Angry So, this B*tch f'd my hair

I just sent her a 3 pg text (salon's closed today & Mon.). She touch up my roots, waaay dark, really bad. Also, she yanked the f** outta my head (I complained when she did) setting in w/rollers, & kept bitching about the texture/condition...
When I made the appt., I was very clear about what I wanted done, the condition of my hair, what I use on it,etc.
NOT going back there either, ugh. They had were written up w/4 stars on Allure this month
& 14 5 star reviews on yelp. I didn't actually check yelp til after, I really went by what Allure said

Something like this happened to me a few years ago. It was right before a very important event and I was IRATE.
I wrote the manager of the salon a letter and they ended up refunding what I paid that day and sending me a $50 gift card.
Try to find a salon through word of mouth rather than yelp maybe hun. Sorry this happened to you

Word of mouth is def the way to go in this case. Yelp heavily, heavily edits their reviews so I am not surprised to hear that they pointed you in a bad direction.

There really should be a TripAdvisor equivalent for hair salons & the like.

Just wondering, if she was being that forceful w/ your hair, yanking it & all, did you say anything to her at the moment?

Thanks, Ladies! Tomorrow I have an appt. @ another salon, hope it goes well. I spoke on the phone to someone there, then my stylist called me back to discuss everything.
The other one, who messed up my hair called & texted me, she offered to lift my hair free or refund. So I texted her asking for the refund & to mail it. Angie's list deals mostly w/contractors & stuff, I've dealt w/them, not always w/good results.

That way you see nothing but pics of their work. If you're looking at the page of a whole salon make sure you find pics of a client that has gotten what you want done and then find out which stylist did it and make sure you book with that one.

I just got my nails done today by an amazing chick that I found via instagram searching.
Yes, this is definitely the way to go.

Or also, I've seen people on youtube, like bloggers and stuff, who get their hair done and film it. They usually heard about the person word of mouth, and then you see the before and after and can decide if you want to go. That might just be in major major cities though.

You can never trust that a magazine/website/major company isn't giving a high rating because they benefit from doing so.
In general, online reviews are honestly one of the WORST things to go by unless they post pictures (before & after pics if applicable)... A lot of women honestly DON'T KNOW what healthy hair or well-dyed hair looks like... so you could fry their hair and leave it blotchy, streaked, and discolored... but because the salon employees told them it was good, they're going to run home and leave a 5 star review about how amazing their stylist was because they made them feel good about themselves.

It's like the last time I was searching for a flat iron... there was one that had these amazing ratings, but then leaving the reviews, people were saying things like "Wow! My hair looks so much better than when I was using XX iron. I've used that the last 5 years but since I switched, my hair doesn't feel like straw any more!"

A lot of reviews are worthless because they're left by people with little to no experience on the subject. So. Yeah. Always go by word of mouth or pics only.
Sorry you had this experience. I'm glad to hear you were able to get it fixed.

Omg, I feel for you! I've had my hair fkd up real bad a few times too. Then I learned how to care for it myself. If it's long enough, you can learn how cut the ends yourself; plus the other stuff like color, high/lowlight etc.. I haven't been to a hair salon in 8 years, saved a ton of money, and hair has a salon look.
I'm glad you had it fixed!

Yeah, I was cutting it myself, I just wanted to have a professional cut..which that service was ok. She did mail me a check & apologized by phone & text.
I also touch up my outgrowth, as my hair grows fast, I can already see roots after only barely 2 wks.
I was actually going to have her do highlights originally, then we decided to just cut & touch up the outgrowth, she used Keune or something dye from France, it's organic.
The guy who did my highlights to correct the way too dark touch up said the organic dye really 'grabs' on hair (takes fast).
Highlights I have done professionally like once or twice a year. I wouldn't be able to tackle that, it's all I can do to touch up my outgrowth & get it right.

Ugh I hate unskilled hair stylists who take on more than they are qualified for.

I am mixed race and had my fair share of horror stories. Now I always ask beforehand if a new stylist has experience styling thick hair with texture. I can usually tell when they start styling my hair if they know what they're doing or not. The ones who don't I have to tell them EXACTLY what I want them to do so I get the results I want. They may get offended but hey I'd rather look good than protect someone else ego.

I'd have no problems doing like I would a dude with bad sex skill - like stop right now motherf$cker, even in the middle of it - and let me get the experienced stylist to finish so I can get the results I want.

And when you find a stylist that you like, keep her/him around.
