I don't get a regular monthly cycle due to my IUD but whenever I work I honestly just snip the string off of a tampon and stock up on Midol and M&Ms and just try to tough it out. Jogging before work helps me with cramping, but it seems like nowadays I only start my cycle when I'm *surprise surprise* at work.
I have noticed that usually right before or right after my period that I make good money though, it must be a pheromone thing.

My periods were bad. Like passing out, throwing up and spending a couple of days in bed in agony chewing painkillers bad. There was no way I could work like that.

I take my birth control back to back now (skipping the sugar pills) and I rarely have periods. Even when I do it's only a little spotting for a day or two. It's made a huge difference in my life. If you talk to your doctor you might find something that will help. I know there's birth control that limits periods to four a year or so.

If it's affecting your money, it might be worth looking into.

I take seasonique (sp?) because of horrible periods. Maybe ask your doc about that. I love it! Only 4 periods a year and SO MUCH EASIER to handle.

Smoking weed helps me during that time of the month. But sometimes I smoke too much and end up staying home.

i've only had to work the fist day of my period maybe once or twice ( just got lucky!) but it was horrible..the cramps, and mortifying leaks..my period is just too heavy on the first day to contain with a little tampon. after the first two days, i'll just spot for a few more days so i'm ok as long as i don't have to work the first or second day..seriously, in this industry they should be a lot more understanding of periods considering we're all women..

I get the worst periods, there's no way I can work on them. I literally gain up to 10 lbs in water weight and get the most vicious cramps. I'm actually laying in the couch right now with a heating pad (ugh)!

One of my regulars used to guess when my period was about to start bc I would literally BLOW UP...(which was really weird hah)

...generally water is in your body for a reason (it's not there to spite you) - it's a major component in every bodily process. I can understand taking a diuretic every now and then for occasions when you really need to look lean and are super bloated...but I don't believe it's healthy to take something like that all of the time. If someone has chronic bloating, then there is probably an underlying cause that should be examined (e.g. high-salt diet). And if someone is not chronically bloated but just wants to look thinner, then that seems problematic as well. Just my thoughts...

Honestly I'm not sure 'retaining' water is healthy at all- water should flush through the body, not sit in the skin .. But I'm not exactly a medical professional! They're Over the counter though with no limit on how much you can buy at one time so I guess they can't be that dangerous.
I hear what you're saying, and I think we agree - if someone is chronically retaining too much water, then they probably have an underlying health issue that shouldn't be 'medicated' through the use of OTC diuretics. Generally, though, the body retains exactly the amount of water it needs. It's actually pretty incredible how the body monitors its water levels!

    Anyway - end threadjack!
