    Question Google Glass- Face Recognition?

Does anyone who is 'tech' savvy, know if the google glass, or any other 'facial recognition' device, could be used on us while camming? I.E- even in free chat, when someone is watching us?
Forgive me, if I seem naïve. I would really like to know if it's possible, and how to protect myself.
    Thanks so much.

Unfortunately, Google Glass isn't the 'half' of it ...

A couple of years back, facial recognition software was an exotic technology that was primarily used by the FBI and major law enforcement agencies. However, more recently, facial recognition software has been sold to corporations ( a popular application is to 'flag' big spender customers when they walk in the front door of a jewelry store etc. ). But most recently, facial recognition software is being made available to individuals ... including Google Glass buyers. This has PROFOUND future implications, as discussed in the above thread.

Camgirls are at an even higher risk than most, since their facial images are available from webcam host site 'lineups', from tube sites, from customer upload sites etc. Thus Google Glass or similar products with 'stealth' picture taking capability aren't really much of a factor ... any butthead with access to a good facial recognition program can run an internet search using one of these camming facial pics as the 'target'. If the search manages to match facial characteristics of another pic posted on a high school or college website, in an old online news media story, on a social media site, etc. that also states the girl's real name, real address etc. it's 'all over'. And if the person performing the search also has access to gov't records like DMV photo driver's license databases ( i.e. an accredited employer's background check service, a tax 'bounty hunter' etc. ), it's 'all over' in a matter of seconds !!!

Facial recognition is already being utilized. The "tag people you know" feature on facebook uses facial recognition. In the future they hope to be able to recognize you by face and then collect data of the sites you visit, your personnel interests, likes and dislikes, etc. and then sell that information to companies for marketing purposes.

Google glass facial recognition is only in beta at the moment and hasn't been approved.

It's scary stuff, I only hope that I'm out of the industry before this takes over.

But also, there are bound to be rules and regulations. I'm sure some states might ban the use of facial recognition software. It's a severe invasion of privacy. There are a few sites right now where you can find someones address, phone number, social media profiles, job history, and income. If you go to the site you can get your profile removed just by asking. There is probably going to be a way to "opt out" of facial recognition.

^^^ rather than 'plowing the same ground' here, please read through the thread I linked to in my previous post. Yes there will probably be a few rules and regulations for facial recognition searches performed by 'amateurs'. However, for every 'invasion of privacy' advocate, there is also a 'public's right to know' advocate on the other side of the argument. There are also a whole lot of billion dollar 'vested interests', as well as legal precedents of recently passed laws which have arguably traded 'privacy' rights away in exchange for supposedly increased 'public safety' etc., which tend to indicate that restrictions on facial recognition technology won't be very extensive. And regardless of how this might be regulated in regard to facial recognition software use upon 'private' citizens in 'private' settings, the fact remains that exotic dancers and camgirls are offering 'public' performances ... and as such have extremely little grounds upon which to claim rights of 'privacy'.

As to Google's facial recognition software remaining in beta testing, arguably this is NOT a result of the software not working, but an attempt by Google to deflect potential facial recognition based 'heat' / controversy as their Google Glass is expanding its marketing. For a fact, there are several other 'smart glass' manufacturers ready to market competing 'smart glass' products before the end of the year, and a significant number of '3rd party' software developers are already offering highly effective facial recognition software for sale. Also, LinkedIn has been far less reserved than Google about making low cost' facial recognition software available to 'amateurs' ( arguably because they don't have to worry about facial recognition opposition affecting sales of 'smart glasses' they also make and sell, which cost them a billion dollars to develop ). For an overview, see

But in cases like professional background check services, tax 'bounty hunters' etc., states are already 'selling' access to their DMV photo databases. Nobody is able to 'opt out' of those databases !!! Thus, a few years from now, there is little doubt that the background check performed by 'sensitive' employers, by state professional licensing agencies, etc. will almost immediately discover that an applicant has an Adult Webcam work history thanks to facial recognition search matches to remaining internet webcam related images and/or videos.

Facebook uses face recognition. I was looking at some family pictures on there and my brother has a photo that he wasn't tagged in and Facebook asked me if I wanted to tag his face.

Reportedly, although it isn't widely publicized, the social media sites are already heavily into facial recognition software ... because, outside of 'quasi-official' access to DMV driver's license photo databases, the social media sites already have the largest 'ready-made' databases for 'amateur' facial recognition search purposes. Then throw in web-bots starting with posted social media pics and 'scouring' the internet for other images that have matching facial characteristics, and you wind up with highly 'useful' facial recognition search databases which the social media sites can use to promote themselves.
