    Post Anyone Had Liposuction?

Hi all, I couldn't find a recent/up to date thread on this topic and I have heard mixed reviews from friends/colleagues about it-so I thought I would post a new thread (apologies if there is a recent one). So, I am toying with the idea of having lipo' on my lower abdomen. I am slim/in shape, work out daily and eat clean, but I have thyroid problems and it's becoming harder and harder to keep that part of my body flat . Has anyone had it done? If so, what were your result like? Would you recommend it? Thanks ladies x

No, but I want to do this surgery for cellulite called cabechon..there's a magazine called New Beauty, there's lots of info in it about anti aging, different surgeries, Dr's, treatments etc.

    Hi Olive,

I had liposuction on my abdomen and I would never go back! But please remember that the first couple of months, you will be FAT. I was so discouraged in the beginning but I look amazing now. Also, your fat will go somewhere else from then on. My body changed for the better! Please make sure you go to a plastic surgeon that specializes in liposuction!

Same with AspiringCamGirl, I had it and glad I did...and like she said, first few months will look like you haven't had anything done but that is just swelling and scar tissue that takes awhile to go down. I would reccomend.

Had it done twice. Yes results don't show immediately. And also yes with fat cells removed from one area ( like tummy ) if you gain weight after lipo it will go to other areas where fat cells are more plentiful ( like ass ).

I'm planning on getting the Ultrasonic Liposuction I'm actually calling today to the local DR in my area that does it to talk about prices and stuff I want my entire tummy done then maybe other parts after that but i want to try to just tone up and lose the rest thru my muscles burning it off and using it as fuel (I'm naturally thick framed but 'm considered BBW right now like 75% of all my fat is on my tummy ). Its a lot less invasive then traditional lipo if u have a healthy lifestyle now (eat good/workout) it should stay off once u get it done.

whirlerz - just googled Cabochon - looks promising. I tried ultrasonic cavitation earlier this year and the difference was so small it just didn't feel worth the money. I'm about to get tattoos to cover my thighs which i figure will hide the cellulite too!

^I've heard that, it's also a reason I haven't just jumped in and done it already (I have booty, so I guess it will go there lol :/).

I really wanted to try lipo due to the "instant results" claim. But, a girl I work with came back to work after 6 weeks. AspiringCamGirl, JoJox and Melonie-were your recoveries fast/when did you see the results? Thanks to everyone for the replies too .

Yes, SmartLipo on my face, neck, and jaw. I don't regret it but I had the procedure done in March and am only now seeing my final results. Keep in mind too, it is extremely painful. I'm not going to lie about that at all.

^Thanks for your honesty, I think people forget about how painful xyz was when they see results . At least a few girls at work said "yeah it hurt, but....." or "it was fine..." after their BAs etc.

Yup, I won't tell you it was a super easy recovery because it wasn't, but it really was not too bad, either. For the first 6 weeks, you will be SWOLLEN. When I say swollen, I mean swollen. You'll be really bruised up too, but I took Arnica Montana and the bruising went away fairly quickly with that. The area feels numb and kind of painful whe you touch it the first 2 months or so, but it goes away. The first 4-6 weeks you will need to wear that heavy compression garment at all times. It is annoying, but it helps the swelling and you won't have those "liposuction dimples" look. After that, you can wear your compression garment just at bedtime. After about a month, your swelling will probably go down to how you looked pre-surgery....and it took around 3 or 4 months to see the REAL results. The real results like, damn, I look like one hot motherf*cker! results. You will need somebody there with you the first week after surgery, and I HIGHLY reccomend staying in the hospital or having a nurse the first 2 or 3 days because it is hard to get up right after the surgery. But let me tell you, when you see your final results you will be sooooooo happy and you will forget about everything. It really is not that bad. Besides, if you already have a booty, a flat stomach and a booty is sexy and hot right now!

Painful lumps? Ouch, Sounds like a bad surgeon. I never had painful lumps. That is why it is really important to find a good plastic surgeon who kind of has a niche for liposuction. Liposuction is an easy procedure, but very invasive and can develop complications if the surgeon is kind of careless or not totally knowledgable about it. Massaging isn't even totally neccessary. I mean, it certainly helps, like getting a lymphatic massage after the procedure can make swelling go down quicker, but it isn't a neccessity.

7 months ago I had Smart Lipo on my little stomach pooch (100lbs with that being my stubborn area). It's still a little uneven and a bit firm with scar tissue(?) I'm assuming. Definitely an improvement but for $3200 I wish I had been informed that my results wouldn't be as smooth and flat as I had hoped.

Both SmartLipo and the traditional Suction Assisted (SAL) don't truly tighten your skin so I wouldn't recommend that technique on the abdominal area, although I can see how it'd be good for minor areas on the face like mentioned here. SmartLipo has an amazing marketing team so it is kind of the thing right now. Smart Lipo claims easy recovery time so that gets people into the office and into the procedure because potential clients don't like to hear about the recovery process with more traditional lipo, but I personally am all for the traditional lipo like Power Assisted Liposuction. When it comes down to in the end of course, is the skill of the surgeon performing. Lots of surgeons will learn "SmartLipo" and think dollar signs, buy the expensive machine, and get clients in and out like a factory line. My opinion is go to a surgeon who performs it the old school way and seems passionate about it.

My facial SmartLipo looks exactly as I wished it would. I was back to work in about 8 days but it took 3 months for all the swelling to reduce. I also went to a surgeon who exclusively does facial surgeries, both cosmetic and reconstructive.

About the same scenario as Aspiring posted. Worst part was wearing the compression garments for the first few weeks. Agreed that it took a good 3 weeks for the swelling to go down to the point of looking the same as pre-op. And about 3 months to really see significant results.

^^^ a little better, actually ... because the 'fat deposits' under your tummy skin will be gone ... but replaced by overall swelling that takes up the same amount of total volume under the skin. As that deep swelling gradually goes down, you start to see a 'shrinkage' in overall waist measurement.

Yeah, I would say about a month. I took a month off of work, but I started off slow. 6 weeks in I was better, 2 months in I was way better, 3 months I was kicking it totally awesome. You will feel a little tender when you go back after a month, it is annoying when people touch you where you got your lipo, but now me and anybody else can touch the area and I am fine. and you will still be swollen a bit, so just take it easy. I didn't exactly feel "glamourous" one month out, but with the right outfit and angles I could totally fake it!
