Default Contactlenses wearers- camming & sensitive eyes

Just wanted to check if someone is encountering the same problem.. and maybe has foudn a way to relieve pain
Since I started camming daily and longer houres my eyes are getting severly sensitive to the point my eyes are hurting even with the special care lenses I bought specially made for sensitive eyes (letting more air through and incredilble thin lenses).
I am wearing 1day lenses right now since they are even thinner than those "special care" monthly lenses I had, and thankfully I can keep them in my eyes without burning feelings and getting red eyes from veins getting noticable. But they are quite expensive and I would love to go back to my monthy ones, but at this point I cant, since I imm get irritated eyes

I was just wondering if their is something wrong with my eyes all of the sudden or if it is camming related?... The optician and the doctor coudnt find something wrong. Had an antiobiotica cure for my eyes just in case, but they stay very sensitive (tearing, redness and pain)

Someone out there having this problem since starting camming?
Can someone maybe recommend eyedrops or something else to relieve pain?

    Thanks a bunch!

I'm glad you started this thread, as I have been having the same problem, and was going to start a similar thread asking if anyone else has this problem.
I cam long hours as well, and my eyes are sooo dry all the time. They burn & itch. Even Visene doesn't help anymore.
I have also noticed that I'm photosensitive... i.e. that daylight really bothers me, as well as being in a store that has harsh lighting.
I have to wear sunglasses everywhere I go lately.
At first I thought it was because it's Summer, and days are longer, and I'm inside in the a/c. but I'm starting to feel it's something computer related.

I wear contacts too and sit in front of a special daylight SAD lamp...it helps me in lots of ways to cam from one laptop to the side and use another laptop in front of me, that way I'm not looking at and focusing on the same place for a long period.

I am using blink intensive tears to freshen up my eyes: http://www.blinkintensive.com/blinkintensivetears.html These eye drops are great for long shifts in front of screens. I have to use a computer for university, too, so my eyes are constantly focused on screens anyways. Focusing on screens is a very tiring task for the eyes. When I'm not camming, I often wear glasses to help my eyes, too.

When I am doing multiple hour shifts on cam, I sometimes do "eye gymnastics": I get up and shake my booty for the viewers while I roll my eyes and blink off cam. I also gently press fingers on my closed eyes. It really helps, but I can mess up your eye make up.

I also make sure that the air humidity in my room is high, especially when im using air condition or a heater.

I find wearing my contact lenses to cam very difficult due to dryness caused by staring at the computer screen. Apparently I forget to blink I use Soothe drops from the opticians when I do, but they are going to increase rather than decrease your costs as they aren't cheap. Very good though!

It may be camming related as after all, we're staring at a pc for hours on end with bright lights facing us. What I do is cam up to 3-4 hours, take a break, give my lenses a good washing in my solution, and place them back in. I also use eye drops in my own eyes to help relieve some dryness. I wouldn't place the contacts back in your eyes for a bit because some eye drops can cause your eyes to burn even more if you place the contacts back in too quickly. Tinybug also suggested "eye gymnastics" lol! which is what I do on my breaks. I close my eyes and rest them and roll them a round for a bit so they get natural lube and "moisten" a bit, lol. Good luck, bb!

If the problem is coming from staring at the computer, try "f.lux". Its software that adjusts the lighting of you pc screen. It changes the the colors slightly so I activate it once I have already started streaming (after I make sure my outfits/makeup/ whatever looks good).

"f.lux makes your computer screen look like the room you're in, all the time. When the sun sets, it makes your computer look like your indoor lights. In the morning, it makes things look like sunlight again.

Tell f.lux what kind of lighting you have, and where you live. Then forget about it. f.lux will do the rest, automatically."

Has helped the strain on my eyes from staring at screen for hours!

If you look up "office ergonomics" and "display screen ergonomics" you should get info about avoiding eye strain. Every 2 hours or so you should be taking a break. I do it by turning around, shaking my ass, standing up and twirling, that sort of thing.

    Download f.lux. www.justgetflux.com

You can change your brightness/hue on your computer. It's a lot better on the eyes. Also takes away the eerie white glow on our faces.

    BEST THING EVER!

Have you thought about getting glasses? They might take away some of the strain on your eyes, and can be super sexy too. My glasses are my trademark and the guys just love them...

I do not wear contact but just wanted to chime in because I too have issue with dry/red eyes on cam. It makes me look like I'm on drugs I think. I do two things before I get on cam which seems to help. When I am in the shower with the hot steam I use #1 nasal spray and #2 eye drops. Then when I am on cam I do not use white lights, I use blue lights. It seems to help but not always. If anyone has a fool proof plan I am all EYES!

My optician told me we do not blink enough when looking at a screen. He advised me to deliberately blink exaggeratedly whenever I thought about it. I do this when my eyes are not in view and it has helped.

Second here for Acuvue Oasis, they do dry out less than other brands. One thing about them, if you wear them a bit longer than you are supposed to (I always do, cheapo and proud of it) the lenses will let you know when they are done. You can't cheat much w these, they go from comfy to unwearable overnight, but after the two weeks they are meant for. Besides those, I dump some saline solution for sensitive eyes in mine from time to time, or rinse out the lenses when wearing heavy eye makeup. It helps, and the saline doesn't make a film over the eye like the hydrators do on mine.
