Hello girl! It's me again. Here is my update. My friend let me use his Acer, but it did not work for caming at all, it's just too small and the built in camera wasn't even detected by the site
Can you please tell me what computer do I need in order to make this work. I have not yet really started working, given I was told by a member that my video freezes. I am connected to the internet using a Ethernet cable I have 6 Mgs of speed (do I need more?)
My computer is almost 8 years old and I have it cleaned up as much as possible. My webcam is a Logitech c270. Looking forward to your input. Just to clear things up I am trying to work at CB given seems to be a newbie friendly, but unfortunately I get totally freeze up there.

Hi there,
First of all, this week has been my slowest week on SM in along time????? Don't know what's going on, but I usually always make pretty good money every week on there, but this week is horrible. From Sunday till today only 100 bucks??? Maybe it's just a very slow week. What killed my week was last Sunday. Sundays are usually my best days, but last Sunday made almost nothing. Hope it gets better soon, need some money.
As for the computer, you basically need a good computer for Streamate, till some time ago I used an old laptop and my stream was kind of bad. Then I bought a high end laptop Acer core 7..... and the stream is now pretty good. Not the best since my Internet connection is only 10down and 0.8-0.85up, but basically aceptable.
Also using the encoder there is in my opinion a must, without the encoder the stream sucks.
A good computer and a more or less aceptable Internet connection will get you going.
Hope next week will be better than this one.
Nicc
Wow Nicc an 100 bucks is really low isn't it? How many hours did you put into the week? I am brand new camming and having even made any real money. Today I had the internet "upgraded" to 10 Mgbs which is the highest in the area I am living now given also I am in a third world country I am in disadvantage here but still fighting. Thank you Nicc for the input about the computer. I cannot wait to get me a better machine I hope I can make enough to do so in the next few weeks.

I live out of the city and struggle with upload speed too - I just checked and I am at 4.52 and on a good day I might hit 6 -
maybe try an indy site also and do skype shows
I complain about my internet so much I'm sure some people are sick of it by now- I have 6mb down, a pathetic .67mb up. I still go back and forth between using the encoder and just using HD Wide. No matter how much I fiddle with the encoder, even when it seems to be working for me, I get more than enough traffic without it (I'm assuming it's because of my awesome tags <3) and only get positive feedback on my stream. Many people have said it's crystal clear and maybe just a little laggy sometimes (can't help that with my bandwidth cap). My laptop.... I'm not sure how old it is, at least 3 years, but it's an i7 and I only use it for camming so it's not overrun with too much other crap.
I don't really have any other advice to offer aside from just sharing what seems to be working for me. Good luck!
"It's amazing what a positive attitude can do!"

Well, 4.52 - 6.00 up is pretty good I would say. Stream must be really good!? Like I wrote before, I have 10 down and 0.8-0.85 up and my Stream with the Encoder is pretty much acceptable. Guess my really good laptop helps a lot, with my old and cheap laptop it was pretty bad, but still doable. A little while ago I got a second Internet connection as a back up, which had 20 down and 1.8-2.00 up and my stream didn't work as good as it does with my 10down 0.8-0.85 up connection. Always got stuck and I already got rid of that one. As it looks to me a really good computer will do the trick if you have low Internet speeds.

Yeah 100 bucks is pretty bad, althought it's only this week. That's why I was really wondering what's going on. Usually I make much more every week on SM, basically I am not making the big bucks, but I can't complain. Today looks better, made 48 this morning in 2 hours, so I hope things go back to normal.
I used to do quite well on SM, but now i can't seem to make a dime on there. Same connection/computer/hustle/persona..but no $$. I branched out and tried some different sites and i have been pleasantly surprised. Perhaps try a less popular site. It may just have the traffic that spends $$ for you. SM doesn't work for everyone!

I just started with cams.com as my 2nd site, but no opinion yet as I just started yesterday with them. Do you girls choos e the 45% of the earnings or lower? I noticed if I go lower (29%) it just boosts my placment a few places. Not sure if it's worth it to go on a low percentage?
Any opinions on this?
Cheers
Yes, Niccol, Don't do it, it's not worth it. They don't actually give you 45% to begin with, but I believe your real take home is 29%? Its in the fine print, it's what they charge you for "marketing fees".

