    Default PCOS and camming.

I know that there is a Sick Girls Camming Club already, but I'm curious as to if there are any other ladies on here that suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I have had irregular periods my entire life but last year at the age of 20 I was going through excruciating pains, that felt what I can only imagine, contractions felt like. I had to visit the hospital 3 times before they finally diagnosed the pains, which were caused by a cyst on my ovaries that had ruptured - or PCOS. Sadly, PCOS itself is NOT curable but there are ways to subside the symptoms.

I've always been so embarassed and ashamed by my thick coarse hair on my legs that produce a 5 o'clock shadow - also known as hirsutism - one of my biggest annoyances with PCOS. I have to shave EVERY DAY! Not to mention, the annoying hair everywhere else that I'd never dream to have. I've read numerous forums online but none seem to claim of any steadfast results for dealing with it. I've been recently considering waxing as that is supposed to weaken the follicles around the hair, so I'm just curious. Do any other camgirls have PCOS? OR hirsutism? If so, how do you deal with it? Are there lighting tricks to hide the hair? Have you tried any meds, dellipatories, waxing etc?

Any and all advice appreciated. Thank you!

I can't help on the PCOS i know my friend has it said her symptoms would be regulated if she went on birth control pills but for whatever reasons she isn't doing it.

I can give some advice on the hair problem. I got thick pubic hair I wax generally pretty regular. there is no lighting trick to hide hair. plus guys really don't care about those things. I completely am disgusted with my breast how asymmetrical they are I constantly talk bout how I want my boobs done to correct the asymmetry and get a reduction on my left breast and guys in my room go on how they love them .

Yes waxing does make the hair come in less noticeable and fine and easier to wax the next time but I think it takes a few months for that to be true. I've been waxing for years I don't even notice what the hair feels like anymore.

I have PCOS but haven't experienced the hirsutism. I've been on birth control since the age of 17 to deal with the irregular periods and cramps and to keep the cyst development in check. Currently I'm on the Nuva Ring and I'm leaving the ring in during the usual "period week" for two months back to back, then taking the ring out to have a period on the third month. So I only have a period once every 3 months. That helps my symptoms a lot. I do struggle with the weight gain though, and haven't found anything that really helps with that.

I also struggle with the weight gain, it's a pain! And so hard to lose weight - especially in areas like my tummy and upper thighs. I know that if I ate healthy and exercised regularly, that I would be fit - however all the wacky hormones make me want to go all out on dessert buffets sometimes! Haha! Was Nuva ring the first birth control you've tried? Also, did you have any bad side effects? I was on Beyaz for about a month, and had terrible side effects - bad headaches, sensitivity to lights and sounds, COMPLETE loss of sex drive (that's birth control in itself!), spotting for a month straight and darkening of skin on my face.

That experience has made me a bit weary to try any other forms of birth control, honestly. How as the Nuva ring treated you? Also, what other meds have you been on, if any?

Awesome, that is exactly what I was curious about. I also have thick pubic hair, prone to ingrowns, 3 hairs per pore, etc. I think I will give waxing a go as I have always heard it makes the hair much more fine and slow down the growth. Thank you!

I started out on the Ortho Evra pill (it's been a long time since I was 17 so I'm not sure Nuva Ring was even available back then lol), then I went to Ortho Low. I had side effects like nausea and stuff with the pill. Then I tried the patch when I was in my early 20's That was pretty cool, but it got annoying. The side effects of that are about the same as the pill. I then went back on the pill... and the icky side effects. Then I tried Nuva Ring and I didn't have nearly as many side effects with that.

I heard about Implanon (the little plastic stick that gets implanted into your arm) and I tried that. It was AWESOME for about 8 month because I had no periods, just light spotting the about a month after getting it implanted. I loved it because I didn't have to go get refills or have to remember to change it or anything, no periods, VERY few PMS symptoms. But, it interacted badly with my other meds (anti-depressant and bipolar meds) and it's progestin, not estrogen based so after about 8 months it started effecting me badly mentally/emotionally. Also, I was in college at the time and usually a straight A student, and I noticed that during the time I was on the implant my grades started falling and I found school to be more difficult. So I got that removed, went back on the Nuva Ring and my grades went back up and my moods leveled out.

