Default how soon did you see a difference in your weight?

i'm sorry for another weight related thread, i'm just frustrated right now i've never had to deal with this before...how often do y'all hit the gym or exercise? and when did you start seeing results? i googled it, and an "expert" said you should start seeing a difference within a week or two!! . that can't be right..?
like i've mentioned before, i'm on this great antidepressant that has helped me soo much psychologically but unfortunately it causes a ton of weight gain ( like 30 or 40 pounds)... it also has been known to hinder muscle development and growth. so i'm wondering if i should just keep it up and wait to see results, or if i should taper off of it completely. my diet is great, WAY better than when i was skinny. leafy green salad for dinner, quinoa, fruit, chicken, no processed sugars or nasty chemical laden shit. i exercise a few times a week, maybe that isn't enough? tomorrow i'm going to hit the weights hardcore. i've been doing this for months now. i'm just so ragingly uncomfortable at work these days, i won't even completely take my dress off

After I had my son, I saw the way going away within two weeks. Sadly, I gained some of my "baby weight" when I weaned my son and got immersed into a deep psychosis (yes, medications had a lot to do with that). That extra weight made it hard on me to keep dancing, despite I was still making money. I had stuck with escorting (sporadically) since then.

However, seven weeks ago I decided to do something about my mental health and got in shape again. I started seeing results in three weeks and yesterday I was able to fit in a size 10 (I used to wear 14). My goal is to fit on a 4 once more.

Lifting very heavy weighs had been a life saver...and I recommend you to do so. A word of advice: do not quit the medications right away, wean yourself from them little by little. Talk to your doctor to help you out in the process.

Hmmm … I would be inclined to not mess w/ the meds too much, if at all. Brain chemistry is such a fussy thing … Idk if fussy is the right word but my point is, if your current meds are working, don't fk w/ it. Even w/ dr-supervision. Would it not be possible to stay at your normal dosage, or even this half-dose you've weaned down to, & alter your workiut plan for a bit & see if that helps? Your mental health is soooo important, just like your physical health, & sm times there's so much trial&error to find the right replacement med, if that's your plan instead of going off & staying off.

I retain a FUCKLOAD of water the first few weeks so I have to power through a good month of apparently NO change at all. Then I'll just wake up one day like "OH. Okay then."

If you're small like me and you have a very slow metabolism you won't see results right away. I had to bust my ass 90 minutes a day 6 days a week of doing cardio to see results. I had to clean up big time before anything happened but the weight did come off slowly.

I'm gonna vote change your meds if you want to lose weight unless there's a suicide risk if you go off them. I was on Seroquel for years, and there was just no losing that weight (40lbs) until I tapered off. After that it melted off to the extent I never had to diet or exercise. All gone in three months. I stayed on Seroquel for so long because I was in such a good place mentally, but in the end, I didn't find it was worth sacrificing something so important to my career. I found better meds and fortunately haven't had to suffer psychologically in the switch. Don't be married to one med, is my advice. Don't let your Dr tell you it's weight and your health/livelihood vs mental health. There are always other meds. PM if you want to talk.

I use MyFitnessPal to track my calories - you eat more than you think otherwise, even if its healthy. One tablespoon of dressing is like 150 calories! You get extra calories if you exercise. Plan on losing about 2lbs/week this way.

Weight watchers is also good but is expensive.

i'm looking to lose 10 pounds, i look my best around 130-138, any skinnier and my face starts looking very gaunt, bony, and "older", but any heavier and my lower stomach starts to suffer.. so its a very delicate balance, but i'm determined to get it right..after cutting my meds in half for maybe another week, i'm going to cut the halves in half if i don't see any progress. thankfully i don't have any visceral fat, its all subcutaneous.

A week or two?! That's BS! When I start a new exercise/diet regime it takes AT LEAST a month for me to see any difference and I usually seem to lose weight "all at once." Try to only weigh yourself once a week and not every day. It'll just drive you crazy.

Cutting out alcohol, esp if it was more than a few drinks a wk, would make a huge difference.

OP, have you discussed this w/ a nutritionist as well as w/ your psychiatrist? If not, I think getting help from both would be the best way to go abt this.