Streamate is not the only cam site out there. It may have decent traffic but there are a lot of other sites that also have decent traffic.
Most would agree that the top sites are MyFreeCams, Chaturbate, ImLive, LiveJasmin, AdultWork, Flirt4Free, and Cams. Just check out each site and the models that are similar to your look and hustle and see how they are doing. If it feels like a good fit, then go for it, and sign up directly.
Check out WeCamGirls and their cam site reviews. You can find out easily what the payout percentages are and what other models think about working the sites. You'll also find a list there of lesser known cam sites that actually happen to be good money makers. You might want to check out Xlovecam and SecretFriends. Those sites have pretty good reviews even though they are considered "second tier".
Research, research, research. The more you read on this forum, the better.

Thank you very much for such a honest and detailed information. As for myself I am new and having technical issues, mostly now I think it's my old computer. With this said I am not crazy about SM so far. The guys are not personal and for the two hours I logged in on Thursday I made less than a dollar. Still I am going to work tomorrow on SM as well as this week, given my vanilla job gave me a week off and no pay. I am ready to work at CB but my computer cannot support their software and freezes up terrible. I cannot wait to give CB a try as the guys there are so friendlier and encouraging. Not a dull moment on CB imo. Again thanks girl.
Im mainly on IMlive now. Despite the ultra cheap custys and lowish traffic, i actually do alright on there. Sometimes the "unpopular" sites can end up being the sites that you do well on.![]()
Hey Nikki_Fox, thanks for responding. What's a Indy site? How does skype shows work? One guy on SM asked me to do a Skype show, he said he would pay me by Western Union if I wanted, but I would not want to give my personal information, still I could give someone else's name just to get the money, however I am under the impression I should request my payments through the site itself, isn't how this works? Thanks in advance.
How many hours (straight) do you girls suggest a cam girl should sit on SM. Today I sat for an hour and a half, took a break and went on again for 2 hours, computer crashed and I decided to call it a day since It was getting late and I wasn't feeling well. A lot of people walked in my room and walked out. Very few said hi, and left before I could respond. Should I do a dance or just sit there patiently and let them start the conversation. I tried the friendly approach and they still left the room.

Welcome to Streamate..Or I should say, how summer's are for me too on Streamate. Ive been camming on there for 5 yrs., and there are def patterns, I've noticed.
There was a hockey play-off game on tonight, and sports always mess up my earnings.
Prob cause most of my custiesre closeted gay guyswho get off on seeing all of those sweaty manly players. Least that what they tell me.

Im out right now and on my phone - will respond more in a bit unless anyone else cares to do it - search for Livecammodelshows and cammodeldirectory - not sure how or if international ladies can work on Nitflirt with the phone situation and payments-
your other question - an hour or two online is not going to do it - maybe after you are very very established and have lots of regulars -

What works for some girls won't work for others. There is not an exact formula for successful hustling. I've started using the acronym YHMV [Your Hustle May Vary] on posts like these. If something isn't working for you, try a new approach. Personally I greet everyone that enters my room and can usually get conversations going easily, but I'm naturally chatty and good at casually socializing. I find that sitting down for long periods of time gets boring and makes me anxious, so I stay standing up most of the time. I play music so I can dance a bit to keep my body moving, and also entice the custies.
If you're new you need to commit more than just a couple hours at a time. When I first started camming last summer, I worked it like a regular job: 4-5 days a week, 6-8 hours a day. Now that I've built up a fan base with regular clientele, I can work much less and make more. But it took several months of steady dedicated time online, and figuring out my personal hustle, to work up to that.
Thank you so much Nikki. This is exactly what I need to know in order to organize myself. Today I did 3 blocks of a little over 2 hours each, I made a gran total of five dollars which is embarrassing to say but I must keep it real here. I plan on working longer blocks. Tomorrow I will do a morning block of three hours and take a short break for lunch and go back again for four hours, then do it again the next day. I just so hope I can make money as I am getting anxious over the rent and other bills as you know. Again, thank you Nikki_Fox.

Wow, I am so glad you are doing good. Hope to get there one day as well. Your input is very much appreciated by me SweetieB. I am developing a schedule and I will stay focused on my goal of making this work for me. I am working in disadvantage given my equipment at the moment, but working to get this straight out as well. One question thou, how do you handle those requests for Skype shows? I am a newbie but it seems like they want to get a free show or else they would go private, don't they? Again, thanks SweetieB.
