Default What Marketing Tricks Do We Unknowingly Fall For?

I found a useful marketing and sales thread on Reddit's front page: link.

It has a bunch of helpful ideas such as one person saying that convincing someone to buy is often difficult, so you need to get their brain focused between two offers vs "to buy or not to buy". For example, focus between two dance offers (table vs champagne or even between different champagne/VIP areas and so on) for the customer rather than the single offer of a dance. It'll get their brains focused on the idea that they are already buying something, so now the choice is which is the deal they want. It also helps to eliminate fear of buying (Is this worth spending money on? for example) because they still have choices and pick the one that they feel would have the most reward/value.

Yes, I think I read in hustle hut after you ask for a dance and he says yes that you should say "is here ok or would the VIP better suit your needs"? Then he'll probably ask about the VIP (price and what it entails) and you go into that. If he declines, you still sold at least a dance.

^ You know, I didn't sell VIPs for the longest time because it's usually a big hassle to convince them up front (in my club they expect a lot for their $25 dance in the back, and I'm not down with misleading them)... then I started getting them to agree to the dance first and then asking WHERE he wants his dance, and I can generally get at least one person a shift to go in the back.
That one little sentence is quick and easy without seeming like a hustle, and it doesn't always work, but it gets me an extra $10 a song when it does. Totally worth doing.

Some one in the reddit thread brought up getting 20% off coupons, or $10 off coupons in the mail for shops. They said "My mum does this all the time. She'll make special trips out to Kohl's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Sam's Club, anywhere that gives good discounts so she can 'cash in on them', when really the sad truth is they're just cashing in on you.
That coupon may've saved you 20%, but if you'd just ignored it, you could've saved 100%! Wow! What a deal!"

I think that can really be applied to camming, but I would think clips sales would be perfect for it. Get 20% of all videos, or Buy $50 and get a free $10 video. You see girls to this all the time, and in my experience it works so well. My favorite is, buy a certain number of videos, and get a special free video (that you can ONLY get by buying videos, of course).

^I honestly think that's a great idea (even with dances in some cases. After so many get a discounted one or something). It could make you a lot more money in the long run where, without them thinking about "what a great deal" they might not have bought at all or just bought the bare minimum.

After all, I know when I see a sale at a store I like, I'm probably going to go spend money. Without the sale, I would've never even thought to go.

Americans like stuff that is popular. I will sell more dances and/or more expensive champagne rooms with the line that "most people prefer the champagne room dances." I back it up with financial logic. Regular dances are $40 a song or 3/$100. Songs are 2-3 minutes long (if the DJ is worth a shit. Sometimes he spaces out and plays full length songs). Therefore 10-15 songs or half an hour would cost you $340-500 before tipping if you go song by song. If you buy a 30 minute show, it's only $250 before tip.

If he was going to spend at least $200 while he was in the club, this usually makes logical sense to him. I find doing the 30 minute shows less stressful than trying to continually up-sell during the $40 or 3/$100 dances. I also let him watch as I set a timer on my phone, so that way there is no question to the actual elapsed time.