Yup yup, PCOS and allll of the hair, all the way. Had it since I was a young teen.

For the hair that isn't pubes:

    - The first thing (and it took a while) was to get over the internalised stigma of being a hairy lady, and embrace the fact that I need the best in hair management methods available to standard issue dudes. Once I accepted this, I started reading dude hair removal advice on forums (gay ones have been particularly helpful, as gay dudes are more likely to have sections about every body part under the sun, plus also ones where the sun don't shine);

    - After experimentation with various methods, the one thing that works every time was learning the old-fashioned shave with a safety razor, the way they do it at traditional barbers. Accessories needed: hot water, shaving soap, shaving brush, a safety razor with replaceable blades. I do have to shave top to toe every day, but honestly, after a couple of weeks and a few accidental nicks, it doesn't take all that long. Do watch some tutorials. Also, enjoy how cheap this is once you've bought your razor - over here, a 5-pack of replacement blades costs £2, ditto soap.

For the hair that is pubes:

    - I don't have a satisfactory zero-pubes solution, as waxing doesn't save me from the ingrowns, *however*:
    - I have acquired a beard trimmer that is capable of shearing my pubes pretty close to the skin, while leaving shadowy stubble that doesn't turn into ingrowns; this has a look of pubes that had been shaved, but have started growing out a teensy bit. Experimentation with this look on cam has so far netted zero complaints. (When I don't cam, I just let my hairy/medium-trimmed flag fly most of the time.) If you go the beard trimmer route, be very careful of digging it into the skin least it chomps at your bits (don't ask me how I know this *whistles innocently*).

Hope some of this helps. In general, the psychological leap to dude methods has probably been the most helpful.

Have you tried natural progesterone cream to try to bring balance to your hormones? I know a clean diet is a daunting task, but if you make the switch, it will be the best investment you can do for your health. I am 5'2 and with bad eating and bad hormones, I allowed myself to go up to 180 pounds once (110 now). I changed the way I ate one day, and everything else changed too. I never exercised to lose weight.

Our bodies are the result of 95% diet (what we eat), and 5% exercise (muscle tone) and science is finally starting to admit that, but we still have a lot of dogma to beat (eat less, workout more is bullshit for weight loss). What we eat definitely affects our hormonal balance, with high carbohydrate intake leading to insulin resistance and all that good stuff that PCOS is associated with. I've had irregular periods ever since the first time I got one at 12, and now it actually comes every 28 days (not all the time, still varies between 27 and 35 days some cycles, but I used to get a period once every 50-60 days in the past, and never knew when to expect one). I honestly thought a 28 day cycle was a bunch of crap until it started happening to me (now in my 30s). lol
By clean eating, I mean eliminate all grains from the diet, no bread, pasta, corn or rice, and no sugar of course. Eat low sugar fruits like berries in limited amounts, plenty of starchy veggies (spinach, other greens, sweet peppers, carrots, pumpkin etc depending on your sensitivities - look up FODMAPS foods) and full fat meat, basically a Paleo style way of eating.

I would not recommend synthetic hormones, aka, birth control pills to my worst enemy for hormonal problems. They mask the problem and make it worse over time (they disrupt proper hormone functioning in permanent ways by affecting hormone receptors, etc) I tried to get back on them in 2012 because I really missed having "guilt free sex" (even though I knew they are the devil as far as I'm concerned) and in 6 days after starting them I thought I was going to die. I developed deep vein thrombosis and spent 1 week in bed with chest pain and heart palpitations, not knowing if I would wake up alive the next day. I took BC pills without noticeable problems for 6 straight years prior to that, and that happens to be the biggest regret of my life as far as my actual health is concerned.

