Default Why Does My Screen Look 2008?

I had to restart my desktop last night and when I restarted , the screen and fonts look like "2008". Large and bulky. My desktop icons are all screwy too.

Seems like your resolution somehow got changed to a lower resolution. To check and see just go under your control panel - appearance and personalization - adjust screen resolution. That is the steps for me on Windows 7, not sure of your OS but it should be pretty similar with any Windows OS.

Did it restart in safe-mode for some reason? If you improperly shut it down its possible it restarted in safe mode. That's when the computer restarts with limited files and drivers and might look a little wonky. Other than than I have no idea, sorry

Hmmm,... I do not see "appearance/personalization" under control panel. I have personalization but it is screen themes and screen savers only. Fonts are set to small.

Bring up your start menu and type display into the search bar, a few items should be there, at the top it should just say display which will bring up the main display options box. Look for change display settings.

Also are you in category view or icons for your control panel? Seems to me like you are in icon view and if so you will see an icon that says display.

Strange, not sure why yours wouldn't have a change resolution option easily visible, maybe you have a different version of Windows 7. Try following jaceyLynn's steps clicking on display options, or try advanced options under display if you have that. Every computer has a way to change your resolution so there is a way.

Just landscape/portrait options on that. Icons are set on small.
