because they get horny..?? it aint rocket science.
Why did I drunk-dial an ex last week?

I thought it wasn't the sex they pay for. They pay for them to go away.

Cuz they don't get it enough irl. lol

I figure it's no different than hiring an accountant to do your taxes. Beats doing it yourself.

"Well done. Here are the test results: You are a horrible person. I'm serious, that's what it says: 'A horrible person.' We weren't even testing for that."

Fucking Britain... one of my clients sent me this when I told him I was getting my boobs done:

Why you would spend time doing the maths for that I don't know.
I agree that the basic, universal reason they pay for it because they want to get off, but the reasons behind it for each guy are definitely different. I have lots of different kinds of clients... everyone has different motivations. Some people are really lonely or have some kind of physical issue or mental insecurity that stops the from being able to have regular relationships. Some are married and think that seeing an escort is less of a betrayal than having an affair. Some are way too busy to have real relationships but still have sexual needs or an emotional need for some kind of intimacy. Some are just dogs. I don't believe it's as simple as paying for entirely string-free sex, cause honestly I have many clients that would stay for hours if I didn't tell them that they needed to go, and would happily spend time with me even if there was no sex.

I don't know who said this originally but, "you pay them to leave"?
MANY MEN WANTED TO LAY ME DOWN, BUT FEW WANTED TO LIFT ME UP
-Eartha Kitt

^nobody knows who the first person was that said it... on Criminal Minds they said it was Dashiell Hammett but there's no evidence he ever wrote that, some say that Clark Gable said it, some say Errol Flynn, Charlie Sheen said it in his trial, Heidi Fleiss has said it, and it was on a South Park episode. It's probably an idea that's been going around for a long time.
Yes, I looked it up, I didn't just randomly know all of that.

Too bad the article didn't address that sex is one of the most basic of human needs. Like food, water, shelter, elimination: companionship and sexual contact with another human is key to a healthy psyche. People have a variety of reasons for seeking a paid sexual companion, but it all boils down to being human and fulfilling a need.
ETA: The need for human touch and human interaction is why some people call solitary confinement in prison cruel and unusual punishment. Most developed countries have eliminated the practice of putting prisoners in solitary for that very reason.
Some men can't keep a relationship, or don't have time for one. Some are disabled or have social anxiety. Some are in a bad marriage...and some are just horny. Lol.

Many reasons. Some just want sex or the variety, others want the temporary girlfriend experience. To me the saddest has got to be the men who have never really dated but want sex.

... because it's cheaper than getting it for "free".
But I like the girlfriend thing better -- as long as she doesn't think my wallet and/or possessions are hers to do as she wills.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.
Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

^^^ best stated by Charlie Sheen ... 'I don't pay girls to have sex ... I pay them to LEAVE AFTERWORDS' !

I don't think the men in the story are all that representative, but that's no big deal.
There is one line, though, that always really bugs me. You hear it a lot. A woman selling sex is equated with "selling herself." The idea that performing this one particular service in exchange for money is somehow different from providing a service using other parts of your body or using your brain, reflects a very prudish and sexist attitude. To me, the brain is much more who I am than any body part, including my penis, as much as it may control me at times. I get paid to think and write and give advice. No one thinks of that as me selling myself. But the idea that if a woman selling sex is selling herself derives from the idea that sex is all a woman has to offer.
Even a somewhat sympathetic author like the one who wrote that attitude has internalized this very demeaning idea.