For hair management, I too have very dark and course hair and one great method for dealing with it is electrolysis. Permanent hair removal but yes, it takes forever and requires patience. With laser it grows back from what I read, plus it exposes your skin cells to all that energy which idk how it affects cell health long term. I personally just shave as needed and if I'm lazy, I'll wear knee high socks to hide that hair (thighs are not as hairy). I don't think tiny hair is an noticeable on cam, especially if you don't set the camera too close. I made peace with my pubic hair by sporting a bush lol It helps so I can just quickly do a bikini shave every few days as needed.

Sorry if that's more information that you asked for but I'm a born against nutrition fanatic after thinking I'd spend my life as an unhappy obese person and I'm just trying to share what I learned the hard way to hopefully help others feel better.

Yeah Paleo/low carb is amazing for PCOS. It's actually what a lot of Doctors are now recommending because it regulates your blood sugar/insulin, which helps with hormonal issues. It's hard to stick to though, but even if you can't do it completely you can cut down your starches/sugars and it will help. So one small serving of grains/starch a day instead of 5 or 6 servings.

Waxing is better than shaving, and IMO sugaring is better than waxing. Well it is a kind of wax, but it is more gentle and washed off in a hot shower. Epilators are also good for long term hair removal, but you need a high pain tolerance for them lol.

Went out yesterday to buy a whole weeks worth of healthy foods! Shopping healthy is expensive, but if it helps I'll keep at it

For the ladies w/hair situation, have you considered an epilator? They've improved a lot, & you can use them @ any growth stage, whereas the waxing you have to wait for a certain outgrowth.

I have PCOS, but i take continuous bc and don't have symptoms too often. When i do they aren't hardly what they use to be. Healthy diet is a cure all and i do notice a difference when i go on my biweekly pbr and pizza binges

Someone had mentioned an epilator, I was looking into them on Amazon. Seems like that might be what I need because my hair comes in soooo dark and soooo coarse that I don't think it would be sightly to wait for my hair to grow 1/4th of an inch before waxing again.

Would be interested how your epilator experiment goes, Nikki. I tried one as a teenager, but the pain/gain ratio was so not worth it. Hopefully the technology has come on since then!

I say let it grow out, make videos of it. Show it off, then upload onto c4s & bank. I know a girl with hairy face, like a beard & mustache. She banks with the hairy niche on c4s.

Then with the money treat yourself to a whole body waxing & spa day.

    Good Luck,
    Sam

I feel your pain, had PCOS with the either irregular or super heavy period for the longest time.
a few years ago I went for electrolysis for the dark hair on my chin. It was just a few, but they seemed to be getting more course. Definitely worth it--also for my upper lip. somewhat painful on the upper lip---not so bad on the chin.
I could never handle waxing, it hurts like hell, and the next day I would get the rash on my bikini area, then bad ingrown hairs, I usually just shave.
Now that I'm peri=menopausal going into menopause, I have been using the natural progesterone creams. I've been reading up on them, they can help with PCOS.
Maybe worth a try, you can get at a vitamin store, just try to get the better quality ones, or if you can get a prescription, the compounding pharmacy makes them for you too.
    good luck

Jassi, I am saving up for electrolysis for the dark hair on my chin with the few strays i get on my neck also. It is so embarrassing and annoying to keep up with. I can handle shaving daily but the neck and chin are something i don't want to be stuck tweezing every 12 hours or so. It's great to see that you got positive results with the electrolysis because it's something I've been curious about for awhile myself. Also, I've read up on progesterone creams but did not want to buy them as I didn't know how well they worked. Thank you so much for your input because it's made some of the decisions I need to make much easier! Waxing does not seem the best for me because I also am prone to ingrown hairs on account of how course my hair is on my legs and bikini area... I have also been considering electrolysis in that area too but I'm not sure if that is offered in the bikini area?

Thanks again for your input! So nice to hear feedback from people that also suffer from the unpleasant side effects of PCOS.
