itself.

As a porn star, as a cam girl, I have to look at the cost of attending & who benefits the most. Whether it be the AVN, exxxotics, glamcons & such, cost of going & the money you make does NOT even out. You spend a lot & do not get the business or re-coop the money in any fashion.
Meeting fans does NOT convert into sales. Only people who make money is the EVENT.
Now, I can see why adultcentro would go, because you can get new girls to sign up to have their own sites. So you & the models will benefit. But if so why not have a booth at all the adult events.you probably do, I just don't attend them.
Fans are NOT going to pay $150 a day to attend. I don't see girls paying $150 a day to go either. That is one expensive event, more expensive than going to AVN... $50 a day MAYBE, but $150.... oh please
But hell, I might go to meet Erikaxstacy, have a total girl crush on her.

You can join her site as soon as it's ready - I'm just now helping her get all set up![]()

Camming is huge which is why cam sites should be throwing an event like this. Cam performers go to AVN and other adult events, they don't hide at all.
I dont see this event growing because of the way it was handled from the beginning. The person running their Twitter page was a total bitch, the guy running it didn't answer basic questions, they had a nasty attitude that turned most people off. Plus the rates are priced too high for such a new event. I think if an all new team took over the event next year it might do well.

What camgirl would pay $150 to be admitted in the convention? I worked in the myfreecams booth one year at exxotica and i did not have to pay to get in. This sounds like a huge scam. I hope none of you camgirls or camguys spend your hard earned money on this.