I'm petite w/ a slow metabolism. I was 1 week out of an abortion & I dropped 5 lbs in 2 weeks, then I plateaued at that & was stuck at 135 for the longest time. I alchinized my drinking water & went strictly grilled chicken, fish, veggies & raw veggies only followed by gym for 90 mins to 2 hrs or so 3/5 times a week w/ weights, core strengthening, pilates/yoga & tons of cardio (Thats when I went from 135lb -131 in about a week). I now am much smaller but still struggling to blast the lower belly fat. My boobs volunteered as tribute (fuckers..). Once I can afford it again I'm gonna buy more sessions w/ the personal trainer. I'm currently down to 130/129lbs & hoping to drop another 10/15lbs. I'm 5'1 so that would be a healthy weight for me. So I guess you could say I went from 142 & preggo to 129 & not in about a month in a half.

Also, meds & alchohol or any other substance can interfere w/ this process -so maybe talk to your doc about an alternative brand or medication..? I won't quite drinking so I had to switch from my beloved rum & ciders to vodka & soda. Still smoke too. So minor changes on that help.

Good Luck, girl! It is hard -especially living in the nightlife instead of daytime

i'd like to see a nutritionist but i don't have any insurance its already so much to see the psychiatrist , i'm going to talk to him more when i see him next month. i really don't even feel like he knows much about the meds he prescribes..its kind of a "pay me, let me write the scripts out, have a good day" kinda guy. its also going to be different for each person, so i know he's going to tell me to play around with the dose.
i don't drink any alcohol or smoke or anything, and the only sugary thing i ever eat is ice cream ( bad i know), but i used to eat like shit when i was skinny. oh well, at least my skin is finally glowing and clear and isn't looking bony anymore. the med is working beautifully, and i love everything except my stomach so i just gotta buckle down and tackle exercise and cutting the med in quarters
thank you guys!! i really appreciate the input and advice

^I felt the same way when I tried psych meds. Also, increasingly, research suggests that we don't understand depression at all, and many of the meds prescribed cannot hope to properly treat it. It's a very frustrating situation in general. If you're going to experiment on your own, just make sure you have meds that are okay to be cut. Not all of them are, so please be careful.

I eat vegan, do yoga and stretching, and drink lots of water. Bike riding or walking/jogging on a nature trail is amazing, too. It's alot more fun (not to mention free) as opposed to a gym that leaves you feeling closed-in and have to pay for. I just prefer nature over a building with sweaty people and equipment.

I think you could see your weight drop off in 3 months or less from a healthy vegan diet and something as simple as biking and yoga. Just my advice.

It takes 4 weeks for you to notice your body changing. 8 weeks for your friends and 12 weeks for the rest of the world. Give it 12 weeks. Don't quit.

Not knocking the vegan diet at all here, but -- muscle growth & repair requires protein. So wouldn't a vegan diet be a bit of an impediment if OP is looking to increase muscle?

^^You can get plenty of protein on a vegan diet. It is a myth that vegans don't consume enough protein. Everything that is alive has protein. How do you think a horse, which is an herbivore with ALOT of muscle, gets all its protein? From grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Beans/legumes are also excellent for protein. Chia seeds are a superfood as well, packed with protein and nutrients. Peanut butter, hummus, and bean dip are all easy protein. The list goes on and on....I've been vegan 9 years and get plenty of protein, calcium, iron, b12, and omega 3, as well as all the other nutrients a human needs.

I just got the $100 annual one. One is under my legal name at one gym, the other is under my "stripper" real name at the other Planet Fatness. A customer paid for it. The price I paid? My soiled gym clothes. Have at it buddy. sniff away.

I suggest using a tape measure because you'll notice the results in measurements before you see it in the mirror. Second staying on your anti depressants if they're working. I've came off psychiatric drugs WITH doctors supervision and ended up in hospital with psychosis. Seroquel and respiridal made me pack on about 40lbs and abilify makes it hard to lose weight but it works and I won't be in any fit state to enjoy my weight loss without it. I wish you all the best with reaching your goal

^ dude i know, i noticed that i was getting stretch marks on my thighs really bad, putting that shit on every night!! they've already gotten less noticeable.
ugghh 12 weeks..it only took about a month and half for me to put on 20 pounds ( not even exaggerating), then i gained another 10 or 15 on top of that. but i know its not gonna come off as quickly as i put it on, nor would i want it to..that wouldn't be good for my body or skin! i don't wanna be that person who has yo-yoing weight and skin sagging. first step tonight, i did not buy any ice cream.
