Default Judging a book by it's cover

I often judge an SC by the outside environment, I shy away from shady small buildings with high fences - run down looking joints.

Has anyone found these sorts of places worth it? Does the outside of the club often tell of the quality of dancers inside?

Depends on the area. In Philly, a lot of the clubs are in older buildings and in parts of town that aren't so great, so of course the outside doesn't look good, but the interior would be quite nice.

Yea. I mean, in Chicago, (I'm sure many areas too) there's lots of rules/zoning laws. It seems the run down areas are probl. more forgiving (+ they sure need the revenue lol), whereas a more upscale area would keep them out? Hence many clubs are in not so great areas..although they seem to be on/near a main road or by an expressway ramp too.
Mostly they seem not to care about the outside (w/a few exceptions) or it's a plain looking building so the citizens can't complain about neon nudies or something.

IME it is nearly impossible to use the exterior of a club as a firm indicator of what it is like inside. Now there are certainly some beautiful clubs out there, like Cheetah in Atlanta, a a handful of Dallas clubs, a number of Vegas clubs, and others. However, in many parts of the country clubs are zoned into industrial or other areas where the buildings do not look great from the outside, but in which the club interiors are very nice. In the northeast (CT, MA, RI, NY) and even in parts of DC and PA, the clubs tend to be in older buildings, but zoning restrictions prevent many of these clubs from moving elsewhere, but many of the interiors of the nicer clubs are quite comfortable.

So no, I don't think you can judge a book by its cover when talking about strip clubs. A little research goes a long way.

Second the Philly assessment. Daydreams is in an old warehouse and it was my favorite club for a long time.

the club i'm at now doesn't look great from the outside..the sign is beat up and missing letters..its nothing fancy, and its on the side of a highway. but the interior is pretty immaculate for a strip club..the bathrooms are the cleanest i've ever seen in a SC, they are definitely the kind of club that strives for the "upscale" interior feel. so i'd have to go with no.
but then i really dislike super upscale clubs, i don't think they are fun to go to or work at
